I am really scheming on how to carry edamame!!

Melissa -- Explain, please! I know this is soybeans, right? What do you do with it? Is it high calorie? Lots of protein? Is it delicious?

Ohhhh edamame...We have these honestly like every other night at dinner, and we eat them right out of the shell! The perfect protein! And....YUM! :thumbsup2

Mel - Yes I would be interested in a block of rooms. :wave2: Just let me know. We can book now. :teeth:

Judy

Cam- Yes it is just soy beans, but I was thinking I'd enjoy something with a little texture and the salt for sure!!!!! I don't know if they have alot of calories, I have just been craving the salt!!! Salt and salt, salt salt salt. Oops salty, i mean sorry about that! for some reason, i've just been craving them. Last week it was sausage egg mcmuffins!!! Actually, I'f figuring that it will take me and EC about 8 hrs. to finish the 30 miles and since it is a free race, there will probably not be any food by the time we get to the aid stations (last year we started early and still missed teh beer and chilli frito pie at the top!) This year, the meal is at the bottom and i think the aid stations are every 5 miles, but i figure by the time we are on the way back , most people will be done and the aid might be gone. I am thinking about taking my camera to get some pics, but i'm not sure yet what i will carry yet and if i'll have the space

I'm with you on the salt thing. Definitely an issue for me. My new "trigger food" is reduced fat wheat thins. Thank God I just finished the box so that they aren't screaming my name from my desk drawer anymore. :teeth:

I've had spurts of high activity and lulls of couch potatoe syndrome all my life.

I keep hoping my family will get hooked so all my running doesn't keep taking me away from them. Its a really hard balance. I find myself feeling guilty and feeling the pressure of everything just about all the time.

Sunny - boy, I can really identify with both things you said above. I have also gone through many highs and lows with activity and couch potatoness. Even when I was competing in high school, when it wasn't track or cross country season I was on the couch. This latest period of inactivity has been way too long - since the princesses came along. I also really identify with having a hard time balancing work, family, and exercise/self. That was one of the reasons I stopped exercising too because I really hated leaving my DW all alone with the kids. I still keep trying to find that right balance - it probably will always be a struggle. Hang in there though.

Judy - Congratulations on the 3 minute run! :cool1: :thumbsup2 I haven't run at all yet.

Cam Aaaaaaaaugh no, say it isn't sooo! It gets worse? Well it is some comfort though to know that my princesses are not abnormal (I guess). So where are you in Delaware Cam? My parents have retired down there about 5 years ago and are in Ocean View, DE. We've been down quite a few times since then. Love the tax free outlet shopping (oh and the beach too - speaking of sand boxes)! :woohoo:

Colleen - ha, ha, ha... I'm not registered for the marathon yet either, but here I am wondering about room rates, what to do with the family, etc. Like you said, there's 11 months to figure out those details.

Sara - have a great time at WDW. Give us a report when you get back.

Why did the banana stop dancing? Is it just my computer?

No stonkers here - last nights 70 minutes went okay, although the phrase negative split didn't apply - 35 minutes out and about 38 back and I did that thing where you start to walk then mentally slap yourself round the head and start running again, but I finished. Although can't work out how I can run a marathon three weeks ago and be drained at 11km now - ummm, you did see me at WDW right? I'm not going to be like Pam Ewing and it all be a dream and it's actually still September 05 (anyone else hear that shower running...............)

Having a rest day today - haven't actually had one since last Friday (and it's Thursday here), gym tomorrow, rest Saturday, then on Sunday we go to run three quarters of the course for my upcoming half backwards - ie starting at the end rather than physically going backwards which could get messy.

I should be out there for about two hours which should boost my confidence nicely - or tell me to turn up to the staggered start half an hour earlier than I planned. Whatever happens I'm doing the thing even if I walk all the hills (and there are a lot of them). So that's me for today - happy training everyone.

:offtopic: Totally Off Topic Post :offtopic:

But since I have already told all my friends...yes all of them....OK both of them...I gotta tell you guys......

I just got the call...I was APPROVED to adopt the horse I wanted! :Pinkbounc :yay: OMG! I'm sooooo happy!

If you want to see her.....Her name is Mist. Scroll down, but be forwarned....her picture is OK but some others are disturbing...

http://www.casanctuary.org/d.php?fcdokq

I have been to this place and they are AMAZING!

OK back to posting training posts.

