Wk of Feb 11--WISH Walking/Running Club

Christy - :wizard: Hope your foot's better soon! Do your regular shoes fit ok? I know that I have had to seriously upgrade teh shoes I wear since I've been running.

I am hoping that will help, I will probably go tomorrow morning while both of my boys are at preschool and get fitted (since I have moved from almost totally a walker to a lot more running) and get a new pair of shoes. I will report back!

Someone tell me to just suck it up and ask. Having a definite answer is better than being in limbo, right?

Phew, sorry that got so long!

ASK!!! You want to get to ask before anyone else in your office does (assuming you work in an office)!!! GO ASK, NOW!!!! You will want to start making plans ASAP and you can not do that until you know if you can really come

Did you ask yet???????:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

TXAng - Suck it up! ;) Seriously, the worrying about it is worse than the asking. Plus, you'll be even more dissapointed the further you get in training. No chance fro cheap plane tix?

Yikes Sunny that looks like my house....I don't think it will ever start snowing.

Well it is official, Dh and I are doing a 10K April 1, 2007....Wahoo. I figure it will give me confidence for the 15K in May at the Minnie.

Yipeeee so excited.

Kim

Yikes I mean STOP snowing. I think I have too many things on the go this morning....

Ok back to work...lol

TXAng - Suck it up & ask! Almost every year we do the trip that you want to do - get there Thurs or Fri before, then stay until around the Friday afterwards. DO IT! And I work at a Boston tv station on the morning news. I am supposed to be there at 3:30am - but that never happens! :rolleyes1

Did you ask your boss yet???? ;)

Hi!

Just a quick check-in to say I did my run for today. This is the first day this week exercise has not felt really hard, so maybe my fitness level is improving (crosses fingers).

This thread moves so fast...I'm sorry I lose track. Once I get exercise and eating down, I will work on being a better poster!

Craig-- I don't have any words of wisdom for you. I really do believe that things happen for a reason. Your daughter will find a good place for her, and she will be happy. It sounds like she has a wonderful foundation, and fantastic support. You have set her up for a great life, and it will happen for her.

TXAng-- What is the worst than can happen? Imagine it, how you will deal with it, then ask your question. You will be prepared for the worst, but you should expect the best!

Sunny-- I'll trade you my ice for your snow! On second thought, maybe not. My ice will melt, but your snow will melt and refreeze as...ice! You are absolutely right about housing costs in the Boston Metro area. It's pretty bad when rent for an average SRO (that's a room, with communal access to kitchen and bath) is $845/month. No wonder people are aggressive here. I think we're all a bit bitter. But I am not a native. We moved here about 10 years ago from the Midwest. Our rent doubled, and our square feet was halved. Thank goodness we bought our house before it got super-scary :scared1: Perhaps a native would have a different view.

Christy-- I hope your foot pain will magically vanish!

Jen-- I hope you can rest, relax and recover!

Kathy-- I knew that snow was burying you! Seriously, I hope your shoulder feels better every day.

Kristy-- So your the reason when I stumble to the t.v. from my bed in the morning I can find out what's going on. Thank you!

Carrie-- You go, girl! I had forgotten about women in the kitchen. That's what I call it. When I was a girl and we would go to my grandparents home (I'm originally a Midwesterner), after the meal the women went to the kitchen to clean up, and the men went out to relax. Yeah. Break those stereotypes every chance you get!

Kim-- I hope you get to do the 10K!

Bill-- That post was just cruel, I tell you! That's o.k., when you're sweltering this summer, we'll be enjoying delightful breezes and comfortable runs. There are just tradeoffs no matter where you live...

Cecilia-- I hope you're having a great day!

My computer time is at an end. DS9 has to finish a biography report, and I am the lucky parent who gets to help him make paragraphs and ensure "flow".

I hope the flow is with everyone as the walk and run!
Maria

Darn. I guess that's what I get for not coming to work yesterday. I missed the skirt sale.

I've been staying on track with MfM Half training for the Minnie. I just have missed so many days of posting that I can't remember it all right now. :confused3

Dave - Thank you for your concern. Even though I didn't get to meet you, I'm pretty sure you're quite a gentleman. :goodvibes Anyway, I am in a much better mood, although still stiff and creaky. I think the only thing that will help is spring! I would LOVE to go to Lake Placid. I've never been there and I am dying to ride the luge they have there left over from the Olympics. Plus, it just looks so pretty there...Maybe there is an even there we could WISH Meet at. I'll have a look.

