Aaaaah! Trying to decide between WL for 5nights or Poly for 4 nights. We have three kiddos ages 6, 4, and 18 months at the time we travel, the first week of December. I prefer the rooms and monorail at Poly, but the actual resort of the WL and boatride to MK and FW campground for touring sounds great. i know it will be hit or miss for swimming weather, we plan to do 2ish days at MK and half days at each of the others with the rest of the time touring the other hotels. Kind of on the fence about the dining plan bc we'd likely only do TS at Chef Mickeys and don't mind CS the rest of the time with kids who aren't likely expand their palate past good ole Pb&j and fruits and veggies.

Any input to help sway us either way? Generally we are more of a beachy type family vs mountain lodge and i know we'd love the monorail but an extra night for nearly the same price has me stuck! Oh and this will be our only chance to be at Disney after Thanksgiving and before Christmas for at least 10+ years bc of DH's job. We will certainly be back before then, just during the spring or fall. And this is our third time as a family to Disney, having stayed at Bonnet Creek previously, but with such a shorter trip, wanted to stay on site this time.

I would choose WL. :thumbsup2

Besides the fact that the WL is our favorite resort, (pure heaven :cloud9: ), I am also avoiding the Poly at all costs due to the extensive construction that's set to begin next month. :crazy2: If I am paying that much for a room, I don't want to deal with less than ideal conditions, but that's just me.

The only downside as I see it, is that the WL rooms are smaller than the Poly, so for you as a family of five, it might be a little :crowded: but manageable. It wouldn't bother my family one bit since we are very :grouphug: but I know that the WL room size bothers a lot of people.

Good luck deciding! :goodvibes

Okay, I didn't realize that the construction was starting before 2014. Hmmmmm. Well that complicates stuff, haha.

Even thou Poly is my favorite resort, I would choose WL to have the extra day. It is harder to leave Disney than not staying at Poly

So a quick search on here and I see lots of stuff about construction. In my defense, we've never considered the poly before , haha! And of course DH just finally said he wants to stay at the Polynesian ten seconds before I read about the construction.

That's a tough choice as we've stayed at both and the Poly is our favorite resort, but we love the WL during the holidays. If Christmas decorations are important to you, I'd go with the WL; otherwise, the Poly will have a much larger room and is just amazing. This is just my opinion, but I wouldn't be too concerned about construction for this year. Construction walls are supposed to be going up next month in preparation for DVC, but the Poly is such a beautiful resort that there are plenty of areas to enjoy where construction might not even be noticeable (IMO). Good luck deciding, although I'm sure you'll have a great trip no matter which resort you choose.

First, for the holiday decorations and extra day I vote for WL. It's just a Christmas kind of resort. Second, "... preparation for DVC." Did I miss something? DVC at Poly?

More time at WDW is great so I'd go with WL. Besides, IMO, it has the best feel for the holidays- warm and homey.

After night 4 at the Poly you would think "oh nooo we have to leave, I wish one more night"

You will be happy when you do the 5 nights at WL

;)

Yes, there is talk that DVC is going in at the Poly. From what I've read, construction walls are supposed to be going up the beginning of September in preparation for construction to begin. Of course, anything can change, but that's what is being reported as of now.

I agree with OPs, WL is heavenly in Dec, you have the extra night, and Poly construction is starting.

You mentioned the weather would be iffy for swimming, someone correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the pool heated at WL?

Tom

We were at WL last year in November. The pool is heated. I would definitely choose WL for the extra night, and also because we personally prefer WL to Poly. We enjoy the boat ride to the MK and the feeling of the resort, especially during the holidays!

For all reasons already noted, I would go WL. We just switched our Nov trip from the Poly to GF due to construction starting. Christmas decorations at WL are lovely and an extra day is a deciding factor, IMO.

We offer one more vote for WL. We prefer it to the Poly because it is all in one building and we love the view and decor, but when you add in the fact that the savings mean you get to spend an extra night, it makes the decision even easier. Having the holiday decorations up will be beautiful too. :thumbsup2

Thank you so much everyone! I think I'm sold on the WL! DH is still firmly in The Polynesian camp! Aack! I really think we are going to have to flip a coin!
