WL Online Checkin Requests Questions (Elevators...)

Hello!

So I went ahead earlier today and did my online checkin today for my upcoming trip. We are so excited try WL for the first time. It is also our first time in a deluxe resort at WDW! Super excited.

Due to budget we only booked a standard room. I do understand that I might have a horrible view of trucks, dumpsters etc.

When we booked I requested "High Floor, North Wing". We are also hoping for some pixie dust and will get an upgrade to a pool view etc.

I wasn't sure what to request when I did the online check-in. I ended up choosing "Highest Floor and Near Elevators". You can only check two choices. I keep going back and forth with the "Near Elevator" request. Has anyone had an good or bad experiences near the elevators. I hate to be super far away from them and do a lot of walking. Keep in mind I am hoping for some pixie dust for an upgrade. Also want to be near Roaring Forks as we will be going there for a quick breakfast each morning.

My concern is a lot of noise from the elevators etc. However, from the pictures I saw, it looked like the elevators are tucked away and not on top of any rooms.

Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks again!

The elevators at WL are about the most efficient elevators on WDW property, in my experience. Very quick. They aren't all that loud. Also, there are designated elevator areas on each floor. They aren't totally separated from the room hallways, but noise is greatly mitigated by this separation.

Yes, it's true you can have a view (if you look down) of the CM parking area (and of dumpsters, etc.) from a standard view room. If you look straight ahead, though, from a higher room, you'll see lots of trees and possibly even the top of the Astro Orbiter ride in MK, as well as some Wishes fireworks.

The north wing is about as close as you can get to Roaring Forks. Roaring Forks is on the north side of the lobby. So generally from the north wing, you can walk all the way down the hallway to the elevator at the very end, take it down and you're right by Roaring Forks and the laundry facility. Very convenient.

I wouldn't hold my breath for an upgrade to a pool view room. That's a separate, higher priced room category (courtyard view). You're unlikely to get that unless they are completely full in the standard and woods view sections.

The highest floor of the north wing, woods view, near the elevators should give you a pretty good room. You will probably be able to see the castle from there, or at least the Contemporary Resort. A higher floor would be a little further from the loading dock, if you happen to get that section. My daughter had booked a standard view and she was given a woods view, north wing, 6th floor and a perfect view of the castle and fireworks.

The problem with elevators is the dinging noise when it arrives at different floors. You can hear the elevator on different floors. Also people coming off of the elevators are usually noisy. We had room near the elevators once and we swore never again.

Wl is not a huge resort and there are multiple sets of elevators. You won't have to walk far regardless of where you are Ones from the lobby and ones near roaring forks. We had a room over looking the lobby. It was a great view outside our door and fun to look out but it can get noisy. We were 2 floors above whispering canyon and could here "ketchup" in our room. But this wasn't too late at night and my kids still laugh about it. I could also hear some of the music they play in the lobby in the morning but it wasn't loud. A higher floor would help with that if you want it quieter. But I usually like quiet and it didn't bother me.

We had a standard view room but our view was a couple trees and part of a roadway. Wasn't bad at all.

We found that our requests made with the reservation had more effect than the ones made at online checkin. Like others have mentioned, the online checkin options like "near elevators" or "near busses" just aren't as important at WL. With already having your requests in your reservation you shouuld do fine.

We love WL and have had great luck booking Standard View there and ending up with a nicer Courtyard or Woods view room. Overall, you'll be at WL so any room is likely to be wonderful. Enjoy your trip!

I havent had online checkin ask for my preferences... i think i will want to be north wing cause the food court closeness is important to my belly....i mean kids ;)
When i book i usually do so online. I have never put a room request in. Do you call the resort directly or just the reservations? Or just wing it with onlinr check in?
Is it just some resorts that give u options with online check in or is it somethin new?

We have done room requests through the reservation call center. I don't think there is a way to call the resort directly for regular requests, but if you're staying club level you can call the IPO. For the online checkin online there are a few options on the form for room location but they aren't as specific as you can do through the reservation center.
