WL - Courtyard VIEW or Woods VIEW ?

We have a question for WL experts. We had reservations for a WL Woods view (requesting high floor overlooking the otter pond - we love otters). When AP rates came out, no woods view rooms were available for the dates we are going, so we booked a courtyard view. I have been calling back trying to change the reservation back to a woods view with AP rates, but now I'm not sure - maybe I should leave it alone. We are 2 adults who like "quiet" hallways and the hot tub, but want a "good" view. Anyone have an opinion?

Woodsview is the outside rooms of the last wing on the north side. Very quite and relaxing. Rooms numbers approximately ##14 to ##32 offer the view of the Otter Pond and MK. We had room 5028 in July and it was perfect.

Courtyard is what it says. Looking down into the Courtyard. I am adding a link to our WL VET site, click on the WL Album and you will see pictures taken from balconies by WL Vets during their stay. Hope this helps answer your question.

I recommend you request a 5th floor room, unless you smoke, then request a 6th floor room, using the room numbers above in the north wing. If you are not satisfied with the assigned room, request a change and they will make every effort to comply.

No matter the room you will enjoy your stay at WL. I invite you to go to WL FAQ; there you will find Kimmar and her Merry Band of WL Vets. They do a lot of visiting with each other, but jump in with any question and you will have all the information you need to walk into the Lobby as a VET.

where the two north wings intersect, there are windows in the hall where you can look down to the pond.

Having stayed at the WL several times, in both courtyard and wooded view rooms, I think you will like the courtyard view room very much. We like to stay in the "bears face', the view is great, but the noise from the lobby can be heard at times. We also like a 5th. floor room.

Like any hotel, if you have a bunch of rowdy children or inconsiderate adults on your floor, then it may not be quiet in the halls, but this is the luck of the draw. Some people say all they do is sleep and shower in a room. For those people I don't think a view would mean much. If you enjoy sitting on the balcony and relaxing, then I bet you will enjoy the courtyard view. We like the rooms that face directly towards Bay Lake.

Enjoy the WL.

We loved our courtyard view when we stayed at the WL, it was wonderful. If you're facing the resort we were about half way down the hallway on the right, we looked out over the waterfall, geyser, pool and Bay lake. We could watch the water parade every night from our room. At night we even left our sliding door cracked open so we could fall asleep to the sound of the waterfall, so relaxing. This location was also very quiet. The rooms on the 7th floor do have enclosed balconies, so if you would like a traditional open one, I think the 5th or 6th floor are the best.

Have a great trip!!

Thanks for all the gret info!!!! We have booked a courtyard view...(1st time! Last time had a view of the castle over otter pond & saw MK fireworks almost every night!!!)
If I want the room that faces directly out to the lake, what do I put on my fax?? Are their certain sections to request??? I have put on my ressie a King bed, does anyone know where the king beds are located?? Any info would be appreciated!

Hop over to WL FAQ and Kimmars Merry Band of WL VETS will make you a seasoned veteran. They have been there, done that

We chit chat with each other, but just jump in with a question and all the facts will be at your finger tips.

If you like peace and quiet, you do not want to be overlooking the main pool courtyard area.

However, there is a 2nd courtyard view which is very quiet, and looks over the quiet pool and the Villas. We stayed there, and it was extremely quiet. You won't see otters or the lake, though.

We have stayed at the WL multiple times in both the Woods View and the Courtyard view.

Advantages of the Woods view:
1. quiet
2. the otter pond.
3. Request 5th floor.
4. You can see the monorail go by in the distance.
5. Partial view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks each night. (Trees partially block view but still a good view).

Advantages of the Courtyard view:
1. Beautiful breathtaking view of the Courtyard.
2. View of Bay Lake and you can view Electrical Water Pageant from your balconey each night (view is not as complete as if you were watching this from the beach though).
3. Listening to the Roaring Forks Waterfall at night. DH and I would leave the door cracked so that we could look out the window and listen to the waterfall.
4. Depending on where your room is you may be able to see the geyser go off each hour.
5. If you close the sliding glass door and curtains the room becomes almsost noiseless.

Our request for Courtyard view is
=overlooks main pool and geyser
=5th floor about halfway down the wall. This way you will be far enough from the elevators but yet close enough to go to Roaring Forks for the mickey treats. Also if you are on the far end of the north wing some of the trees may obstruct your view.

The rooms that face Bay Lake are Suites.

Have a great time and welcome "Home."

I looked at some of our room receipts and room 5125 faces Bay Lake. We stayed in it and it has two beds, not king and not a suite. Rooms also facing Bay Lake are 5123, 5127 and 5129. I believe these also face Bay Lake 5035, 5037, 5039 and 5041. I also believe the same numbers on the 4th. floor face the lake 4125, 4127, etc. I don't know which ones have king beds, two queens or bunk beds and some may be jr. suites, but I know some are rooms only and not suites. We did stay in room 5125 and I would recommend it for the view. I'm sure if you call the WL front desk they can tell you which of these rooms may have a king bed. I copied these room numbers down on one our trips to for future reference. We have stayed at WL 15 times and really enjoy it.

We like the "bears face" best, but it may be too much noise for you.

Good luck and enjoy your trip.

I just talked to a very nice CM at the front desk at the WL and she said rooms 4129, 5129, 4037 and 5037 have king beds and do face Bay Lake. She said these aren't handicapped rooms, but regular rooms. She also said call them 4 days before your arrival and they will try to block off the room for you.

WL phone # 407-824-3200 and ask for the front desk.

WOW - I am overwhelmed with all the information. I am slowly working my way through the WL FAQ, but still have a long way to go. Two questions for now:

1 - What is the "bear's face"?

2 - Is there a floorplan map with the room numbers on it anywhere? There is one on the Yacht Club site - not sure if was copied from Disney or if someone did it on their own.

Still not sure what view we would rather have - any one else have an opinion?

Thanks,

Anne

The WL is shaped like a "U". The "bears face" is the area in the curve of the "U". If I'm not mistaken it only has the 4th. and 5th. floor rooms. The room door opens overlooking the lobby. Great sight when the Christmas tree is up. Very close to the main elevators. It's a short walk to the nooks that have stuffed couchs and chairs in front of fireplaces. These are on the 4th and 5th floors above the main entrance to the lobby.

It is called the "bears face" because when coming to the WL by boat at night, the lighting and structure in this area makes it look like a bears face.

It is across the back of the Lodge. The lights are his eyes and nose and the dormers on top is his ears. Pretty cool sight. We were coming back from FW one night and the CM pointed it out for us.

I've wondered about the courtyard view as my one stay at WL was in a Woods view to the side of the otter pond - and we loved it! Never saw the otters once darn but it's very relaxing area, we were to right of pond and could see the lake through the trees in the other direction. On 5th floor, my sister said she could see some fireworks over the trees at night (I wasn't in at that time). It was so peaceful and pretty, saw lots of birds around the pond, I think I might prefer it over a courtyard view - but either will probably be beautiful! Don't count on those otters though, maybe we weren't in the room at the right time for them or something!
Have a great trip!
