Wk of Feb 11--WISH Walking/Running Club

OK, I was doing so well keeping up this week adn you guys inundated me last night! After a rather traumatic blood donation last night (why can nothing in my world go smoothly>???0, I'm way too sleepy to remember all the posts. :(

Angie & Leana - While my degree is straight environmental engineering, mydept had only recently broken off from civil. I did pass the civil PE, though. :confused3 Good luck finisheigh your degree Anige! You are sooo close!!! (I cannot imagine being in school now. Your dedication amazes me!)

Cecelia - I'll trade paces with you too!

Happy Valentines Day!!!

Sending extra  for those of you without Valentines! I was recently reminded how much I disliked V-day before I met Scott! :flower3: :grouphug:

Happy Valentines Day Everyone!
Can you believe my dh made me cancel my Wednesday night run? Oh well, it turns out almost everyone else had to cancel too. Now I have to squeeze a run in after the class party's at the school and before the bus brings them home (hyped up on tons of sugar - yeah!)

Cecilia- I may be slightly younger, but you're faster than I am. Wanna trade?
You will soon be faster than me AND still be younger.

Just a quick drive-by to update on my training--I did 3 miles today in 28:56 with an average pace of 9:34. I felt a bit sluggish today, and didn't really feel like running, but I made myself go.
Wow you are fast - thats sluggish?! I did 3 miles in about the same time and was proud of myself.

Cecilia -- I bet you're one of those Christy Brinkley kinds of women, looking and feeling fantastic at any age, making others say they only hope to be like you one day!
Maria! You have made my day! my week! my year!
Just this morning at the bus stop the other moms were looking at my hair and commenting that they had no idea I was almost completely gray. I usually get my hair "done" every 4 weeks but missed it cause of sick kids so the gray is really showing. I do feel fantastic but I doubt I have ever looked fantastic.

Anyone stayed at Coronado Springs before? Thinking about that one for the marathon...

Think Purple. TNT books almost the entire Coronado for Marathon weekend. It was great except that our rooms were .8 miles from the restaurants (Gotta love a garmin). After the marathon, we literally took a bus to the front of the hotel to eat dinner. Also, because there were so many marathoners at our hotel, we had extra bus service so you rarely had to wait for more than a couple minutes to get to anything dealing with the marathon.

That said, I will proabably stay there again - trying to decide....

Kristi- That is so cool you were a CM at DL. I'd love to hear more about what you did there.
Oh, I was not a CM at DL! I was a CM at The Disney Store for 11 years - back when they really were Disney (not owned by Children's Place  )! It was my way of supporting my Disney habit here at home. :rotfl: When Zack turned one, and we knew Children's Place was buying us, I had enough! No Disney discounts? No Kristi! :rotfl:
Boy, do I miss the 50% off rooms, 20% off sit down restaurants, 35% off merchandise and free admission though! :-( I made out like a bandit for years!

Happy Valentines Day everyone!

Holy COW!!! 50% off rooms, 20% off sit down meals, and FREE Admission!!!! Man, that would be SWEET!

I have to pass this along - I love these running skirts - especially the gym girl because it helps prevent chaffing! Tomorrow only (for Valentine's day), their pink skirts are 50% off. They are a bit pricey, so the 50% off is great.

I'm so buying the pink camo skirt tomorrow...

OMG! The LE zebra skirts with the pink trim are on sale!!!!!

Happy Valentines Day Team!!!!

Sorry just another quick post, horrible weather today, I should have stayed home the roads where terrible, but now since I am at work, I am swamped. I hope to check back later.

Everyone stay warm and safe today.

Angie - OMG that is soooooooo tough. My DS has always been okay with it other than the "do you still have homework" and the "I can't wait until you have time for me again" comments that hurts. Sending bucket loads of :wizard: and  . You are sooooo close now you CAN DO THIS!!!!! :cheer2:

And to answer your question yep I'm still in school at age 32  I've always worked full-time as an Accountant and was recently pushed by someone I consider a mentor to finish my education so that I would qualify for the CPA or CMA exam. The sucker for punishment that I am I decided on an MBA program (full-time online program). Commenement is in May (weekend after the Minnie) though I will not actually finish with my thesis paper until August.

On the job side I was recently offered a position as a Financial Analyst so I am switching gears a bit but looking forward to the challenge. I will start in 2 weeks (right during finals) :scared1:

Jen—Yeah! If I were audited I’d have to rip the house apart to find my paperwork. I’m glad that stress is over for you.:woohoo:

Speedy—No sympathy here, either! And you must stick to zebra tights… skirts is just pushing it too far; even with the man-brows.:scared1:

Laurie—you are doing great! Awesome pace:cheer2:

Sunny - again thanks for the encouragement. I have a funny story too, one day my 6 year old pointed to a cement mixer and told DH that when mommy is done school she is going to drive one of those (I guess he thought that since I am going to 'build things' that's how you do it)

That’s so cute. :cloud9: You should write that on a 3x5 and keep it near you while you study for motivation! Will you be driving a train, too? :)

TiffJ—great job on the training. Lime green iPod? Hmmm, that might have to be standard issue WISH gear soon!

Minnie & Angie—we will have on heck of an online bash in May! Keep up the hard work, you are soooooooo close.

Carrie-- you are really getting hit lately. Sending mucho :wizard: to turn that bad streak around.

Kristi-- Now I see why people are so eager to be CMs. Those discounts are amazing. We lived in Calif. about 1-2 miles from DL when I was in 10th grade. My mom worked at a hospital that gave out free tickets to DL as a perk. Oh those were the days...

