We are trying to decide between the WL and the Poly for Christmas. The trip would be for two adults and our 5 year old daughter. The Mk would be our main park for visiting and she does love the monorail, BUT, we could afford the WL a little easier than the Poly. Can anyone help me out here??

thanks

I would choose the WL. WE toured both this past Holiday season and the WL definatly had the best decorations and felt more festive....

We stayed at WL this past Christmas. If you're wanting something with a more wintery/Christmas feel to it, I think WL is the best resort! They have a huge tree in the center of the lodge and tons of Christmas decorations everywhere.

The MK is just a short boat ride away. Your 5 yr old would probably love it. I know it's our favorite transportation. Also, you're very close to FW and there's lots of things for young children there.

I highly recommend a courtyard view, overlooking the lobby. During Christmas last year, they had something going on every night from carolers to bell ringers. It was so neat to just walk out our door and watch and listen from the railing high above the lobby floor. On Christmas Eve, they had tons of characters in the lobby signing autographs. If you decide on WL be sure and try and sign up to be the flag family one morning. The view from the rooftop is beyond belief!

Depending on your exact dates, you can get some really great rates for WL that time of year! Can you tell we really liked WL?:)

I was at the Polynesian this last Christmas and it was nice, but I recall some people complaining that the Christmas decorations were lame. Since we're not Christian, that suited us quite well. If you're interested in Christmas Cheer, I would agree with the other posters and book at WL :).

I agree that the WL has a more Christmasy feel to it, but you can't beat the monorail especially when the parks are really crowded. We were there Christmas week and being able to just hop on the monorail saved us lots of time.

WL themeing for the holiday is really nice and more wintery. Both are MK resorts so one issue is which theme do you prefer and work from there. I find the WL theme to be one of the best but I'm personally not into it at all - I find it too dark and the rooms are smaller. I prefer the Polynesian overall for the transportation (we like MK & Epcot) and the rooms are also larger. If you check out the overall WL theme and like it and you want that wintery feel - go for it. If you plan to check out the other hotels and their decorations (like GF) and it's not as much a consideration and you want the room space and transport option consider the Polynesian. I mention Epcot because if you are going to be there around Christmas you may want to see the Candlelight Processional there. You can walk to TTC from the Polynesian and catch monorail to Epcot. You also have two ways to get back and forth to MK from the Polynesian - the boat (which also carries GF people) or the monorail. You have great options at both hotels - it's just a matter of what fits your personal needs.

If you're looking for a Christmasy atmosphere I would say WL. i have never stayed at the WL but I have been to the Polynesian at Christmas time and I didn't get a Chrstmas feel from their decorations.
