As Safetymom stated, too many to deal with. Many were overlooked due to the volume of them coming in daily. Many were pages long, with photos of adorable kids, trying to impress the Room assignment people, hoping for the best room, etc. It just got way out of hand. Most were just ignored. Some guests thought because they sent a fax it was a sure thing they would get everything they asked for.
Also if you fax, then someone has to go to a computer, find your reservation in the system and match your requests to the reservation as it is downloaded into the system from CRO. That was just too much additional work, for an already overworked, understaffed, situation.
The best method is to add them to your orginial reservation. That way when your reservation is downloaded from CRO to the resort, everything is right there all together.
Wilderness Lodge took an official stance and made it public, many resorts do not read them anymore, just have not made an official announcement. If you fax them, they might not even get read. If you add them to your reservation you can be sure they will at least make it to the resort.
No request is a sure thing though. Keep it very simple and your chance for success is greater.