Hey, wait a minute! Isn't horseback riding = cross training???? ::yes::

Judy

Well, I got my 7 miles in today....and under a 20 minute. mile.....not much under...but under!! I did deal with a lovely headwind for the first 3.5 miles...but it was all behind me on the way back! Glad to have that done and out of the way. And I am especially happy to report I HAVE NO BLISTERS!!!! :thumbsup2  :goodvibes Training is so much easier when you don't have a job :lmao: Besides, it was a beautiful 50 degree day out...not gonna see that too often in February in the midwest.

Training has become very interesting for me with my new diabetes diagnosis. I struggle to find if my little weird things are related to the diabetes or training or new meds or what. I will be very happy to get all of this under control. Just one more moth before the full effect of the meds kick in and we see where we are at.

Mel, thanks for the heads up on the sport beans! I  them!!! They are perfect for me as I can eat one or two and get over that shakey feeling I seem to get every so often....I suppose I need to get in the habit of taking my glucometer with me....that might help too.

Helen, if I suddenly begin to grow in heigth...it is the magic beans! I will be sure to keep a close eye on my height! Now if I start to grow in inches around my waist...can we still blame the beans? I better not be growing.....if I eat any more chicken and brocolli...I may become fowl!

Sunny, you never cease to amaze me with all your energy and zeal for whatever you are doing! Thanks for the inspiration!

Judy, fuuny what you find when you start to execise isn't it? I have 2 thoughts for the Columbus half....one being to rent my bottom out as billboard space. To give myself a few extra minutes, I figure if I start toward the begining of the race.....everybody will have the opportunity to see my big butt and the message plastered on it...or to have a nice big sign on my butt that says "If you can read this...I am still waddling! :lmao:

I know I am missing LOTS of people here, but food and a shower all calling my name. Now that i have a little more time in my life, I shouldn't be so scarce! Of course I do have to find some time to find a job...so I best get busy!!!

Doh - I knew I meant to post something that wasn't all about me, me, me!!!
HAve you seen the Goofy results pages online yet - a couple of guys have tabulated the results so all our superfit Wishers can check where they ranked. Go to www.robbyb.com/goofy - or there's another one at www.home.comcast.net/~reel_trouble/goofy.html.

Ooh, the fastest woman was a Brit!!!!

Judy-- Thanks :cloud9: But I was running at 220+ (I'm 5'7") and let me tell ya, there was a whole lotta shaken' goin' on! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:    Great news on your horse. Don't feel like its off topic. Do you recall how I explained MY MARATHON can be inserted into any conversation? Well, the converse is true, too! Anything goes here (well, you know what I mean)

MelR-- Oh please tell me you didn't hurt your (ahem)'s!!!!! Here's :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for strength and a pain free race!

Dave-- sorry to tell you, but Cam made it sound like a walk in the park :rotfl2:  DD16 has expanded my sense of emotions to levels I didn't know existed!!!!! But you gotta love 'em

As for parenting/training, etc. I think MelR is a great role model. She is constantly getting the boy involved in fun ways. I am trying to learn and do more of it myself. My boy already tends to be chubby and eats like me  so he needs to learn at a really early age that the body was meant to MOVE! DD on the other hand is naturally thin and doesn't like to sweat

Helen, great link! I was hoping someone would do that. Your post made me think of us like the sea gulls in Finding Nemo, except instead of "Mine, mine, mine" its "me, me me" :lmao: :lmao: :teeth:

TG for all of you, that's all I have to say :goodvibes

Sunny

Helen - thank you so much for posting that!!! not that it really mattered where i ranked, but i wanted to see the goofy's total times just to get an idea of how long it took everyone. i was kind of peeved that disney didn't post results by goofy so i'm glad someone took the itme to do it!

Liz-- great job on the 7 miles. I bet your training will be a great help with the diabetes. Do you keep a food log? You might want to do that and log your energy levels, training, etc. to help keep track of how your body is responding to the meds and training, etc.

If I don't get my butt off of here I'll be experiencing the ease of training without a job, too :scared1: How can I be so disciplined in some areas and so lax in others :confused3 My problem is I need to do things I don't know how to do, so my solution is to ignore them and hope they go away. If memory serves me right, that never seemed to work before... But I can keep trying :teeth:

OK, kick me out NOW!

Judy -- Congratulations on becoming a Mommy! I am so excited for you! Sending  and :wizard: for Mist. She is beautiful!

Dave -- We are in north Wilmington, just 20 minutes south of the PHL airport (YEAH!), but sadly 2 hours north of the Delaware beaches.

