Where's the Tag Fairy when you need her? :lmao:

I have ceased believing in the tag fairy . How many posts do you have to have to get tagged around here? :confused3 ;)

BTW, Carrie...congrats on the new job! :goodvibes

Short drive by

I did 5k on the TM pretty fast today and was feeling rather pleased with myself. I come back to the office to see if I can get a little closer to seeing my actual desk (wonder what color the wood is anyway?), and I see an enormous bucket full of chocolates in the copy room!!! It's the good stuff too... I'm trying not to think about it right now...

Hi guys! Got back from Vegas late Tuesday night. We had a nice time and Cirque du Soleil The Beatles Love was absolutely incredible! :hippie:

Well, unlike the Disney cruise, Poly and Vero Beach trips I was not good and didn't run in Vegas. Really, I think I maybe got eight hours sleep the whole entire trip!

I missed two runs in my maintenance program. I thought about trying to catch up, but instead just skipped them and went ahead and ran my third run for the week yesterday.

It about killed me! Wow, one week off and it hurt! I ran 4.55 miles at an average pace of 11:57, running 5 / walking 1. I'm hoping it was due to eating too much and not sleeping enough - I did gain one pound while I was gone.

Anyway, I hope everyone has been well and training has been good. :goodvibes

Okay now it's 7.01am Saturday morning here and I'm now unbearably excited as it's 2 hours away from me being able to buy HP- Tim won't get up and so I'm having to surf online without reading anywhere that might give it away. I have decided that the best thing about living at this part of the world is that you get to buy Harry Potter as it's released without sleeping outside the bookstore! Although the last one was easy - I pottered (no pun intended) down to my local bookstore at 10 minutes before it was released expecting huge queues - there were about 10 people in the preorder queue and no-one else so I was the first person to get mine - not sure it's going to be that easy in Sydney though it's a much bigger town. Also, it's our anniversary today (18 years!) and Tim won't tell me if he's actually preordered one or not so I've no idea what's going on...

Oh, isn't this thread supposed to be about running!!! Not done any, might go in a minute.......Hmmm, 1 hour 57 now - maybe I'll go book hire cars for Orlando to pass the time. Helen

Okay Carrie I am obviously way behind here. New job? Details, we want details.

Not today, apparently... just Harry Potter! DD16 is going to Borders, Renee, with a friend - our book is pre-ordered at B&N at Triangle, but she's going to the party as Ginny Weasley so we decided she's buying a copy there for a friend who can't go, and I'll pick up our copy after my LR tomorrow morning. Like you, I still kinda want to go over there and get a dose of the madness - just don't know if I want to be there till midnight since I'm supposed to be at the park by 6:15! I'll be thru running before she gets off work tomorrow, but she'll claim the book as soon as she gets home, but she'll probably finish by dinnertime, so maybe by tomorrow @ midnight I'll know all the secrets!

Jackie- 94 degrees at 5:30p, ouch! I had a couple runs when DW was down at the lake. Now that I think about it, the run I came back from where I was changing and she called me in tears was 92 degrees at 5:30p. I went out oblivious to it, and had a horrible run where I had to walk in the last 1/2 mile. You just reminded me about that because when I was driving back from the lake with the family, I joked with my wife - "you know what? I had a really lousy run too..."

I gave up on running last night. Talked DD into walking with me  - so we did an easy 3 miles at a 17 minute pace. Anything faster and she started whining. In the end, I figured it was the miles that counted.

SunnyAnd I respectfully disagree with you and your family. I think I can speak for many of us when I say that when we are struggling with a stonker or some minor pain and we think of you and your courage and grace....You ARE inspiring!

Absolutely 100% what she said!

Had a really stressful day at work today - we had to terminate an employee who did NOT take it well. We actually closed early, then DH and I wandered around an outdoor mall for a while. Stopped and bought more Clif Shots and looked at more running gear - nothing like a little shopping therapy to unwind! 5 1/2 hours till Harry Potter...

Us fools will be out at midnight picking up a preordered copy, pretending its for my kids. Oh heck, who's pretending. I am reading it first!!!!:thumbsup2

To all you HP fans - ENJOY! I can't wait!!!

