WL room question

I have a reservation for a standard room at WL because when this trip planning started it was going to be 4 of us (me, DH, DS 14 & DS's friend 14) Well, now other DS said he might join us but that's still up in the air. I called to check the price of a suite and gave my military code but they said I can't use a code with a suite. I can't afford the price of a suite without the code. I asked to get a room with a queen and bunk beds because my sons have that in their room now and all 3 share the beds but the WL won't add other son to room ressie because of their 4 person to a room policy. I understand that but this is just for a long weekend only and we'll only be in the room for sleeping.

So, my worries are:

1. Will they let him use Magical Express if his name isn't on the ressies?
2. What about EMH?

Any ideas? :confused3

Changing resorts isn't an option as hubby has his heart set on staying at the WL.

Not sure about DME. But with out a resort card you can not do EMH? Have you looked into renting points a the DVC at WL?

Even if you don't have your DME vouchers, you must check-in at the ME desk at the airport. They pull up your ressie and confirm all of the passengers. When boarding the bus, the driver scanned our vouchers, so I'm assuming that if you don't have your original vouchers, you're given something at the check-in desk to allow you to board the bus. So I don't think you can have an extra person.

For EMH, they are now scanning your resort room key into a little machine when you get your wristband, so it would appear that you can't just get your wristbands and then "loan" your resort ID to someone else that doesn't have one, 'cause it would show you already got a wristband.

As for DVC, I don't think you can put 5 people in a villa unless you have a 2BR. I might be wrong, but studios can only have 4 and I think 1BR are the same. Check out the DVC board ... basically you find someone that can get you the ressie you want, and you pay them $X per point. We stayed in a studio at VWL in Jan, 8 nights including 2 weekend nights (much higher points required), and our total points was 116. Basing this on a price of $10 per point, the entire ressie cost $1160. It was a great deal for an awesome room.

Hope you're able to work it all out!

Ok, what if you "lose" a key card and ask to have it replaced?

Just go to guest services and they'll issue you a new one and cancel the one you lost. Usually a process of elimination will tell them which one was lost, so they don't cancel a card you still have in your possession. If they can't do that, they'll just issue new cards for your entire party and cancel all the ones you had. I've unfortunately had to do this several times because of lost cards, or cases of "demagnification". Hint: make sure you don't carry your key cards in your wallet so that the magnetic strips face each other. Carry them so the strips face away from each other.

DVC does allow 5 in a one bedroom (but not studios) but will not provide any additional bedding or linens or towels for the extra person. You would have a king bed in the bedroom and a queen size sleeper sofa in the living room. You would need to bring an inflatable mattress with sheets or whatever for the fifth person.

I saw in another post of yours that you are going Sept 22-26 which is Thurs through Mon. These four nights include two weekend nights which are more points - 134 points for the one bedroom. The going rate is $10/point or $1340 for the four nights. The biggest question is "Is there any availability for a one bedroom at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge on points?" and "Can I find anyone willing to rent to me at this short notice?". Since you are less than 30 days out, anyone who made a reservation would have their points put into "holding" if cancelled - i.e. serious restrictions on their usage. Because of this, they would require full payment in advance of making the reservation - could be tricky. (By the way, a two bedroom would be 180 points.)

I saw on www.disney.com that a Deluxe room at WL is availble for $1784 including tax. These rooms have 2 queen beds and a queen sleeper sofa and allow 5.

A standard view room is available for $887.60 including tax. If you could get two (I would do it over the phone), it would be $1775. If you have AAA, you could ask for a AAA discount, although I only saw courtyard view on AAA web site (for $966.70 but you would need two rooms).

A one bedroom is available from Disney for your dates for $1739. If rent from Disney, you get housekeeping. I don't know if CRO will allow 5 in a one bedroom or not.

If you decide to "sneak" in the fifth person, you may need to get a towncar or rent a car since you wouldn't be able to use DME. Cheaper than upgrading the room. And just don't use EMH. Just realize you may be in a room with 2 Q instead of the Q + bunkbeds - while you can request the bunkbeds, who knows if you will get them. However since the resort is not full, you have a chance. (You can get an intermediate car from National using contract # 6600330 for four days for $111.77. Didn't try other companies. See mousesavers.com for discount codes.) Towncar service would probably be more after tip since you need a van for 5 people. Guess ~$150 after tip.

That was VERY impressive!! Thanks so much for the information. When I called reservations I started thinking that I couldn't afford the suite that I was quoted at $400/night the other day but was wondering if I could use the military code on 2 rooms. The CM on the phone thought the same thing because that's what he suggested. I'm getting 2 rooms(2 bathrooms, YEAH!!! well worth the extra money with 5 of us) for $1231 for 4 nights using the military code on each room. I asked for connecting rooms.

I added my son so he can use Magical Express so I save money on a limo or rental car.

How did my "just me and hubby" trip end up with "me, hubby, DS19, DS14, DS' friend 14 and 2 rooms" trip?? hahahahahaha

Gotta love the power of Disney when DS19 begs to go saying he'd sleep on the floor if he had to and is willing to pay for his park hopper ticket since his airfare is his birthday present from us.

Glad it all worked out for you Michelle! And yes, that post with all of the info was very impressive. I guess their DIS name is very accurate! :teeth:

Have a great trip!
