WL Flag Family Of The Day pics added! - Birthday Magic and Disney Diva Hair.

great update! So funny- we went to that same show and Mickey had his eyes closed in my picture too! LOL

I love the picture of Aubrey with the balloon!!

I am all caught up with your trip report now. What a great first day! I love the picture with the ducks! TOO CUTE! Can't wait to read more!

MORE gorgeous pics!!! All of them!!! I missed the last update. Your son did make a terrific Gaston!!! Hope you have some of these fabulous pictures framed!

Thanks! I think he did pretty good too:thumbsup2 I am so bad about printing out pics. There are tons from this trip that I need to frame. Maybe I'll make a Disney wall. Wait, that's a great idea! I just thought of it! I'm going to make a wall in my hallway fav pics from our past trips! Thanks Tnk!!! You inspired me:cool1:

Sorry I'm late...Absolutely LOVE your trip report and pics. What a wonderful family! I have always passed on the Storytime with Belle but might have to go this time. I also love the shirts you wore at the airport on the way to Disney. Do you know who made those? Thanks for writing the report...can't ait to hear more; we leave in 2 weeks.

Better late than never, they say!! LOL I'm glad you're here! The storytime really was cute and not too long. We'd probably do it again. The kids loved it! I have to think about where I got the shirt design. I know I can figure it out. Just let me research my old posts. I'll let you know. 2 weeks!!! How exciting!!!! It'll be here before you know it:banana:

I love the picture of Aubrey with the balloon!!

Ok, well I'm glad you've seen it before because it really freaked me out. They look like Minnie and Mickey zombies:lmao:

Ahhhh, the balloon. And that pic is like one of 20. I made sure to get my $10 worth out of it!

I am all caught up with your trip report now. What a great first day! I love the picture with the ducks! TOO CUTE! Can't wait to read more!

Glad you're caught up! More to come soon. Promise!!! The duck thing was really cool and unexpected. Just another little bit of magic:wizard: I wonder if Mickey had anything to do with it;)

The boat ride back to the hotel was pretty uneventful, though very relaxing. When we got back to our room, we decided to take advantage of the sunshine and go down to the pool. First, we headed to the equipment counter to pick up some swim vests. I have to say, we first discovered these vests last May at AKL. They had them there too. The kids did so well with them. We went from having to be in the pool with them holding them at all times to being able to sit on the side and watch:cool1: Yeah, I know. I'm a lazy mom. Anyway, when we got home from that trip, I went straight to Academy and bought them each one. It was the best $60 I ever spent! It made, and has made swimming so much easier on us. Granted, I know my kids will have to learn how to swim on their own at some point, but until then, thank God for the vests:thumbsup2 Here we are on our way to the pool...

DSC_0358.jpg

Aubrey is so funny. She will introduce herself to any child that is even remotely close to her age just to have someone to play with. Because of this, she had tons of friends to play with in the kiddie pool. Here they are splashing away!

DSC_0370.jpg

Wanna know what I was doing???

DSC_0372.jpg

Yeah, that's one of like 8,000 beers I had on this trip. We spent a lot of time at the pool over the week resulting in a pretty hefty bar tab:rolleyes1 Oh well. A good time was had by all. Oh yes, that reminds me of a story... so, it was my turn to make a bar run so I left Jason to watch the kids in the pool. When I got back, Brendan was nowhere to be seen and Jason was just sitting there. Now, I should say, we did have a few cocktails but he was not drunk or anything. He's just a bit, er, absent minded sometimes:sad2: Anyway, I was like.... "Ummm, where's Brendan?" And he was like, "Crap. He was just here." And I was like, "I leave you for 5 minutes and you lose our child" and he was like, "Oh, there he is over there on the dock!" You get the drift. I was ticked can I tell you. He was safe and sound, thankfully. :scared1:

So I guess we were down at the pool for a couple of hours and then went back up to the room for a little bit of rest. Here are the kids watching a movie while we waited to head out to Downtown Disney...