I found out that I can go to WalMart at 8:00 to get a bracelet marking my place in line to buy a copy at midnight -- not as fun as Barnes & Noble but a lot closer to home ... Of course I'd be sleeping through DS's soccer tournament tomorrow because once I start I'm not stopping until I'm done! (Does that count as XT?)

Xtraining today was wlking around town Auburn IN - they have all these amazing statues by J Seward Johnson

Hoping to do a 5 mile on Sunday - 1 week before my first ever race... not that I'm counting or anything!! :rolleyes1

OK, I am way behind this week with Posts. Just wanted to update you all on my cross training garage sale. We made $300 today... and there is still tomorrow. I didn't even think we had that much stuff out there. So tonight DH are clean housing and going through boxes. We are going to be so tidy after this garage sale. And all that cash is being put away for spending money for our WDW trip next month. I am so excited!

OK Carrie - What is this about the job? I knew you had an interview. Did I miss something?

Sara - yes, my boys are going to Saratoga. I am actually very tempted to make a roadtrip since someone from the fan club cannot go to the show now, and needs to unload their tickets. And, if I go, I can help USA Harvest collect canned goods (and um, go backstage again!). But I digress.... ;)

Maggie - Zack just turned 4. Now if we can ever get this playset finished, it will be a miracle!

About "Kristi" - there was another Kristi around here awhile back. And like some said, I am a redhead. But also, my best friend's name is also Kristi. In college they differentiated us by calling me "Kristi Red." And it is all downhill from there, as she was called "Kristi Balls." And I cannot for the life of me remember why - but it stuck. :confused3 :rotfl:

Karen - I hope you are enjoying my boys tonight at PNC!

Judy - I'd be excited about a newly paved road too - woo hoo!

Sunny - you stop it! You are amazing and that's all there is to it, girl!

Jen - great job on the yard sale! We are pack rats (Chad especially) and I really need to have another sale myself. I think I am going to go through things until next spring, packing them up and pricing as I go. Then I'll be all set for an April or May yard sale.

Krista - so what was your big birthday surprise??

I guess I am in the minority and don't understand all this Harry Potter stuff. I love to read but for some odd reason those never appealed to me. I haven't even seen the movies. I am weird, I suppose.

I got nothing done training-wise today. I was so looking forward to a nice wog too (really!). I have been on the phone since I got home around noon. First I was talking to someone about the whole canned goods drive going on at the Goo Goo Dolls concerts for quite awhile. Then I spent hours on the phone with the 4 bridesmaids and mother of the groom for the wedding I am in in October. This bridal shower just may be the death of me! :rotfl:

I am now off to bed since I am working very early tomorrow (covering a vacation).
Thank God I am on vacation next week!

well i never managed a XT session yesterday - i was feeling sorry for myself i guess and sipped my coffee and let the morning slip away

i'm already dressed for a powerwalk this morning -- will head out in an hour or so after DD is safely off for her dog show today.

MS -- are you cruising with Disney? i love to talk about Disney cruises! speaking off......Howard and Cam are boarding the WONDER tomorrow!!

Good morning WISH Team.

I normally work evenings but I'm working day shift today so I can race this evening.

The race is a 2 mile walk race followed by the 5K run race. This is one of our best local walk races. They give good prizes so it draws a nice crowd. I'm drinking my coffee right now from a mug I won there last year. They award the top 5 finishers with mugs and the first male and female walker get $100. I don't plan on winning since all my Ky buddies from the Senior Olympics will be there as well as several younger racewalkers. Most will be power and fitness walkers. Last year there were over a hundred walkers that showed. That is a good turnout for a small town walk race.

The manager of the local Finishline store offered to supply Erica and I with our race outfits and give us an employee discount on all our purchases if we wore Finishline shirts to race. I told him we would in our local races but out of town we represent the WISH Racing Team.

I hope everyone who is injured is doing better today. An injury makes us mentally tougher, it still sucks but it does build character. See what characters most of us are already.

Remember a smile is more aerodynamic than a frown. You encounter less resistance when you smile.

Have an amazing day y'all.

