Wk of Jan 8--2007 WISH Walking/Running Club

I just officially signed up for the '07 half marathon. :cool1: I'm hoping to improve on my time from this years half.

I enjoyed looking at the photos for the full on asiorders. Here's hoping the half photos will be up soon.

I've probably been doing too much excercise this week considering the half was not quite a week ago. I've got a job interview this afternoon and I've been trying to burn off nervous energy. Wish me luck...I tend to stress out quite a bit before interviews.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!! :wizard:

Hi Judy,
I waited to resond until I spoke to my DH- who is a microbiologist who specilized in sterilization issues for injectable drugs. He laughed. He thought companies printing such things would be more of a "CYA" issues as he put it and also to further urge people to buy water.

Of course you wouldn't want to use the same bottle over and over without washing it- but a few times won't hurt anything or anyone. I would be careful making sure the water didn't sit in the bottle for great lengths of time however- as this would increase the chances of such issues.

Hope this helps.

Hi Celeste, thanks very much! I don't let it sit in the bottle because I am trying really hard to drink a lot of water. ::yes::

BTW, I just realized what your screen name was....I C U Nurse. I was reading it like some funky Aztec word or something. :crazy2: OK, I'm a dolt. :teeth:

Celeste...happy belated birthday :cake: :bday: !

Maggie...happy belated birthday:cake: :bday:!

I'm working on assembling the list for 2007...just added another page to the spreadsheet ;) . It's a little harder to keep track this year with so many different races that everyone's doing :scratchin . So far, there's 26 of us :grouphug:

Mel, Christa...will you be joining us next year? ::yes::

Anyone hear from Lisa (MickeySP) or Frances? I haven't seen their results posts yet. Seems like Sunny, Carrie and Lily aren't back from WDW yet.

Did anyone on our team get swept?

What spreadsheet? 26 of us doing what? :hyper:

Judy

Christy - Good luck!

A question for all you big dogs out there. This was the first 1/2 marathon I have ever run, let alone the furtherest I've ever run. I finished in 2 hrs 14 mins. & felt pretty ok afterwards. I want to sign up for the full next year, but am wondering how hard of a transition it would be from the 1/2 to the full. I mean, it's one thing running 13 miles & feeling ok, but having that be only the half-way point is a totally different thing.

I spoke w/ 2 people who ran the full for the first time (they had run half b-4) & they said the difference between the 2 is like night & day. The full wasn't really "fun" like the 1/2. Am I being way too overly optimistic thinking I could run the full?

I've had some issues w/ my knees this year, but plan to let them completely heal for a while now. I just don't want to bite off more than I can chew. I mean, what if I do the MFM training schedule & when that LR surpasses 13 miles (the longest I've done) I can't do it? I dunno, just don't want to sign-up on what might be a false sense of confidence b/c I'm still on a high from the 1/2. Maybe I should just work on a better time for the 1/2 & forego sp? the full.

Thoughts anyone?

Judy

I kept a list last year, on a spreadsheet, of everyone that signed in on the threads to do the half/full. I ended up with 123 people on the WISH team, though we seem to have lost some along the way. The list got posted periodically so we could see ourselves!

So...a new page on the spreadsheet to keep the 2007 list of teammates. That's the who. The what used to be either the half or the full, but now we have the Minnie, the DL half, and any other races people are running in between :cool2: .

Sunny...welcome back! Looking forward to reading your full trip report!

Christy...glad to see you're registered! Will Cheryl be coming along with you again?

I'm officially shopping for shoes again. I love my purple ASICS but from about 8 miles on, I started getting a burning sensation in the balls of my feet. After my 10 and 12 mile training runs, my feet were actually swollen, though that didn't seem to be a problem after the half. They only have about 95 miles on them, so I'm wondering if I need more cushioning. I talked to the ASICS guy at the Expo and he suggested I might just be adjusting to the longer distances since I'd never done this before. I'm thinking I'll try out some different shoes for the Sarasota half and maybe the Minnie, so I'll know before I train for the next WDW half. I'd like to train to R/W the next one, instead of W/R.

Congrats to everyone!
Sunny
Sunny - So glad to hear from you. It was cool to see you b/4 the race!

Cam - Praying for you and hubby!

Just finished swimming. I do not recommend sneezing under water. :crazy2: I HAVE A COLD! AHHHHHH! :scared1: I have tried to deny it, but I need to face the facts. This is my post WDW race cold. I always get it.
Got my race pictures from WDW and they are not pretty!

Sunny - Those Pictures Rock!!! Good for you!! How did you get those onto here? I can't wait for the 1/2 pictures to come up somewhere! I want that dang Mickey Medal, ugh.

Cam - Tons of :wizard: to you & Howard!

Jodi

Jodi - I say totally go for it!!! I had only done 2 1/2's before this past weekend. I ran both races really slowly, but I never even hit the proverbal wall!!! I didn't think the difference was like night and day at all. I've run shorter runs that seemed much harder than the full!!!!! I did the 3day/week program that was in runner world mag. It was only 16 weeks and was not overly time consuming! Go ahead!!!!! Sign up!!!!

Mel - I don't know if I'm in or not. I'm thinking about the full only next year! I'll keep you posted!

Sunny-Awesome pics!! I didn't look very tough in mine (as usual) In my goofy pics, I was holding the medals like a girl! I'm never going to look like a real adventure racer if I don't get a little meaner!

Christa - POST THEM!!! I'm sure they are great! During nap time, I'm going to aviod some responsiblilty and put our pics on image station. I'll send you the link for hte album.

CARRIE - HAVE YOU CHECKED IN?????

Those pictures are AWESOME!! Thanks so much for sharing!! Love the shirt!! Question...on the registration for the Minnie it says no headphones..they aren't serious, are they??? :confused3

Welcome home everyone! Sunny great pictures! I can't wait to read your race report.

MelR, glad to hear your run went well. You and Sara looked great Sunday morning, I knew you wouldn't have any trouble with the full.

Colleen

MelR-- shirk those responsibilities-- we want to see the pics!!!!!! I can't wait to get home tonight and get mine uploaded. I don't have any from the race as I had to ditch the disposable camera around mile 6 (details to come). But I have many of the overall trip and some of the WISHers I met. Can't wait to see everyone's pics!

Sunny

Sunny - I meant to tell you that I said congratulations to you as you were walking up the sidewalk Monday morning to the Boardwalk to go to the bakery. DH and I had to run some errands before we returned the rental car, which is why I had to blow off the breakfast. Anyway, I didn't realize it was you until I was almost to the car and DH says "wasn't that the chick with the guns that was at dinner on Friday?" :rotfl2: Men!! I am so sorry I didn't stop and introduce myself. Great pics and congrats on the Mickey

Those are great pics Sunny! Is that the Garmin on your wrist? I was thinking about getting one, but I was a little worried it would be cumbersome-- but it looks like it's not from your pics!

That's a riot! I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you, too! There just wasn't enough WISH chat time. Next time we'll have to plan better!!!!

DisneyGirl-- yes that's my Garmin. I wouldn't leave home without it! Its not cumbersome at all. I trained with it all along (except for TM runs of course) so I don't even notice its there. Go for it!!!! Its a great toy.

I forgot to post an important detail earlier!!!!! Shadowbox frames are 1/2 price at Hobby Lobby right now! I just figured out what to do with my race medals. I just made a shadowbox w/ the medals and race bibs! I liked the idea so much, i did one of our last adventure race too. I'm going to hang them in the workout are (for motivation!) I think I may add pics to them later!!

Pic links to come! (he's not even slowing down yet!!!!! I better be getting that nap time!!!)