DSC_0391.jpg

Our plan was to get to DTD for our ADR at TRex and then do a little shopping. I needed to replace an ornament that I broke over Christmas. Jason and I have been collecting Mickey ornaments from each trip that we've been on and the year Aubrey was born, I got her the pink ball with Minnie sitting ontop. I had it personalized with her name and it was precious. This past Christmas, I hung all of the Disney ornaments on one tree in our house. I had a pic of it but can't find it! It was PRECIOUS! Anyway, I threatened the kids with their lives if they touched the tree or broke an ornament. Well, when I was dusting one day, guess what happened:rolleyes1 Yep, the pink one broke and Aubrey was heartbroken. So that was on the top of my list of things that I needed to get on this trip. Other than that, I also wanted to get them pressed penny books, lanyards for pin trading, and a few other odds and ends. So, we got dressed and headed down to the bus stop. We had plenty of time at this point but the DTD bus took FOREVER!!! And when it finally got there, we loaded it and figured we had just enough time to make it to Trex until we took a detour and stopped at Ft. Wilderness. Now, I was very confused. This bus said "Downtown Disney" and only DTD. There was a whole different bus for Ft. Wilderness. Why oh why did this bus have to go there too:mad: I HATE that feeling! That is part of the reason we opted out of the meal plan this time. Getting to the ADR's is just so stressful for me. Anywho, we made it there and after sprinting to the restaurant (we realized we had no idea where it was when we got there) we made it just in time. We were actually seated immediately! I should mention here that this was the first time the crowds really got to me. It was St. Patrick's Day and DTD was insane:scared1: And there we were basically running to Trex with our two strollers. I'm sure we took out a few people but we were going too fast to notice! The line for Trex was crazy. I just knew we were going to miss our ADR or have to wait forever. I was shocked when our name was called within 5 minutes of us getting there. They handed us a ticket when we walked in with our reservation time on it. It said "Reservation 6:30 must be checked in my 6:40" and our checkin time was 6:37!!! We literally just made it!

Now, we had never been here before and DS was really starting to get into dinosaurs so I was excited. Here's who greeted us when we walked in...

DSC_0018.jpg

And the octopus over the bar was just too cool!

DSC_0017.jpg

Here are me and Aubrey sitting at our table...

DSC_0007.jpg

Jason took this pic..."Excuse me ma'am. There's a triceratops behind you."

DSC_0008.jpg

Jason also had the bright idea to order the kids the giganto cups o' icee. They were only 5 bucks and the kids loved them. Yay sugar!!!

DSC_0011.jpg

DSC_0015.jpg

Can I tell you, this place is expensive! But then again, it was our first day there so I was still having sticker shock. That wears off after a few days, you know. Then you start to believe that $3 for a small bag of chips is normal. We got an appetizer. Spinach dip and queso. It was cold and not that good. The kids split corn dog bites I think and Jason and I split a burger. And beer. There was more beer. All in all, it was a fun experience and we'd probably go back.

So far it sounds like you were having a good ole time. We ate at T-Rex too and we liked it. I think I ended out letting Grace play with the butter knife just to shut her up. She was so bad in the restaurants. I guess I could have just let her eat suckers instead:thumbsup2 . I love the laid back approach you took with this trip so far.

Glad you made it to T-Rex in time. I love that place, but you're right, it IS expensive. My little boy would love that giant icee. I didn't know they had those. He loves to get icees at home, so I'll have to make sure I get him one of those at T-rex the next time we're there.

I love the update! I really want to eat at T-Rex sometime. It looks so fun!

If you don't mind me asking, did you get the necklace that you're wearing at Disney World? It's so pretty!

Haha! I can soooooo relate. Brendan barely sat through the quick service meals. We were lucky to get a good 15 minutes of still time out of him! But at least Trex is loud and crazy. He actually did pretty good there. The laid back approach is def what we'll be doing from now on:thumbsup2

Yeah, and I was shocked that they were only $5 each! Pretty good for Disney. Now, getting them home was a pain and now I have no where to store them! Oh well. It made for some cute pics! Maybe I'll break them out tomorrow and fill them with lemonade or something:laughing:

Trex is fun and we would probably go back. I want to sit in the ice age room. It's a room covered in "ice" that changes colors. Very cool.