Dave:hippie:

This is one race I will NEVER be doing! :lmao:

Hello everyone,

Today I ventured into new territory as a did my first LR into double digits. I was scheduled to do 10 miles this week and I decided to take the LR to Philadelphia as I was getting bored running through the back roads of South Jersey.

I lived in Philly for 9 years and there is nothing like running, biking or roller blading along the Schuylkill River (try spelling Schuylkill correctly). If you are not familiar with Philly the Schuylkill River runs through Fairmount Park and is arguably one of the most scenic urban parks in the USA. It's famous for rowing.

What a run! I expected to do the 10 miles in 100 minutes but found that the good weather, scenic views, and 100's of other runners had me fired up and I did the run in 91:58. I could have gone faster but I decided to take a detour up the Art Museum steps (i.e. Rocky) which was a little tiring.

I basically started at the Art Museum, stayed on the east river side past Boat House Row, and went to the Falls Bridge (4+ miles). Then it was down West River drive, which is closed on the weekends for recreation so you have a bike trail and 4 lanes of open highway to run on. I went down west river to the Art Museum area and past Fairmount Water Works (awesome view). Then it was down the Parkway to Logan Circle (site of Pope John Paul II's mass in 1980). Back up the Parkway to the Art Museum and up Rocky's step.

I know most of you can't relate to the area but if you ever get to Philly you absolutley need to run along the Schuylkill River and climb the Art Museum steps. It is as nice as any urban park I have been to including, Central Park NYC and Balboa Park in San Diego. I'm biased of course. This is basically the course I ran http://www.runphilly.com/Assets/runphilly/images/pdr_07_coursemap_color.jpg, minus the 3 miles into Center City Philadelphia.

Well, this was, by far, the highlight of the first 5 weeks of training. I'm even more fired up for Disney and am thinking I may even try to do the Philly marathon in November (we'll see).

Hello Everyone

Still having a really hard time keeping up with posts but I wanted to give you a training update. I have not run on the treadmill in over a year. We started out only running on the treadmill and then last summer when we started training for RFTT we started only running outside. Anyway with the heat and my back problems I decided to try the treamdmill when I went to the gym.

I did 1/2 hour core class, then body pump (weight lifting - I left out anything that would be hard on my back)

Then I got on the treadmill and I did 5!!!!
Again, since I have not run on the treadmill in a long time, I forgot how fast 6.0 - a supposed 10 minute mile feels. I don't think it's right, I felt like I was booking it but I ran most of it around 6.5.

Anyway, off to the beach, I will read and catch up with everyone later.

Hey all. Today DH brought the laptop out so I have something to do. I spent the morning running and then garage saling myself, so now I am stuck watching our garage sale while DH takes the girls to the pool. Today is much slower than yesterday, but I expected that.

This morning I got out for an 8 mile wog. The plan called for 10, but I switched to 8 and will do 10 next weekend. I just felt like I needed that instead. My body felt great, but I took it super slow, I mean REALLY slow. I was doing R3/W2. But it felt good. When I got home my PF really kicked in, but no where near where it was in May. So I can stretch it out.

OK, it's hard to read the treads on this laptop with no mouse. I will check in later.

Thanks everyone for calling me an inspiration. You all make me feel guilty; like I'm on a pedistal or something. Just ask my family, I don't belong on ANY pedistal. It's easy to conceal the evidence online! :rotfl:
Don't worry, that pedistal isn't anythihng you can't fall from. We'll catch ya! You are an inspiration and no matter, that will never change.

Stonker for me to report: I got in my 10 miles today. I knew at first steps that it was not going to be my day. I just dug in and kept putting in one step after another and finally came to the end of those 10 miles. It took me 2:34 to do it for a 15:28 pace. Well within CDC, but not in my comfort zone for WDW. Oh well, I need a nap and then we are going to play with the neighbors.

Craig, I'm so happy that you are having fun with this now.

I took my Mom to the bakery after my stonker and on the way home I thought I'd stop off at the store to just see...well I walked out with HP and Mom will be the first to read it. I enjoy that the author has almost single-handedly brought reading to many children and adults (I like to keep up with what the kidlets are interested in). I do not like that she is tired of the gift she has been given and will be eliminating characters so she will not feel forced to continue writing, sigh.

Have a great weekend all.
