Tracey: You and VIC and NASCAR...is this a FL thing? (
Bill and Tricia want to weigh in on this one? And
Mike, Kim and Judy, what are you doing in this gang? You're ruining my theory!

) Great job on your Sunday racewalk--I'm definitely sweating at the pace, even in cooler weather. P.S. Leapin' lizards!!!
Vic: Funny anecdote from this weekend. We stopped at a travel plaza on the way home today and I saw one of the claw machines with toys in them. There were several stuffed NASCAR toys, so I thought it would be cool to win one for you. Two dollars worth of quarters later, I felt foolish and decided I didn't like you well enough to lose AGAIN.

(But I did think of you.) Btw, I hope your ankle hurts--so I guess I do like you enough to be worried about you because, hey, concern is free.
Mel: What, no-frills running? What's that like--I generally like to pretend I'm the Macgyver of running and am loaded down (without duct tape, though).
Jeff: I'll show you my bling if you show me yours.

Wait...you've already done that. I got what I wanted, that little vicarious thrill, and so I was just kidding about exposing my medals...
Jackie: That was a FABULOUS mile, and the conditions weren't half-bad either.

Your season is going to go fast, isn't it?!
Mike: Sounds like a fun weekend, even without a good night's sleep and a skipped run. Was the booze of a sufficiently high quality?
Jen: Your post-1/2 plans sound a lot like mine, without the 5Ks I think. (Budget cuts so we can afford ToT.) Maybe we can compare notes?
Scott: Heigh-Ho Silver (Comet), Away!! Have you been working on that cadence thing? I need to read that TR of yours. So....have you started the scavenger-hunt planning yet? I'm not going to forget about it, you know.
Amy: Strange question--are you and/or Scott in the 50 state club? Considering it? It'd be a great excuse for travel.

Thanks for the tip about the running/yoga DVD. I'm so sorry to hear about the food poisoning--it WAS a crummy week for you in a lot of ways, I know, but remember you are our XT inspiration! (I'm recommitting myself to some quality XT now that Cleveland's done.)
MLA: Good luck with starting C25K! IT sounds like your first day went well, despite some cramps. Don't let your cat talk you out of it--they're awfully persuasive in lobbying for the cuddle time.
Ms. Duckie:
on your first judged racewalk & a PR. Plus, I think being DLF is worth bragging rights; it's a badge of honor and a sign that you're committed to your sport.
Liz: I'm so sorry to hear about your leg! Your accident sounds so scary--I would have panicked, I think.

I'm glad the news from your doc is (fairly) good, that you got some good (legal) drugs, and that you seem to be feeling optimistic about Rockford this weekend.
Aloha Jeff: Wow--your pink group is doing just great! (Ms Duckie and I will cheer from the sidelines.) And I think you're doing a great job making sure everyone stays healthy on the run. Pre-K graduation--another wow! Princess #2 sure looks happy. Are you sure ice cream isn't also part of your RX; I like to think of ice cream as WISH recommended, at the very least.
MB Michelle: I'm sorry to hear about doing your first 5K in that heat--I can't imagine. But I'm impressed you got through it and I hope it bodes well with your upcoming tri. P.S. I think it's great that you've jumped right in to both a tri & a 1/2...and that they're both at DL.
Steve:
Blah, blah, blah...26 miles....8-10 miles.....blah, blah, blah...blah, blah, blah....194 miles....blah, blah, blah...but all I heard is blah, blah, blah...Porn.

I do have to say that you're putting in amazing miles on the bike, too, and I look forward to reading more tips about biking for me to crib from.
TXAng: Great job with your 5K and PR. And it's good to have you back on board. I'm looking forward to reading your RR.
Leana: What a weekend!

Am I understanding you right in that your commute to work takes about an hour? Very impressive...and so good for the environment and your gas bills.
Kira: Good idea for the RR shirt and night running! The lime green certainly gets people's attention!
SamSam: What a great story about DH and biking. It always helps to remember to keep our senses of humor when learning new things. And DH sounds like his learning curve is sharper than mine--'nuff said.
Kim: How is C25K coming along?
Morgan: Running around in circles? That kind of describes my life, let alone my running...