Thanks for the compliment on the necklace. I get at least one a day! I love it! And no, not at all!!! I actually got it at Sears of all places. They have a really pretty line of Disney sterling jewelry. I got mine in the store but you can order it online too. It was only $50 when I got it. Looks like the price went up a bit. Here's the link...

We finished our meal at Trex and snapped a few pics. Here's Aubrey posing on some kind of dinosaur...

And I forgot that I got pics of the color changing ice age room. Very cool...

DSC_0003.jpg

So from Trex we headed over to World of Disney to do some shopping. Or as I like to call it "World of someone get me the hell out of here before I lose it!" It was INSANE!!! Jason and I got seperated withing like 5 minutes of being in there. I managed to find what I was looking for... pressed penny books, lanyards, and some stickers for my sister's car. I went ahead and checked out because I had no idea where Jason was. He ended up texting me and we met back up at the pressed penny machine. Here is a pic of Aubrey doing our first pressed penny...

DSC_0019.jpg

I had made them each a M&M tube filled with quarters and pennies. Once Brendan got a look at his tube, he barely let it out of his hand for the rest of the trip! He LOVES coins right now! The only problem was, he would pitch a fit any time I tried to use any of them for the pressed pennies:sad2: It was so funny. So we had to keep sneaking coins from his tube into Aubrey's so he wouldn't get upset. I eneded up only getting one pressed penny book which worked out since he turned out to be so stingy with his money! LOL.

After we left the "World of Craziness" we wanted to walk over to Ghirardelli for some ice cream. YEAH RIGHT!!! People were pouring out of the doors. I swear it was like 20 deep in there:scared1: Ummmm, no thanks. We kept moving and decided to just stroll around and sight see a bit. We were all getting a bit tired anyway and almost ready to head back to the hotel. As we were walking around, I came across a new stand that I had never noticed before. It was a handprinting station where they turn the kids handprints into really cute pictures. I stopped and stared at them, pointed them out to Jason and we kept walking. Then I said, you know what, this is something I will regret not doing. They were $25 each:scared1: but again, I had the "Ehhh, it's Disney" mentality. Sooooo, we went back. Here is Aubrey making hers...

DSC_0023.jpg

And here's Brendan...

DSC_0026.jpg

They keep the canvases with just the handprints and they add the background that you choose. There are tons to choose from. Brendan's room is a safari theme so I went with the moneky and Aubrey is my little princess so of course I had to go with the castle. Here are the finished products...

DSC_0054.jpg

HOW FREAKING CUTE ARE THESE!!!!! I just love how they came out and it was worth the $50 bucks!!!

By this time. I was exhausted. I really wasn't paying any attention to anyone else. All I wanted to do was get myself into a hot shower then bed. But as we passed the ever so alluring carousel near the exit of Downtown Disney (something that I've never even noticed until my 3 and 4 year old excitedly pointed it out to me). We just haaaaaad to ride it. So here's the strange part. It takes only tokens that cost $2. Ok, fine. No problem. There is a token machine right at the entrance of the line that dispenses tokens. Great. But can someone please tell me that after you get your tokens, why you have to hand them to a girl working a cash register full of cash??? Why can I not just give her the cash directly? So confusing:confused3 Anywho, we rode. It was fun. I was still tired. Here are some pics of the festivities...

DSC_0027.jpg

DSC_0028.jpg

I love this pic of Aubrey with DTD in the background.

So after this, I think that we were really truly ready to go home. We were able to catch a bus right away and in a blink of an eye ;) we were back at our resort!

We made it up to our room and started to unwind from the day. All of the sudden, I hear music coming from outside the balcony. I open the door and lo and behold... there is the electric water pageant right there before our eyes! We sould see and hear the whole thing right from our room!:thumbsup2 Too freaking cool!!! The kids just got the biggest kick out of this, and so did we! Here they are watching the parade, something that we would do many more times on this trip...