Dave-- thanks for asking. I'm definitely seeing improvements in pain, except for one spot that actually seems worse. I'm back up to "moderate" sudoko puzzles, but my speach is really affected and it's starting to bother me. I see the dr again in 3 weeks. I can also email her if I feel the need to get advice sooner. At this point, I think it's still too soon to tell. Mostly I'm optimistic it's going to work for me.

Well we finally have snow, or rather sludge. It can’t decide whether it wants to snow or rain so we’re getting spurts of snow, spurts of rain and spurts of “ice pellets”. DS helped me do some shoveling then I took him sledding for about 15 minutes until the ice pellets started again. I’ll be out several more times today (back permitting) so hopefully I can consider it xt for the day.

Kevin – This year should be my 10-year HS reunion, too, but I’ve always maintained that our class wouldn’t be smart enough to organize one. Haven’t heard a word yet, so it may be that my assumption was correct!

Jen – Congrats on the audit! :cool1: Glad to hear it went well.

Cam – how did the balance ball go? I used to have one, until my cat jumped on it and popped it. I loved it even though it was tough – I could always tell that it was working!

Laurie – WTG for getting out there even though you didn’t feel like it!

Angie – Wow, civil engineering? That rocks! Too cute about your 6-year-old. Sorry to hear you had a rough run – best wishes for your race! I’m sure you’ll do great! Can’t wait to hear about it next week.

Bill – Hope your calf feels better soon! Good luck trying to rest up AND decorate the house at the same time.

Tiff – I didn’t even know they made a lime green shuffle. How cool is that? Congrats on staying up on your training!

Carrie – A traumatic blood donating incident? That doesn’t sound good at all! Hope you’re feeling better soon!

Minnie – Are you sitting for the CPA? Good luck with finishing up your MBA! I keep saying I’m going to go back and do that, but I’m not motivated enough to actually do it, so I’m always SUPER impressed by folks who are! :worship:

That's so funny. I was one of the people who is supposed to coordinate those things (I was class secretary or something like that senior year). We had a 5 year and nothing since. My HS doesn't even know I'm back in Mass. (and it's going to stay that way).

oh must attend to DS... I keep saying "one more minute..."

Abra Cat[/B] - Good luck with the new business. At least you'll be able to ask the boss for time off to keep up with the thread, I mean training!

Well, I still need to pay attention to my "big bosses" (my kids). :lmao:

Abra Cat-- what sort of business are you doing? I did a home business when DD was little. It's a lot of work and you'll be the worst boss you've ever had, but it's also sooooooo nice to work in your jammies Good luck!

plutosmyfav, I'm going to be making marshmallows-- vanilla, chocolate chip, butterscotch, mocha, etc. I've never done anything like this before, so it's all crazy and new to me. Unfortunately, I won't be able to work in my jammies, since I'll be cooking in an industrial kitchen, but jeans and t-shirts are next best, anyway. Thanks for the support and good wishes!

I had such a good run yesterday! I went on the TM at the Y for 30 minutes and did 2.05 miles, however many minutes per mile that works out to. I played around between 3/1 intervals and 2/1, and actually wound up running more than usual, since I'm usually wiped by 20 minutes. So, I guess my endurance is improving. My knees felt great, except for right after I got off the TM, my right knee started getting all clickity and achy. I think maybe I didn't walk enough right before getting off-- I only walked for a minute at the end. It's fine now though, and this morning I did 25 minutes on the exercise bike, which always makes my knees feel better. Now if only I could wean myself of high heels! But they're so pretty! :cutie:

I must admit that I am not a big marshmallow fan, unless they're in a s'more. ;) Those sound VERY yummy, though! WHen can we start putting our orders in?

Heh-- I'll let you know. Speaking of s'mores... I do a marshmallow with chocolate chunks and graham cracker pieces inside-- they're quite yummy, if I do say so myself!

Got in my 4 miler today--around 37:ish with varied incline from 0-4.5%. Xtraining tomorrow!

cdngaleeyore--Shame on you for posting the link for the running skirts!;) How I can be tempted by a little running gear, especially pink:cutie: But since I've already purchased some new tights this week, and I'm needing some new socks--I had to pass--but oh, how I want the camo and zebra stripe ones!!!! Hmm, I'm now recalling a passage from MfM about one sign of taper madness being an unhealthy need to purchase more running gear!!! AAHHH!!!!!!:rotfl2:

abracat--YUMMMMM! Reading about the marshmallows is making me want a big cup of hot cocoa with lots of marshmallows in it!! Good luck with your business!

angie--that's too cute of your DS--my dad has a PhD and I would always ask him when I was little why everyone called him "Dr." b/c he didn't work in the hospital. Luckily DD refers to the guys who drive the trains as conductors b/c if we used the word engineer, she would want to know where daddy's train was!

Well, off to finish the laundry!:laundy: Hope all ya'll midwesterners/north easterners are staying safe and warm!

Forgive me for saying this, but I had a coupon fo 20% off clearance items at my local store. They had teh solid (cheaper) Triks on clearance. $50 on clearance was still $40 with x-tra coupon. If you want to try one, do it now. You will not find a better price.

Hi WISH Team!

I will not comment on the HS reuinion/age thing. I will not. ;)

I'm glad to see those of you studying to fininsh those degrees. That is the best thing you can do for yourself (well besides in addition to walking/running). Keep on keepin' on.

I'm snowed in but somehow got out of my drive long-ish story with that. I'm at work and just found out that I get to leave a half hour early! I'm telling ya that is the truth!

No mileage yesterday, I shoveled some snow last eve and this a.m. I limited my shoveling to just a bit. I think that the epidural is a miracle fix for me and I hope the effects last very long.

Stay safe everyone.

Oh, I checked the skirt site earlier and they seem to be out of all but the XS size I was looking at.