So you got caught in the rain yesterday, too. Such fun. I can't believe you toughed it out without the incentive of a race. You're a tougher bunny than I am.
Krista: I love your plans for getting through your pregnant summer. I get unnaturally hooked on the Olympics, so it sounds like heaven. (Okay, maybe not being the pregnant in the summer heat, but the expectations for Carter's arrival & the games...pretty cool.) I hope your check up gives you all the good news you desire, although I don't think the okay for springtime tanning will be given.
Stacie: What fun! Another anniversary celebration. I have to say, it sounds like May has been a great month for you--and deservedly so.
Tricia: What a busy, almost hectic, weekend. It sounds like all that work on the home front is pretty extensive. If not XT, at least HR raising.
Judy: Hugs for your illness. Double hugs for setting high standards for your NASCAR drivers.

Oh, and
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
(Thanks for the intel,
Pat!)
Pat: Good luck this weekend. You and Jen (and everyone else) will have a blast, I'm sure!

P.S. DOOD's doing the 50 state quest, too, and just getting started on it. He'll love knowing it's your goal, too.
Cam: Good job with C25K. I'd rather do that than carry that heavy briefcase of yours. How are you enjoying the Wii?? (Not to taunt Morgan or Johanna.)
Cecilia: Ouch, ouch, ouch! I hope your hands heal--I'm impressed with your DS8's arm. And with your whole baseball-playing family and packed weekend. No wonder your legs are sore.
Kristi:
for camping with tasty beverages

--with or without the s'mores. Wow, withholding the Indiana Jones' legos; that would certainly be incentive for me. Hope you're feeling better soon.
Johanna: Well, having the Wii Fit not being available did score you more gear...that sounds pretty good. Unfortunately, I'm into immediate gratification, so I understand the feeling.
Maura: WTG with your spontaneous fartlek run. I think for a dog, every run is a fartlek. So Buddy sounds like a great training partner and obviously knows how to motivate you for your run.
Megan: Denial--my favorite bad workout strategy!!

But you went out, you got them done, and you came back here to taunt us with your lack of detail. No fair!

(At the same time, WTG for building our expectations for next time. Very savvy.)
Rich: You SHOULD be happy with your time--fabulous! I got rid of my garbage bag at around mile 5, too, but our times were so different. DOOD's cousin-in-law is pushing for us to do Akron Run the Bird Marathon, which is a race he volunteers for. We might think about it, depending on scheduling. After all, they do offer free Brooks shoes to everyone who finishes in 6 hours. (Not that that would be me...). Oh, and read below...*I* didn't get to meet any WISHers, as DOOD has all the luck.
Claire: Haven't seen you on the weekly thread in a while? I hope you're enjoying some post-pre-semester fun!!
As for me: I'll get up my RR sometime tomorrow, but you should all know that I finished the Cleveland 1/2 and lived to tell the tales. It wasn't a rousing success, the rain caused blisters. Anyway, I missed my hoped-for goal time, but I did set a PR. So I'm disappointed by my time, but I ran the best race I could run under the conditions. DOOD also missed his goal but achieved a PR. He also met Optimator Mike on the course--I didn't see Mike--so any suspicions that DOOD is a figment of my imagination can be set to rest. (Now, you can begin to ask yourselves whether I paid a stranger to approach Mike on the course and impersonate my DH.)
I was also very pleased by the Cleveland marathon. It's a nice scenic course, fairly flat (although I think races are never as flat as I imagine flat), with some rock and roll entertainment, cool shirts and medals, a well-organized expo, and VERY generous pacing requirements (4 hour limit on 1/2, 8 hour on full). DOOD and I left after his race, but returned to see the DLF. Very nice moment.
One anecdote to keep you satisfied until my RR, one that I think stands in for why I

WISH. I was at the gear check-in after my 1/2 when a woman approached me to ask me about my WISH shirt. She was with a group of women who saw the back of our shirt & loved its message. I probably wasn't very articulate, as I was a bit tired, but I did my best to explain WISH and what we stand for beyond the basics of the DISboards and Disney. In my stumbly-bumbly way, I told her of the big difference you've made in my life, and how you were with me every step of my race. I told her that I don't think I would have started to train for Cleveland without you all, let alone have gotten to the start line on such a cold, rainy Sunday. Finally, I told her that I wore the shirt because I believe its message is for anyone who has the courage to take that first step.
So, thank you WISHers, for helping me find my courage. I couldn't have done this one without you.