DSC_0032.jpg

The EWP runs every night around 9:35 I believe. After that, we all got our baths and put our pajamas on and climbed into bed. That took about an hour so it was now about 10:30. As we're laying there, we begin to hear fireworks! Yeah, looking off the balcony, we could see Wishes!!! It was awesome. It wasn't the best view, but we could see it. I will never forget that first night sitting out on the balcony holding Aubrey all wrapped up in her Tinkerbell blanket. We sat there and watched the whole thing. Just the two of us. Brendan discovered that he is terrified of fire works. He came out on the balcony, saw one little spark, and high tailed it back inside, shutting the sliding door behind him:lmao: So it was just me and my baby girl watching the show. Perfect ending to a perfect first day.

I received my photopass DVD last week and have decided to share the pics with you after each day that I've reported on.

So here's the first round...

Remember the pic I teased you with about Brendan holding his hand up in the air??? Well here it is. How freaking cute!!!!!

Image0061.jpg

Really, this was so special and yet another unexpected suprise!!!

And here is the family in front of the castle. I love the borders. I swear I put a boarder on every picture...

Image0063.jpg

And I'm pretty sure those are the only photopass pics from this day, that are worth posting anyway. If I missed one, I'll be sure to post it later.

Alrighty, up next... Animal Kingdom and a wasted night :(

Wow ! Really great. Seems like your having a really great time with that . I love those cool shirts too . The kids seems to have enjoy a lot . Great post !

Great Update!!! What a magical first night!! We had a view of the EWP and wishes from our balcony at the Poly and I will miss that on this trip for sure!!!! It was so cool to be in your pj's, kids ready for bed and to have that as a special goodnight from Disney!! loved it!:lovestruc

OMG I cant belive Brendan was missing at the Pool!!!:scared1: I would have FREAKED! I kept having these crazy dreams on our trip that Owen or Myles would fall off the dock at the Poly and sink to the bottom of the lagoon- YIKES I know I think the most awful things sometimes!!!!

We are going to TREX again on our next trip. I can however appreciate that we can just take the boat from POFQ- I keep hearing how long it takes to get to DTD from the resorts!! I LOVED the pics with the handprints. What a great thing to have to remember this trip with. We always get an ornament too!!! I actually keep one hanging from our 09 trip- I loved it sooooooo much. It was the silver Mickey head and there are 3 mickey heads inside of eachother and the middle piece says "Magical Vacation 2009" - I have it hanging by our window in the livingroom!!

Looking forward to hearing more!! Come visit my pre trippie... i posted a couple pics of some t shirt designs and I need help choosing which one!!

Great update! I love the canvas pictures you got from DTD with the hand prints! It really isn't a bad deal when you think about what a keepsake they are. :)

Can't wait to hear more- sounds like you all had an exhausting day!

You're welcome for the inspiration. I have a Disney dining room. All blown up pics of scenery around the world. I'm horrible at printing out pics too. Hey they are on Photobucket and FB...everyone can see them there ;)

NEVER saw those handprint things before! How cute are they??? Well with the $$ (well at WDW anyway!)

Your kiddos are troopers...what a long day and they did great! My kinda kids with those bags of chips watching tv :thumbsup2

Ok, do you remember my earlier post about my dream when I found Brendan in the water wearing a blue tshirt??? Yeah, it must be a mom thing to have CRAZY dreams!!!

Being able to see the EWP and Wishes from our room was really cool. I remember our last night there, updating my FB status saying something like "Sitting here, listening to Wishes..." It was surreal. Definitely a bonus of the hotel location.

And I'm pretty sure I have that ornament that you have hanging in your window.

Getting to TRex on time was crazy. I hate being late!!! It all worked out. Having a boat to get you there will be very nice:thumbsup2

Love your shirt graphics, BTW. It's so much fun getting those designs!!!
Wendypooh is great and she lives here in BR!

Can't wait to hear more- sounds like you all had an exhausting day!

I was so happy to stumble upon those! And I'm so glad we decided to spend the money. I guess you're right, the price wasn't too bad. The memories are worth it:thumbsup2 You know, it sounds like it was a crazy day, but it actually wasn't bad at all. The kids were such troopers. And as you saw in my pics, they even made it through the bus ride back to the hotel! That's usually when they crash!

