Hi, New to the disboards We just booked our 3rd trip last night staying at wl with DH, DD5 and DS3 just wondering opinions on the wl rooms. which is better courtyard view or woods view?

We had a woods view when we stayed at WL and were initially disappointed when we realized that it overlooked some type of storage/garage area for large trucks. But we realized later that we could see Wishes thru the trees from our balcony! It was a wonderful way to end the evening on nights that we weren't out later.

It was the woods view, over the service area and tended to be a bit noisy from the truck back up alarms. We now prefer the courtyard view, pool. Others will say its noisy from the guests but we've stayed there at least 4 times and never heard any racket from the pool.. We've even been on the ground floor and walked out the slider to the pool and never had any problem with noise. We like being up say, the 3rd floor and sitting out on the balcony with a drink in the evening with the pool all lit up is fantastic, so is early morning. Watching the pool come to life, CM vaccuuming the pool and all. It cost alittle more but we like it and are willing to pay for the view.

I also have stayed in both types of rooms at WL, and even though we were super lucky last time to get a great view (not right up close, but all three were visible) of monorail, castle and fireworks each night, I still prefer to stay in a courtyard view. I, too, like the hustle and bustle of the pool area and I liked the lights at night too, it was a pretty sight to relax to once the kids were in bed and me and DH sat on the balcony.

Well..with a woods view if you want the "MK" view..then you'd have to request the north wing and a higher floor, or you won't see anything, and that is the only way I would prefer a woodsview over the courtyard. With a courtyard though you know you will get a decent view..so I would request that :)

Thanks for all your posts they are so helpful! We have the courtyard view with bunkbeds booked but I was reading that some said it was noisy and I was a bit concerned about that. Would like to see the MK from room but do not want to see the service area, we want to feel in the midst of everything so I think CY view is best for us. Should I put in a specific request to try and get an inner CY view? is there a better wing north or south? I'm concerned that we paid extra for a Cy view but what if we get the villa side? I've always wanted to stay at the wl and can't wait, want the full experience!

That's a valid concern. They won't necessarily admit to knowing which side of the building your view is when you check in. Keep this in mind - the odd number rooms face the inside view - so when they give you a room number you can protest right then and there.

We had courtyard view in October and had a lovely view of the Villas pool, drained for rehab. :sad2:

I would say courtyard. With a woods view it's hit or miss. We missed on our first (and only) stay there. We wound up with a terriable "woods view" location directly over the bus path. Bad view, and very, very noisey.

We had a courtyard view, 3rd floor right in the middle of the building next to a sitting area and a full view of the lobby. Our view from the balcony was of the brook, the water, and the geyser, it was gorgeous

We stayed courtyard view this past Dec. and it was beautiful, a complete view of the pool, geyser and the lake. This coming Sept. we've opted for woods view to save a few bucks, but who knows, as we get closer we may consider switching to courtyard view again if it's available. Either way, we're at the WL.

I have only been to Disney 2 times in my life, both at WL. In 98 we had a nice woods view, but the Villas are there now. Last month we had booked a woods view, but was given a ground floor courtyard view in the left wing, furthest away from villas. It was very convient to boat dock, pool, roaring forks, and laundry. I could hear some noise from pool area. We enjoyed the room, but would have preferred the other side of the hall (the even side.) Over all though, I love the WL and can't think you could go wrong anywhere there!