Speaking of which (warning OT) --
Everyone please pray for warm weather this weekend here in the NE. Howard and the kids and I are doing the Polar Bear Plunge for Delaware Special Olympics on Sunday at Rehobeth Beach, DE. Yes, it takes real love and passion for the organization to plunge into the Atlantic Ocean in February. :cold: Howard has done it 7 years, Jenn twice, Andrew once and I did it 3 years before my cardiologist forbade it. After the surgery last January, it was too soon to take a chance of triggering vtach again so I couldn't do it then, but I am really excited about our family doing it together for the first time. Our biggest dilemmas will be
(1) who will take the "proof" picture afterwards :confused3 ;
(2) who will hold the towels to throw at us as we stumble our way back to our blanket on frozen legs :cool1: ; and
(3) how in the world am I going to work up the nerve to put on a bathing suit? :scared1:

Well if you're renting out the space then you can put my "Big Butt Beacon of Hope" there! Remember, there are others just like you and me who are amazed when they see us out there and it gives them hope that they could do it, too! That butt space is worth big bucks to a wise advertiser ;)

YES, what she said, Liz!!! I am SO IMPRESSED that you did 7 miles today! You are rockin', girl! :cool1:  :cheer2: :woohoo:

Mel - Seeing as we'll have 17 points (more than I though), I'd be nterested in room rates. I really wanted to add on at BWV, but it doesn't look like I'll even be able to rent. :(

Cam - Yes, dh is a sweetie. I felt like a heel tha the asked and I hadn't.

Sunny - Throw a pink towel over your head. If you can see yourt problem it can't see you , right? ;) (Hopefully, your familiar with Hitchikers or else I just made a really stupid comment. ;) )

Judy - Congrats on the horse.

Liz - Woo hoo on the 7-miler! I'd advertise on your butt! (Well, you know what I mean. ;) )

BTW - I had a dentist appt yesterday aand they fdon't know aI ran a marathon. I must be slacking. However, I'm doing a scrapping circle journal and the topic is Fav WDW atrratction. Everyone else did rides and shows. The marathon's an attraction, right? :D

Well, we're not going to do the Crim. Why get too close to the ILs if we don't have to? Really we'll be traveling the next 4 weekends, so it's a little much.

Salty? Nope chocolate's still my key food. Think I can get the health dept to condemn teh COldstone. I really should never have tried it! Actually, except for that weekly splurge that will turn into a monthly splurge this month, I've been very good. I should be down at least 10 pounds by next year. Not much, but at least I might be close to where I was before I started training. How sad. :sad2:

Greetings All: OK, I took the advice of people on the board and upped my distance a little - 2.5 miles at 14 min/mile pace.

Dave - WTG! :cool1: That is awesome! You have plenty of time b/4 WDW marathon so you are doing great!

OK Sunny - I saw no big butt on you! But, :lmao: Jaylo (I dont know how she spells her name) has nothing on me! I so have the biggest butt! And I wear the tight running pants! :rotfl2: Ohhh...nasty! I have never thought about renting the space. I could make millions!

Judy - Congrats! I looked at the picture and it made me so happy that you will have that beautiful animal. I was also saddened at the other pics b/c I cannot believe someone would treat another living animal like that! :furious:
Also, Judy! I have to confess that I have back fat! I told my DH that as much as I exercise, I should have a very nice body! He said that I did but...Does he love me b/c I'm beautiful, or am I beautiful b/c he loves me? :rotfl2: (anyone know what movie that is from?)
Liz-- great job on the 7 miles. I bet your training will be a great help with the diabetes.
Liz I second this. My friend Ross, who paced me in the Charlotte Marathon has diabetes. He sometimes has to stop at a fast food place and get food...now he is my kind of runner!

Helen - Thanks for that web page! It was neat to see where we came in compared to everyone else!

Ran 5 miles today! Did not bike, My butt bones hurt!
DH has started running again! Yesterday was the 1st time. Well he ran Goofy! But he did 2.5 miles and he was tired after it! I think it is funny that we were running double LRs up to 12& 24 miles, now 10 is hard! :lmao:

Good Morning Everyone,

I didn't get a chance to post last night - but I had another really good workout :thumbsup2 . I did 4 miles on the threadmill going from 3.5 - 5.5 spending approx. 4 minutes on each speed, also did some weight training for the lower body, 20 minutes on the elliptical, and did three sets of sit ups on the stability ball.

Well, I'm off to work - Have a great day everyone!

Jodi
