WL boats; can stroller go right on?

We are contemplating WL or CR for our Aug. '08 trip. We stayed at ASMo last time but I detested having to close and open the stroller for the bus trip. We agreed that this trip we would stay at a monorail resort, however I've heard such great things about WL that I'm considering it. The question is can I keep the stroller open getting on and off the boat? I read one post that said something about there being smaller and larger boat, and the smaller boats require you to close up the stroller. Any info. would be so appreciated.

Yes, there are 2 boats. The larger boat goes to MK and you can stroll right on, provided there is room. The smaller boat goes to CR and you need to fold up your stroller.

Motor Cruisers (larger) go to the MK, and you can roll the stroller on.
Motor Launchers (smaller) go to FWC and CR require you to fold up the stroller


Also remember you can roll the stroller right on the monorail ar CR, and the monorail is probally faster than a WL boat.

You can also walk to the MK from the CR which is nice. Its really short too. (about 5 min.)

Actually, we just got back from WL and sometimes you get the smaller boats going to MK as well. You do have to fold the stroller on the smaller boats and if there is room on the larger boat you will be allowed to roll it right on. It was hit or miss on our trip.

Thanks, I was going to mention this also. We have stayed at the WL many times and often they will sub the smaller boat during the day and as a back up when it gets very crowded. Also during the mid-day we get the smaller boat too. Strollers have to be folded on the small boats.

I stayed at the WL Nov. 28-Dec. 5. At that time they had two boats that went to MK. One was the motor launch and the other was the motor cruiser. If the motor launch shows up while you are in line the next boat would be the motor cruiser. I hope that makes sense. Not sharing a boat with FW was a great improvement.

It's been a while since I was aboard a motor cruiser, but if I recall correctly, they have limited stroller parking areas in the bow seating areas and around the gangway, and no stroller areas aft of the gangway. I can remember being stuck on board a few times as parents tried to extricate their strollers from the parking areas and jockey them around the gangway to get off the boat.

This is only a concern during very busy transportation times, but it's something to keep in mind, so that you don't come home screaming on the boards about how awful the MK boat from WL is because you couldn't get your stroller on or off.

Steel ramps are not used for boarding motor cruisers or motor launches. The steel ramps, located at each resort hotel dock served by the WDW boats on 7 Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake, are used only if a ferry boat is required to dock there which is about "every 4th leap year".

I think Rusty meant the man-portable steel ramps (though I actually think they're aluminum, not steel) that every WDW boat dock has, including those on bay Lake, the Seven Seas Lagoon, Crescent Lake, the World Showcase Lagoon, and the Sasogoula River; they are placed by hand between the dock and the watercraft to allow ECVs and strollers to embark and debark.

The motor cruiser docks DO have these ramps, but as Rusty said, they cannot be used if the watercraft is more than a foot or two higher or lower than the dock, or they would become sliding boards, not ramps.

The docks at the CR, WL, GF, Poly, and FWC have ramps, however - they are not used for boarding of launches or motor cruisers...ferry boats only. Sorry, Rusty and you are totally incorrect as far as the use of ramps for boarding WDW Watercraft operations on 7 Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake.

Are you saying you can now take boats to MK from WL without going to FW too?
Will this be during the slow times? We are staying at WL first week of Feb. and it sure would be nice not to have to take the ride to FW as it can get a bit nippy on the boats at that time of year.

There have been changes in the routes from the MK to the WL and from the MK to the FWC. These changes are not seasonal, temporary or done only during slow times of the day. See the following for additional info:
