Wk Of Oct 14 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Hello, WISHers!

Just got back from a 5K where I was on the scream team for DD (her first race) and DH. It was the Heroes Run at Campbell University; a very small race. I was hoping DD would finish in 30 or under. She finished in 25:25! That is with minimal training (as you recall, usually with me yelling at her that she can do this!). She got 2nd in her age group! She is so excited and realizes what she could have done if she had really trained. She can't wait for her next race! :rotfl: DH finished right behind her in 25:32. I had predicted 25:30 for his so I was pretty much right on. He got 3rd in his age group, so we're heavy on the hardware!

Today's a rest day for me. I'll do a run tomorrow instead; just too busy today.

MSDave - Good to "see" you! Good luck at MCM!

Christa - Glad to know you're human!

Jackie - This was a really nice little 5K. It did a loop twice around the campus of Campbell; took us about an hour to get there.

Happy training, all!

A quick post between weekend chores, Lynnda is out of the house right now so I can sneak on the computer. :rolleyes1

Christa (AKA Jaime Sommers) - That is a great time. You will have no problem getting to a BQ time. :worship:

Lynnda just came back in so I will have to wait to tell everyone why I almost needed the bail fund this morning during my long run. :rolleyes1

Hey Guys!

Christa - HOLY MOLEY!!! You are like a super hero!! I can't even fathom running that hard for that far...I'm super impressed!!!

Bill - Ummm yeah...who's Jaime Sommers? Should I know? I'm almost 29.

Renee - Tell your fam that I said congrats on the 5K! They did great! And it sounds as if the DD is hooked...nice!

Jackie - Glad to see you got out there...but take care of that foot!

My new found running buddy is backing out of our run for tomorrow, so it looks like I'll be going it alone again. She didn't think that I ran "the whole time" and doesn't think she can do it. Soooo...maybe I'll get her to go on a recovery day or something. I was just looking forward to the company on the long run. I get lonesome out on those trails...not to mention it would be a heck of a lot safer! Anyhow...tonight it's sushi and sake...then on to a haunted prison!! YAY for Halloween!!! Hope you all have had a good Saturday!!

:sad2: Alright; I'm old. The "new" Bionic Woman series is a remake of a show from the 70's (?) which starred...

Renee - Tell your fam that I said congrats on the 5K! They did great! And it sounds as if the DD is hooked...nice!
Thanks! She definitely is. Now DS wants to join her for a 5K in November!

Well, once again I am so behind on this thread. I have read all the posts, I just find it hard to find time to respond to everyone. So, I will try to catch up with everybody!

Today is a rest day for me before my LR of 9 miles tomorrow, this week is a step back week for me before upping my mileage next week!

Angie--Sorry about your USF Bulls. As a huge Rutgers fan, I was ecstatic!! It was a great game, although RU made some mistakes, and USF had alot of penalties. It was awesome! also, I am glad to hear you got to run this week!!

Lou--Hope the knee pain is getting better. :wizard: And you still got in all that mileage. Make sure you take care of yourself.

monte--SNOW! already...yikes! Please don't send any of that to the east coast, I am just NOT ready for the winter!!!

Dana--Glad to hear you had an AWESOME 9 miler! I feel like sometimes finishing a run is all mental. I have that problem myself, I tell myself that I need to stop because I am tired...but in reality, I KNOW I can finish it, I just have to believe it sometimes! Keep up the good work, you are doing awesome!

Cindy--Awesome job on your half!! That is a great time!

Renee--WTG for finishing that 16 miler despite the weather conditions. Great time too! Good luck in your upcoming races!

Leana--YOu are in San Fran by now..I hope the race goes well, can't wait to hear the race report!!

Christa--WOW! Awesome job on your 20 miler...I can only dream about keeping up that pace for 20 miles!! You are amazing!!

Bill--Who is Jaime Sommers??? I am 32 and I have never heard of her, must be before my time!

Hope everyone has great LR's this weekend!!

It maybe snowing here, but I'm thinking of the beach. I just registered for the Virginia Beach Rock-n-Roll half on Aug. 31st. My sister is going with and this will be her first marathon. Yeah!:cool1:
