WL - room location requests

I'm trying to sort out which requests are most important to my family for our WL courtyard room view (no bunks). I know the WDTC reservationists can add location requests to our reservation. I am also aware that the shorter this list is, the better the odds of getting what I want.

Here's what I'd like in order of importance to me and my family:
1. A room that was not previously designated a "smoking" room.
2. A quiet room.
3. Highest possible floor.
4. A view to die for. (Are there rooms in the courtyard category that allow you to see both the MK fireworks AND the electric water parade that would also satisfy my requests listed in #1 & #2?)

Help me word my requests so that the room assigner will not get frustrated and ignore me. I know I will not be able to include all requests on my reservation, but perhaps there is a way to abbreviate my list in such a way that most are included. Any suggestions?

Also, I need clarification: I am under the impression that calling and faxing the WL ahead of time is no longer honored. (Am I correct or mistaken? )

First thing I would request since you have a courtyard view would be an "inner courtyard", otherwise they can give you a room that looks at the Villas. For some reason, these are considered courtyard views as well.

As for nonsmoking rooms, I think you may want to avoid the 6th floor, north side. I believe that is where the smoking rooms were.

We always liked the views from the romms near the ends of the "wings", one particular room was 4113. It was in the south side overlooking the pool and a great view of the lake. About the best view possible IMO. Sorry but there aren't any courtyard views that have a chance to see the Castle or fireworks. Some of the woods view rooms have that as well as some standards, but not courtyard.

Noise has never really been an issue at WL, at least in none of the rooms we have stayed in. Some of the ones that open into the lobby ight have some noise but I think it may be minimal if any. Disney does a real good job of sound proofing the rooms IMO.

You will enjoy the WL a lot, it is by far our favorite, but with our family size we have had to move on. Perhaps when the kids are older, DW and I can make a trip back there.

Oh, and almost forgot, faxes aren't really that affective anymore. Doesn't hurt to send one since all you will have wasted is time to type it and send it, but they don't really honor them like they did in the past years.

:thanks: Your information is very helpful! :thumbsup2

Yes..you definitely want an "inner" courtyard. I have heard some guests say that if they stay inner courtyard in the south wing they were able to see some of the highest fireworks over the roof of the north wing. I don't know how good of a view that is, but I wouldn't count on really being able to see the fireworks all that well. It is the woodsview, north wing, that allow you to see the fireworks. Also remember that Roaring Forks and the laundry are located in the north wing, so if you stay south wing it's a bit more of a hike for you to get there (versus taking the north wing elevator down). Request an inner courtyard that is not over the pool if you want it quieter. I never call or fax ahead of time, I put my most important request first when I make my ressie and then let them take care of it from there. I cannot recall ever really not getting my requests. :)

What about this: "Inner courtyard, south wing, not near pool, upper floor."

Should I word "not near pool" a little differently? Might this be too easy to misread as "near pool?"

This is an inner courtyard view:

That inner courtyard view is incredible! It is more expensive than Woods View isn't it? How lovely. Are the courtyard views very noisy?

Wow! Great pic! See where the two people in orange tees are standing? That is either the room we had, or the one next to it, the first time we stayed at WL. We loved that room...we could walk off our balcony to the pool. We didn't think it was noisy at all. I am going to ask for this room again...hope we will get it, or one near it.

That photo was taken in October '04 and the room was something like $189 with a pin code discount that I had from a postcard (my last one :( ) It is concidered a courtyard view, so one category up from a woods view. We were one floor down from the top and didn't notice the pool noise. Now you do hear the boart whistles and the geyser erupting from 7AM to 10PM though

GREAT VIEW!!! :thumbsup2 Thank you for sharing. I would be thrilled with this view.

The area this pic is taken looks (IMO) to be far enough from the pool to NOT be bothered by excess noise. I can't wait! :hyper:

We were in 4125 last year. It was a woods view, MK side, bunkbed room and we had a nice view thru the trees of the castle each night and the fireworks. We watched the fireworks every night and my DD, who was 3, feel asleep most nights on my lap on the balcony watching the castle change colors.

Awww... that memory is going to be a keeper! :surfweb:

this sounds like the perfect room for us! did you have the sound of loud toilets flushing

For the OP, just list your preferences in order exactly like you did in your post. That's everything the room assigner needs to know in a nice & brief format. Don't fall into the trap of requesting a specific room - the chance that the room will be vacant when you check in is very low and then the room assigner won't know what is important to you.

You want inner courtyard, southside. We had 6157. It had a fantastic view of the fireworks and the boat parade. It was a bunkbed room.

The upper floor may have a solid balcony. With this situation you have to stand to see anything. You can see very well when seated with the balconies with rails. I like the 4th and 5th floors. JMHO

We had Rm 4161. It was great. It was right near the pool and we did not really notice any noise from the pool at all. It was a very quiet room. It had a fantastic view. Here are some pictures taken from the balcony.

We had a great view of the geyser going off

We could also sit on the balcony and watch the Electric Water Parade and we had a partial view of the fireworks.

It was located at the very end of the south wing. When requesting your room I would ask for

1)Inner Courtyard
2)High floor
3)End of South Wing

Wow! More GREAT pix!! Thanks to everyone for helping me out with this....I am SO GLAD I asked. :)
