Cast: The FloridaCat
DD Debra
DGD Emily, the Zoologist Wanna be.
9/19/03: We check in at 4:00 PM. The CM at check in confuses the issue by informing us we have a free upgrade to Courtyard View. Sooo DD & DGD are excited about that, but the FloridaCat says hooold on thar Bobby Louie, I want my Woodsview room. So after 15-20 minutes of discussing alternates and the poor CM Jeanne having to go to the back room to clear it, we compromised and took a Courtyard facing the Villas, room 5104.
It is half way between the bus station and the Villas pool and it was very nice as there are enough trees to block off the Villas and was very quite from any outside distractions, and it was just a short walk from the main lobby elevator. One drawback was what others have posted; the south wing does seem to be somewhat nosier then the north wing. The number one item being hearing toilet flushing all the time. None of us could recall that being the case during our July trip in the north wing.
We hurriedly get unpacked and head for the pool area and a cooool drink from the Trout bar. Then with drink in hand we find a table and sit silently soaking in the view of the LODGE After a spell DD says if anyone knew what we were doing they would take us to the Funny Farm. I replied, Yeh; and all my countless WL friends back home on my computer, and we had a laugh about that. I told them I wish when I go I could be buried here, and another chuckle.
So after another round, we freshen up and take the boat ride over to FW. The Sun was just setting and a fantastic cloud formation with the Sun Rays shooting in many directions, just awesome. We went to Trails End for dinner, seated right away and enjoyed their evening fare. Corn Bread, of course, sliced ham, Ribs, Fried and Bar-B-Qd Chicken and the famous Mac & Cheese.
We then waddled to the bus stop and waited around 15 minutes for the ORANGE bus to the Meadow Trading Post for the Campfire. DGD buys the Smore fixings from the Chuck Wagon and her and her Mother proceed to make Smores, I am a Popcorn man myself so I take care of that chore and get us something to drink. NOTE: If you do not like sitting on bleachers you can bring a blanket or chairs to sit on as there was plenty of them doing that up front.
This Gal, she is a hoot, comes on stage and gets the crowd whipped up and Chip N Dale makes a BRIEF appearance. After 30 minutes of sing-a-long they ran a Donald Duck Cartoon and then we saw Toy Story II. A very enjoyable time.
We head back to the Lodge, but the girls have to CRUISE the Meadow Trading Post. I finally inform them that if they did not want to walk back to the Lodge, we should get to the bus stop. We walk to the bus stop and there is not a single soul there and I am wondering what next? Then a bus pulls up, marked Settlement, and I ask the driver how do we get back to Wilderness, he says jump on Ill run you over there. So here we go with just the three us aboard, thinking how lucky is this? He was a very nice and friendly Black Gentleman and I am mad at me and the girls that none of us looked at his name badge so I could post a Thank you note.
Upon our return, it is off with the shoes, grab a beer out of the cooler and head down to the pool area so her Majesty could embrace us before we retired.
