Hello,
I have read on these boards that the Inner Courtyard-----Bear Face --rooms are the desired ones. I have also read that there are fireplace alcoves on some floors? We would like a room facing the Lobby as we would enjoy people watching at Christmas time---our first visit to WL, and we would like to be near the fireplace alcoves? Question:

Would asking for a bear face inner courtyard room be enough?
Should we specify a specific floor, in order to be near a fireplace sitting area?

Thank you! Any other shares are welcome!

Very interesting question because we are staying there in March and we would like to reserve one of these rooms as well. I will be interested in seeing what the response would be. Also, if anyone has any pics of the views from these rooms, I would love to see those as well :goodvibes

For OP, when I call to make the request, we would like to have floor 5, in the Bearface Alcove (they are only on floors 4 or 5) and when you go to request it, don't refer to it as Bearface rooms but rather Inner Courtyard Room off Lobby. I was reading the FAQ for the WL and they said to request it like that...just an FYI

Thanks so much!
Go to the resort photo blog----see above at the top of resort first page...and go to WL pic thread!!! AWESOME PICS of everything.....at WL!! HOURS WILL GO BY QUICKLY!!!

If anyone knows whether the fireplaces are on only floor 4, that would be helpful to know?

I beat you to it, just was looking at some of the pics there....awesome. We stayed there once before (2005) and after seeing those pics, I am more than excited about going back. My DDs have no idea that we are even going on this trip and they will be evenmore excited about going back to their favorite resort :cool1:

:thumbsup2

The two fireplaces in our pictures on the WL photo thread are located on the entrance end of the Lodge Lobby. They are both directly above the entrance to the lodge. One is on the first floor directly above and behind the reindeer decorations you see in some of the pictures. I believe the other is one floor above that one. I don't recall any on the bear face room end of the lodge unless it is in concierge. In the picture below, the bear face rooms are to the right of the floor to ceiling fireplace and you can see (with the exception of the area the tree is blocking) there are no sitting areas on any of the floors.

In this picture you are looking from the bear face rooms end towards the entrance. You can see that there are only two floors above the entry level, so the fireplaces would be on the first and second or both on the first floor. I can't exactly remember.

I would recommend booking one of the bear face rooms even though they are not adjacent to the fireplace sitting areas and you can still go and enjoy those areas and also have the GREAT views from your room.:thumbsup2

Thank you so much DizneyNutz! I appreciate your great pics! When you request a bear face room, do you request a particular floor? Some posts have said higher is better for the view of the fireworks and having an open balconey? Thanks again!

I do not believe you will see any fireworks from the bear face rooms, just an awesome view of the courtyard and the lake. The fireworks would be seen from (looking from a bear face room balcony) your far left on the other side of the building. You can see the MK fireworks from the lodge however by going to the floors above the entrance and finding the balcony right over the car port where you unload your luggage. Walk out on that balcony to the right and be there when they are going off and you will most likely have it to yourself. I have not seen anyone else going there to view them. Here are a couple I cuaght accidentally while shooting photos of the drive up car port.:thumbsup2 You can see the lighted garland on the balcony railings to the right of the car port roof in these pictures.

I don't know how you request the Bear face rooms, because we have not stayed in them (we are DVCers) so we stay in the villas, but knowing the layout of the WL, no you will not see the fireworks from your room. I would suggest however that you go for the Bear face room (GREAT VIEW) and if you want to see the fireworks from the WL just walk down to the balcony.:thumbsup2

A bear face room is straight ahead in this photo, overlooking all the grounds behind the WL. The MK would be to the right on the other side of the building. GO FOR THE VIEW and walk to the balcony for the fireworks.:thumbsup2

We just returned from our christmas trip and my parents had a Bear face room #4073. It was adjacent to a nice seating area with outside access to the balcony which makes up the "bear's snout" in the photos. I think the seating areas are located on floors 3, 4 and 5.

We came back to the lodge one evening and a family was sitting there opening christmas pesents together...very cozy. A few nights later, our family gathering sat there on christmas eve, we drank champagne and enjoyed the sights and sounds of the beautiful lobby...a magical evening in a most magical place:goodvibes

Standard rooms usually involve a view of some trees around the resort. Not the courtyard near the pool.:thumbsup2 If on the North side you may be able to see the boats coming and going to the MK through the trees, or if high enough up you may get a peek towards the MK.

I have read that a standard view can also be above the garbage dumpsters and smoke house as well.

ehhh im going to try to talk my mom into paying more so we can upgrade a room thanks for the help guys!:goodvibes

OK so what are your thoughts on a bunk bed wooded view? My TA just emailed me and we are currently comparing to the Polly, so is it possible to get a bear face with the bunk beds? I am still on here doing my research on the WL and I have to say it looks amazing!!!

It seems like there is some confusing information here. Just want to make sure no one gets messed up by asking for the wrong type room, or that someone upgrades and pays more money and gets exactly the same room but just a different location.

The rooms at the Wilderness Lodge are mostly “standard” rooms. There are different “views” in which you pay for – standard, woods, woods w/ bunks, courtyard, courtyard w/ bunks and club level. There are “standard: rooms in all views. The is no difference in the rooms whether you are in a standard view, courtyard view or staying up on the club level. Now there are deluxe rooms available, the honeymoon suites, vice presidential suite and the presidential suite.

For those asking about what to ask for when requesting a “Bear Face” room. CRO and also some WL front desk cast members will not know what you are even talking about if you say “Bear Face”. You must ask for an upper - inner courtyard room facing directly to Bay Lake either on the 4th or the 5th floor.

Remember there are only 15 “Bear Face” rooms available. Three of those will be bunk bed rooms and 3 of those are king bedrooms for those who are interested.

Good luck, hope you get your requests!!

We were down there in December and the little alcoves that you are asking about are on the 4th and 5th floors at least the ones we saw were, there could be more. The Bear face rooms that you are asking about are on the 4 and 5 floors but you need to ask for inner court yard view room off of the lobby, like the last poster said good luck getting one, they were completely booked when we got there. If you want piece and quite these are probably not the rooms for you because of the WCC it can get pretty loud. I am trying to talk my husband into coming back down in December, who knows. Good Luck with your request for the room you want. Also there is a WL board on Dis it has all kind of information about the WL including a map with room #'s. Here is the link.

1) Yep!
2) I asked at Christmas, and only 2-of-17 knew what "bear face" meant.
3) And none of the room assigners knew and one concierge!
4) So, if you requested one, it would not have been granted as a "bear face".