You're welcome for the inspiration. I have a Disney dining room. All blown up pics of scenery around the world. I'm horrible at printing out pics too. Hey they are on Photobucket and FB...everyone can see them there ;)

Your dining room sounds awesome! I need to start working on my Disney wall. Maybe I'll do that tonight. Or should I do another TR update???:rolleyes1

I love love love how the handprints came out. And all we had to do was the handprint. They sent them to our resort when they were done. Pretty cool!

The kids did great on their first busy day at Disney. Guess they take after their Mama - commandos in the making! LOL

I love your trip report! Thanks for sharing it.

Glad you're enjoying it! I'm having a blast writing it and reliving all of the memories. Many more to come!!!

I'm subscribing - I think you are now my new favorite trip reporter! I just finished your Beach Club trip report this weekend and LOVED it! You had me LOL'ing at several points. I loved the picture of your family on the surrey bike and then the one of your DH pushing it uphill. That would so be our family too! I appreciate your honesty about a trip with young children, not everything will be magical. I have a 16 month old and 4 year old, so I definitely know! We will venture to Disney next year and hope to stay at the Beach Club. I can't wait, but it's so far off still.

Can't wait to read more of your latest trip! Your family is adorable!

You are so sweet and you're making me blush:blush:! Did you really read my WHOLE Beach Club TR???:scared1: That thing was like War and Peace! It was my PTR and TR all rolled into one. Man, that whole hurricane drama, then the missing rope drop thing! Ahhhh, the memories. But it was a fabulous trip. One that I will NEVER forget and I wouldn't trade anything for it. Our first trip to Disney:lovestruc It was hectic with the two young ones but I tell you, I would do it again in a heartbeat! Your kids will be a great age on your trip. Seeing it through their eyes will be so magical. Promise:wizard: The Beach Club is amazing!!!! I dream about that pool almost every day. It's def tied as our first resort with AKL. They're both just totally different hotels so it's hard to compare them. Thanks so much for reading along and for the compliments:thumbsup2

Hello again fellow DISers. I'm excited to get on two day two - finally!!!:lmao: Our plan was to head out early but not rope drop early to Animal Kingdom. We all slept really well the night before and I still got up early but it wasn't anything crazy. It was so nice to not feel rushed in the mornings. We had seen the opening ceremony at AK before and frankly, it wasn't something that was going to get me out of bed an hour early. We were fine just taking our time and getting there whenever we got there. Thankfully, the bus for AK came right away. This was our Saints Tshirt day. Maybe you've heard of the. The New Orleans Saints?? You know, the superbowl champions?!?! (Sorry in advance to anyone out there from Indiana:) So, we put on our black and gold and were off to AK.

Now, on our first trip with the kids, they absolutely HATED the buses. So much so that we actually took a lot of cabs that trip. This trip was totally different. They loved the bus rides! Brendan actually got more excited when we told him we were going to be riding the bus than Peter Pan:confused3 Kind of like on Christmas morning when they play with the wrapping more than the toys! Anyway, the reason I am telling you this is because Aubrey created a little tradition for each bus ride. She started singing "The Wheels on the bus" over and over and over:scared: It was so cute the first 42 times, but after that, it became a little old. It did, however, entertain whomever happened to be on the bus with us at the time. So here she is with daddy singing that wonderful little ditty. I'm pretty sure this is the "The wipers on the bus go swoosh swoosh swoosh" part...

DSC_0002-1.jpg

I'm sorry. She's so freaking cute. How could this be annoying, right?! We made it to AK and started to make our way to Kilimanjaro Safari. I am a firm believer that the animals are out more in the mornings when it's still a little cool. It could be an old wive's tale, but it's still the first thing we do in AK every time nonetheless. I had told myself that I was not going to take a ton of pictures in this park. To me, it seems like everything I see there is a Kodak moment, ya know! It's just so pretty. Well, I couldn't resist taking a picture of this guy...

