Hello,
Just looking for some advice. Taking our 3rd trip to WDW in Aug 11. Currently booked at WL but thinking of switching to CR for an extra $400...just for ease of transportation mainly to MK and the other monorail resorts for dinner. Anyone think this is worth the switch? Just seems like transportation eats up so much time!!!
Thank you

I love 'em both, but I don't think it's worth it. You can take the ferry right to the Contemporary and then hop on the monorail to reach the other resorts. Have fun either way!

I have stayed at both resorts and I would go with the Contemporary because their rooms are among the biggest of the Deluxe Resorts, walkway to the Magic Kingdom and the Resort Monorail access that comes with staying there.

I'd stay with WL. If you want to ride the monorail, you wouldn't take it to MK because you'd ride the full loop around to the MK. It'd be easier to just walk over. The boat ride from WL to MK is a quick ride and if you want to ride the monorail, you can hop on the smaller boat like PP stated and ride it whereever you want.

The WL is sooooooooo PRETTY!!!! I would love to stay there again but I now have a family of 5. I would stay where you are it is very easy to take advantage of the monorail at the CR by taking the ferry there.
Stay where you are at and enjoy (I am sooooo jealous LOL)

I love them both! It's difficult for me to choose between them, but nobody can deny that WL is the more beautiful of the two. But if you're looking for speed to the parks, CL is probably your best choice.

If you want to get more of the resort feel, stay at WL. We like both, Poly is our favorite, but my kids said the CR was more like a hotel to them. They are both beautiful and convenient. It's really a personal choice. If you've never stayed at CR then why not try it? At least you'll be able to make a comparison the next time you go. Enjoy your trip!

I'm gonna vote CR. We stayed at WL last summer in the villas and we LOVED it and would go back in a heart beat, but we booked the CR for this trip to be able to walk to MK and be closer to the monorail for Epcot, and the bigger rooms since we'll all be stuck in one room together this time. A 1 bed villa was not in the budget for this trip, but a garden wing CR room was.

:welcome:
I agree with the others to switch to the CR :) :).

You don't say where you've stayed on your two previous visits, if you have children or their ages...

If you have not stayed at the WL and have young children I recommend staying there. We had no issues with WL transportation when we were there in August 2008. My then 5 year old DS loved the WL theming and the boat trip to and from MK and CR.

He'll be 8 this trip and I chose CR over WL simply because we stayed at WL last time and I've wanted to stay at the CR since my first trip to WDW in the early 1970's.

I don't think you can go wrong with either resort. Enjoy!

Martin

We've done over 10 stays there and back in the late 70's and early 80's, CR was our resort of choice but over the years they made changes that we didn't like and changed the whole feel of the resort...move convention feel than themed resort.....other brag about the walk to the MK....well my point of view, if I payed them prices, I sure as heck wouldn't want to do the walk...it's a monorail resort and that walk isn't that short....pretty tiring after a long day in the MK especially on a hot humid Florida day....to pick the CR for the walk is crazy.....

We have stayed at both and would recommend switching to the CR. The only cavet I would add would be if you are visiting Disney during the Christmas season, then WL might be a little more aligned to the season.
