Recently stayed at WL room 2026 (great location by the way, for a standard view). This room overlooked at small pond area which seemed to be home for some critters other than fish and turtles. Looked to us like some type of otter. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Yes, there are otters in the pond near WL. They can also be seen by the boat dock where you board to go to MK.

We were just there yesterday & saw a VERY long slimy, black snake go slithering across the walkway going from the main hotel to the villas - YUCK.

Same type of snake slithered right into the main pool a few hours later - cleared out the pool rather quickly! :rotfl2: They had to fish it out with a hook.

We were told they are not harmful. :confused3

Two years ago at WL DD5 & I had just left Roaring Forks and were heading outside when she said, "Daddy, look at the nice snake "! People who were seated outside very quickly cleared the area!

Once saw two snakes on the wooden walkway between WL & VWL. They're around -- & they were there first! By the way, how does WDW eliminate insects? We've always suspected there must be a midnight-insect-swat-team with some really effective insect killers (Tough to Be a Bug!).

I wouldnt have made it out of the pool ! I would have passed out and sunk to the the bottom ewwww

We didn't even see any bugs at Fort Wilderness - pretty weird, no palmetto bugs in the woods in Florida in May. :confused3 One morning early, I looked out of our cabin window, & deep in the woods were these guys in protective suits - complete with hoods. Looked like they came right out of a sci-fi film :scared1: I couldn't see if they were spraying, but I can't imagine what else they were doing.

Snakes don't bother me, but I'm reduced to a babbling idiot by palmetto bugs. So I won't think what chemicals they might have been using :crazy2: LOL.

When we were there last November, the yellow jackets were extremely bad the 1st 2 days of our trip. We saw quite a few people (including my SIL) get stung just standing around. Day 2 was worse than day 1. Suddenly, on day 3, there were none anywhere. No the weather didn't change either. So I guess we can assume... Anyway, whatever they do to get rid of bugs, I'm not complainin' :worship:

Must be the resident snake!! Last week, a large black snake was in the main pool. I have never seen a pool clear out so quickly.
