I currently have resies for Standard view in November. Is it worth it to upgrade to woods? I probably won't be spending a great deal of time in the room with DS age 8 and DD age 4 but would like a few quiet moments on the balcony with DW at the end of the day. Has anyone stayed at both? I've already requested not to be near the loading dock.

Thanks!

We just stayed at the WL standard view, the first week in March. We didn't spend a lot of time in the room, except for sleeping (our twins sometimes took naps in the afternoon too). I'm glad we didn't pay for an upgraded view. I thought that the view that we had (for as little as we used the balcony) was GREAT! We were above the smokehouse, and the parking lot/utility area there. There was no noise, and no bad smell. We could see trees, some of the lagoon, the Contemporary (and the monorail running to it), and Space Mountain! If you looked straight out, instead of down, it was AWESOME. It was room number 5048. I faxed and requested: non-smoking, 2 beds, and an upper floor with a nice view (I felt that they came through with everything). Even if we were at the resort, we weren't really in our room. We were swimming, on the beach (the kids loved playing on the playground there), in the lobby, taking a walk around, etc. It's a great resort! Too great, IMHO, to spend a lot of time in the room looking out of a window or balcony.

I think the WL has the BEST standard views of all the resorts... I have taken scads of photos out front and all around the entry ... very pretty..

guyzmom,
Was your beding a queen and a bunk? Was there a delivery area outside below your room?
Thanks

No, we had two queens. It may sound dumb, but if there was a delivery area - we didn't notice it. There was never any of the noise, lights, or beeping that I've heard people speak about on here (and believe me I would have noticed - my husband keeps me up a lot because he snores REALLY LOUD, and our twins got up during the night and got in bed with us, and we would all end up switching beds, so that everyone had room). All that I really noticed down there were several of those golf-type carts that CM's drive around in. Hope this helps, but I honestly don't know if there was.

Thanks so much for your reply. Our family will be staying there in June and the room you described sounds great. We have a standard view room and are extremely excited about going to the Wilderness Lodge as my wife and I have stayed at the Old Faithful Lodge at Yellowstone National Park. WL reminds us a lot of the lodge.
Thanks again

Thanks guys for the imput! Looks like I'll stay with the standard view room. I just wish November would hurry up and get here!

Russell--

We'll be there also (11/22-29) maybe we'll see you there!

Hi dtuleya. We're going to be there from 11/15 to 11/20. I couldn't get them earlier. I'm just hoping it isn't too cold to swim!

...I'd reallu like to see your pics if you can scan them and post them....:)

When we stayed at the WL last June, they upgraded us to the woods view and it was awsome! We had a great view of the pool and the Lake!

Hi PlutoPal! That sounds great. If you didn't get the upgrade, would it have been worth an extra $20 a night for the woods view you had? I'd like bunkbeds too. If I go with woods view, is there a certain area I should request?

Thanks!

Russell

...the rooms wth bunks, are there two double (or queen) beds, or just one???

The rooms with bunk beds have the bunk bed and one queen size bed. The ones without bunk beds have two queen size beds. I spoke with WL today. Rooms 5008, 6008, 5012, and 6012 are non smoking woods view with bunk beds that have a partial view of Bay Lake. I requested one of these. I decided to pay the extra for the woods view because with the Disney Club discount, the dates available were better for me than what was available with standard view.

The Cast Member at WL also told me that if I just wanted the regular two queen size beds and non smoking woods view, rooms 1001, 1002, 1003, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 3000, 3001, 3002, 3003, 4000, 4001, 4002, 4003, 5000, 5001, 5002, 5003, 6000, 6001, 6002, 6003 have partial views of Bay Lake. The higher the floor the better the view of the Lake.

Russell, would you happen to know if the rooms of the 5th or 6th floor have balconies with the sides enclosed? I have a woodsview room booked and requested non smoking, two queen beds, and would love a bay view. I think I'd prefer the more open balconies. Would that be the 5th floor and lower? Also are these rooms you listed all in the wings of the WL or are some in the main lodge overlooking the lobby too? Thanks!:)

I'm not sure if they have the regular railing or the closed balconies. I think these are on the ends of the two "legs". I didn't ask that when I called yesteday and I've never been to WL before. The front desk CM seemed happy to answer all of my questions and room specifics so maybe they could tell you if you don't get the answer on this board.

We stayed in room 5012 several years ago and the balcony had wooden 'walls' - they were solid alright, but they were really just there for privacy reasons.

There was enough room on the balcony to sit in the chairs that were there and see the entire view.

The 'railing' was a wrought iron type - normal 'see-thru' style of metal railing.

Bstanley, how did you like 5012? Did it have the bunkbeds? What was the view like? Was it fairly convenient?

Thanks,!
Russell
