WL or Poly in Feb?

We (Wife, Son5, Daughter2, Myself) are going to WDW in mid-Feb for 6 nights, ending 2/15. We were on the fence between Poly and WL and went with a woods view w/bunk beds for WL. We looked closely at Poly and really liked the monorail setup, but opted to save the $500 to upgrade, and had heard good things about WL. However, now we have learned that Roaring Forks will be closed for refurb and there will also be no mugs available. So now I am reconsidering Poly. I could really use some insight as I have not stayed at WL and it has been 30 years since I last stayed at Poly. Thanks.

I stayed at WL when DS was 2.5 and DD was 5 months. We were upgraded to a courtyard view and DS just loved "his hotel". I loved the relaxing boat ride - but I thought the rooms were a little small (but we had a LOT of stuff at that point). We went in May and I always said I would like to return to the Lodge when it was "colder" and we could enjoy the fireplaces and wilderness theming a little more. Since then we have stayed at the Poly and BC. My kids are now 5 and 3 and we are going back in Feb after a 4 day Wonder cruise. We decided on the Poly (even though my first ressie was WL) for the following reasons. Bigger room, monorail access, Captain Cooks (even though it stinks) - we need the counter service for our guys - and last but not least theming. The Poly is a beautiful resort - I loved both WL and the Poly - but in the end I'm going back to the Poly. You can't go wrong - just pick what feels right for your guys and you will make the right choice. Have a great time!

I will vote for the Poly. I love the transportation. I also love Kona & O'hana. I really love the tropical theme.

Not much help from me  but I have stayed at both and LOVED both. You cannot go wrong... Have a great trip!

I would stay at the WL. We were there last week, and we fell in love with it, it was so cozy!

Granted, I have never been to the Poly, but I have been to Hawaii and we live in FL so the tropical thing isn't a big draw for us.

My honest opinion: When we were at WL in March, we got tired of waiting for the bus. Seems like we spent a lot of time waiting for the bus... Also, I thought the hotel was fine, but I did not get a real "wow!" feeling being there. I know many people love this resort, but we are staying at the Poly this time instead (only a few weeks away!) I say, forget the upgrade and pay more for the convenience of the monorail--even if it means the less expensive Contemporary--where I do still always get the 'Wow' feeling.

We like WL better than the Poly. The monorail is nice but we can still ride it by going to the Contemporary and getting on. We like the woodsy feel of WL and all the wildlife associated with it.

We stayed at WL New Years 2005. DW liked it there for the most part. The transportation was difficult to manage. We always "just missed" either the bus or the boat to our destination. Not having Roaring Forks would be a problem for me because one of the first things I do when I get there is get a mug so I don't have to pay for Cokes at the resort during the trip. The room was a little small for us. WL just seemed like a moderate resort trying to be a deluxe. I would opt for the POLY.