DSC_0006.jpg

It's a black swan. Very beautiful! Never seen one of those before so I had to take a picture, or 20. (Seriously, I have 20 pictures of this swan) Anywho, about this time Aubrey started to remind us that she wanted her face painted. Rewind a little bit to the night before at DTD. She must have seen someone with their face painted and she asked over and over if she could get hers done. I was worried to let her because the few times I have gotten her face painted in the past, it didn't end well. She would get all excited and sit still letting the person do the painting. But as soon as they were done painting, she wanted to wipe it off! Now, this is no big deal when it's just a little $2 face paint at our church fair, but at Disney that's a different story. We're talking $20 a pop here for some of the designs! You'd think they had friggin Picaso working there!:rotfl: So does anyone want to guess what you pass right by when walking to the safari??? Ding ding ding... the face painting booth. Oh and she spotted it like an eagle! We had to promise her a face paint but only after the safari. Uhhhh, gotta love Disney!

So here are Jason and the kids walking in line, about to load our bus...

DSC_0008-1.jpg

I just love this ride. I really do. It's so pretty and it's always entertaining. But I do have hundreds of pictures of every animal that lives on this safari, termite mounds that the elephants use for scratching, and the pile of ostrich eggs that just happen to be in the same spot on every ride ;) ;) So again, I was determined to just sit back and enjoy the ride and not take a ton of pics. So much easier said than done. I did good though, I really did! But I had to take the camera out when we came to the lions. I have only seen the male lion once but today, the female was out! Woo hoo! Hello Nala...

DSC_0031.jpg

And Simba was there too. Ok, I know these are not their real names, but that's what we told the kids. In fact, every lion and lioness that we see are Nala and Simba. I'm sure I'm not alone on this...

DSC_0035.jpg

Alright, so the safari was done and it was wonderful as usual. It was now time for the... dun dun dun... Face painting! I made Aubrey swear on her life that she would not complain once it was done and that we were NOT going to be wiping it off. She promised and I caved, again. Here she is with the not so friendly CM who did the painting. I mean really chick, I don't need you to do back flips or make balloon animals here but my child was obviously excatic to be getting her face painted. The least you could do is muster up a smile. And have a magical day to you too...

DSC_0041.jpg

Even though the artist was a big ole stick in the mud, her face came out beautifully. Here she is seeing it for the first time...

DSC_0046.jpg

And a pose for the camera, OF COURSE!!!

DSC_0048.jpg

And yes, I do have 45 different shots of this. I think it ended up costing $15 but I'm still getting my moneys worth out of it! And here she is showing it off to her little brother. He's kind of got that "What the heck is all over your face" kind of look going on....

DSC_0050.jpg

It really did come out great and let me tell you, whatever paint they use is truly magical. It dries like a powder and wasn't itchy at all. She NEVER even messed with it once for the rest of the day. Even when she would rub her face on our clothes, it wouldn't come off. I was paranoid about this like I was about the balloon. I kept yelling "Don't touch me with your face!" I'm sure people thought I was a horrible mother yelling that at her 4 year old but oh well:laughing: It never came off. Not a drop. Not until later that night at bath time. Then it came right off with a baby wipe. Maybe next time the whole family will get it done. I had it done once before on our "babymoon". Jason and I went to WDW and stayed a week at AKL when I was pregnant with Aubrey. It was a great trip. I remember that I rode the safari and was scared because it was pretty rough. I laid in bed that night worrying if I had made the wrong decision. Just then, I felt her kick for the very first time. It was one of the most memorable moments of my life. Anyway, sorry for that sidetrack. Let me see if I can scrounge up a pic of us with our faces painted.......Here we go...

Wow, that's an old one! And I'm pretty sure I weigh 400lbs in that pic! Ok, getting back on track now....

From the face painting adventure we decided to head on over to Rafiki's Planet Watch. The kids love the petting area and there are always characters back there with no lines. Here are the kids checking out the animals...

BTW, that is not a clip board that Jason is carrying around with him. Well, actually yes it is but on it is our autograph pillow cases. That's what we were having the characters sign this time around. Last time we did a photo mat and it came out so cute. Oh man, now I'm going to have to go and get a picture of that to show you...

Seriously people, stop getting me off track like this. I am trying to write a trip report here...:rotfl:

Here are the graphics that were on the pillow cases...

They really came out cute, but that story had a tragic ending. Something that you will just have to stay tuned for.
