Hey there! Whatever you decide best of luck on your decision! I'm sure you can't go wrong with either one! Now I've never been to either resort yet (well I've visited the WL but have never stayed there on vacation) but heres are a few things you might want to keep in mind to help you decide which one will work better for you.
Room: Do you spend a lot of time actually in your hotel room gazing out the window while on vacation? I for one do not, so a better view offered by a room has never really appealed to me. The only reason were springing for a savannah view on our next trip is because its our honeymoon, we plan on spending a lot of time in the room, and my husbands only ever stayed at value resorts before now. So if a view is important to you from your actual room, a woods view sounds nicer at the WL than a potential parking lot view which you can get with a standard room at the AKL.
Access to parks: There are pros and cons to both resorts. One is closer to the MK, one is closer to the AK. One has water transportation and one bus transportation. However from the looks of the posters on here it doesn't seem that the remoteness of the AKL affected transportation too much.
Childrens Activities: Since you have kids do they like the idea of going to the zoo and learning about animals, and having stories told to them, or they prefer a national park theme with horse back riding next door?
Food: You might want to try the food lists on
www.allearsnet.com because on that site you can compare the food listings at both resorts (I know b/c I had to compare b/c of an unusual food allergy I have.

) Anyways maybe one resort's selections are more appealing to you and your family than the others.
Anyways hope this insane babbling helped a little bit! Have a great time!
