I am new to this board but have read several reviews. My family of three son age 7 are planning a trip to disney 2nd week of Feb. 08. This is our 2nd visit to disney and last year we stayed at the AK and enjoyed the whole disney experience. So we are very excited to go again and wanted to know which resort would be better WL or CR. Last year we did take advantage of the restaurants and pool and kids club which are imporatnt to us. My concern with CR is the construction but love the location and with WL I have read the WL does not have dedicated busses to this resort don't know if that is a big deal during the 2nd week of Feb. We never had huge lines last year at AK. I would appreciate any feedback:)

I vote WL. Other than AKL, you cannot beat the ambience and the boat ride to MK is very convenient. I was there last December and I remember the buses being dedicated. I do remember the boat stopping at Fort Wilderness, but not the buses. (of course I could be wrong)

Either way, the buses were great. I never had to wait more then 10 minutes.

And in February it could be a little chilly. Wouldn't it be 'cool' to sit by the fire in the lobby?

Another vote for WL! :thumbsup2 The overall feel and atmosphere of the WL can't be beat in my opinion. We stayed at CR once and while it was nice to be on the monorail that was the only plus we saw in the CR. And you can take a short and very enjoyable boat ride from WL to MK and then hop onto a monorail from there. WL is a wonderful resort!

I have stayed at both and WL is my choice for that time of year!

WL. If it was the "old" CR (that we loved and had several wonderful stays at) I'd be more torn, but with their new decor is no longer screams "Disney" to us. We felt, on our last stay there, like we could be in a hotel anywhere in the world. Our view of the geyser:

and the view from our inner courtyard room 6039:

I'm a big fan of the WL as well and will highly recommend it to you.

Yes, you do have to share a bus with Fort Wilderness, but it isn't that bad. We were there in the peak of summer and didn't have any real issues with this.

The boat to Magic Kingdom can't be beat.

Again, another vote for Wilderness Lodge!! We have stayed at both, but our absolute fav is the WL!! I don't think anything can beat that lobby!!

Yes, the monorail is very convenient, but I would rather take the boat over to Magic Kingdom!! It is one of my favorite things to do while at WDW.

You could probably still boat over to CR from WL and take the monorail to MK or Epcot.

You can but it's a smaller boat, the resort launch, no shelter from the elements, then you'd be taking the resort monorail so it would stop at TTC, Poly and GF before arriving at MK. If you are in no hurry that's okay but it would take quite a while to get there.

In Februrary 2008 the construction inside the Contemporary should be on hold. By then the new store on the 4th floor should be open and because the Concourse Steakhouse is not set to close until April 2008, so that means no renovations on the 4th floor. Even though on the 1st floor lobby they are working on turning the Food & Fun Center into the Waive, the entrance to there has been walled off so you won't see anything going on in terms of renovation. So the only thing you would be see is what is happening outside where the North Garden Wing use to be, however better outside then inside.

There is a shelter at the end of the dock from the elements, and once you arrive at the CR it it the same ride as if you were staying there.:confused3 Anyway if looking for the nightime view of the MK, then choose the CR, but if wanting the ambiance of the entire resort then OUR opinion would be the WL.:thumbsup2

I meant that the boat is not fully enclosed like the larger boat that goes to Ft Wilderness and MK.

WOW! I definitely feel like the minority on this, but after staying at both WL and CR, I vote CR!!! With a 7 year old you can't beat the close location to MK, probably the park you would most visit with a child this age. We love the monorail convenience but the walkway to the MK is our favorite. I disagree on the new room design. While we were BIG fans of the former decor, we certainly love the new one too. It's Disney, you can't possibly go wrong, right?:goodvibes
