I have ressies with free dining in August for my DS8 and myself at WL. Since it's just the two of us, I figured WL would be convenient transportation-wise for going to the parks and different restaurants. I also know I'd save a bunch staying at ASMu, but I"m not sure it's worth giving up the convenience of the WL. Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't think you can compare the resorts. WL is spectacular. If you can swing it and not have it be a burden, then go for it. If money is an issue, then I'm sure your daughter will love either resort, as long as you are happy.

Forgetting about the $ factor you can not compare them because one is a Value Resort and the other is a Deluxe Resort. I do agree with auntie that if you can afford the Wilderness Lodge you should go with it, however if you can not then go with All Star Music.

I personally would not take a step down and go from a Deluxe to an All-Star for the sheer comfort of the larger beds and nicer amenities that the Deluxe's offer. We stayed 1 night at ASMo last December prior to our 7 day stay at AKL. While it was nice, we learned from actual experience that we won't be doing All-Star's in the near future for the exception of budget trips if we may ever need to go rather cheaply.

I love All Star Music resort.
Did you know a Family Suite at All Star Music costs less than a standard room at WL?

Just an FYI:

The Family Suites at All Star Music do have a Queen size in the master bedroom area. There are two seperate sleeping areas. they also have a kichenette and two bathrooms.
The Family Suites are 520 square feet and the WL room is 344 square feet.

So if 2 bathrooms, a kitchette, seperate sleeping areas or more room are impotant then the Family suites would be a better choice.

If a hot tub, a pool slide, an on site restuarant or taking a boat instead of a bus to the MK are more important then WL would be the best choice.

-------------------------------------------------------------
The Family Suites start at $184 a night duing value season.
Most of the Disney resorts (excluding DVC) charge extra for more than 2 adults in a room.
The Family Suites do not charge extra for extra adults.
1-6 adults can stay in the Family Suites for the same et price.
The Family Suites have discounts available also so if you keep your eyes open you just may snag a great deal.

Family Suite info:

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) in Sept. of 2006.

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no metal bar to hurt the sleepers back.

Here is the layout of the Family Suites:

They:

-Sleep up to 6 (plus one child under age 3 in a Pak-n-Play crib)
-Studio amenities and separate sleeping areas giving more privacy than a standard room.
-Queen bed, full-size pullout sofa, convertible ottoman & chair sleepers (4 separate sleepers)
-Private master bedroom and family room have 27” flat CRT TV and high speed Internet access.
-Kitchenette with microwave, small refrigerator (4.3 cu. ft) and coffee pot
-Two-full bathrooms

Have fun at Disney wherever you choose to stay!:wizard:

If it will not hurt you finantially, I would choose the WL. It is our 2nd favorite WDW resort, the 1st being the Poly. While the WL doesn't have the monorail, we didn't encounter any transportation issues during our stay in 2004. :)

I personally would not take a step down and go from a Deluxe to a Value Resort. For the exception of budget trip to go cheaply, if you can afford the Wilderness Lodge you should go with it.

I have stayed at both and enjoyed both, but would definitely pick WL! :)

I forgot to mention that you might consider looking into the moderate level resorts. They offer a combonation of amenities from the values and deluxes, but for a more reasonable price tag. :)

It would also depend on how much time you would be spending at the resort and if DS would enjoy playing poolside games and nightly movies at the pool.

Here is a list of the activities that was posted on the All Star Music FAQ thread:

I didn't go through all these posts, but I just downloaded some info sheets from last year. One is the Recreation and Activities sheet and the other is the "paper" called the Legend.

I thought I would post them here too in case someone wanted to read them.