Kevin - OMG! :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: I was eating lunch as I read your post about the zebra skirts and I almost choked on my grilled cheese! OMG you are too too funny! :rotfl:

Sunny - Thinking of you, and sending you :wizard: OK, seriously, I am NOT bragging here but $750,000 won't get you much around where we live. Honest to God I am not saying this to be a show off. It's a FACT. And that isn't the worst part...let's not even talk about taxes. If you ever have a chance to look at www.realtor,com and search on houses in Bedford or Pound Ridge or North Salem, New York.... It's not even like real life. It's ridiculous! I can't wait to move out of this area. As beautiful as it is, it's so incredibly overpriced, it's insane!

Kristi - Oh my! I'm glad you got home OK. I didn't even consider attempting to drive in to work. Besides, I'm a manager, it's not like I do any "real" work. We have four "reasons" why we can't move to Florida yet. As soon as the last "reason" goes off to college, we're there!

Jackie - Glad your head was feeling better this morning. Did I help at all? :upsidedow

Vic - Is Niceville a real town? :confused3

Angie - Whooo hooo! :woohoo: You go girl!

Bill - You're a stinker! How about sending some of that nice warm weather up here? ;)

Craig - Oh Craig.....

No matter HOW good the shrimp scampi sounds, don't order it for lunch when you're planning on working out that evening. Oh, the shrimp was delightful, but once I started to really get moving, I was wishing I'd made a less buttery-garlicy choice. Who knew?

TxAng - Actually, didn't someone around here know that? I think last year someone ate something like that the night before the race....

Mike - A belated Happy Birthday! :cake: Enjoy the second Garmin!

Jen - Ohh hope you are feeling a little better now.

Hey Cam, come out of hiding now, will ya please???? :upsidedow

I can't believe it's taken me all day to post this! Geez.

Thansk Maria... I did it, DH and I are signed up.

Once you sign up for the 1/2 or the full do you get emails from Disney at all??? Just curious if by not being registered yet I am missing out on some info they might be sending....I hope that question makes sense...It has been a long day..;)

Thanks

Kim

Judy good to see you! :goodvibes

Kim - Ther will be e-mails from Disney to those who have signed up, but I think it will be at elast a couple months before we see them.

MAria - Once you get teh exercise and eating thing down, will you share withthe rest of us? ;) BTW, your posts are great!

Craig - No one tells us how much it will hurt to watch our children jurt/struggle. It sound like you two did a great job raising her and that she is one smart cookie! I am sure she will be fine and she will find the right place for her.

Jim - what a pretty little girl you have.

Angie - way to go! I just graduated nursing school a few years ago. I was 32 when I graduated. We became the proud adoptive parents to ds4 just before I started back, and ds2 just before I started my last year of school. We also have dd16. You can do it! You are amazing! And yes, I look back and it is just one big blur!

It has been very difficult to keep up with all of you talkers! It has been a busy week for me. Walking has taken the back seat. Monday I had to drive dd to a few md appts (she is fine) and then head off to work. Tueday there was no babysitting available for the little ones, and that night I took my mom to see Wicked (yes we drove into the city with all that snow - I took dh's new truck). Blew off yesterday's yoga class since I hadn't been home for dinner since Sunday.

Tonight I will do a quick walk (30min) before I meet my dh for date night. No excuses. And then I will consider myself back on track.

Sorry to not catch up with everyone. I just kind of skimmed through. Happy running/walking to all.

Maggie

Twelve more hours till my foot tape comes off - 24 hours till I can cycle. I never thought I'd be mentally singing songs about getting on an exercise bike, but I can't wait for tomorrow morning. Have now worked out this is the longest I've been without running for 15 years - there's some interesting side effects, my shoulders seem to be growing upwards towards my ears and all my clothes are shrinking! Still nearly over - and if not I think I'm just going to tell the physio that enough is enough, everyone else I know ran with PF and so will I - then go buy a nice ice cube tray to celebrate!!

So Craig: you made me cry calling me a serious runner. I don't feel like any kind of runner at the moment and so I got all weepy (in a nice way). Hope your daughter is okay too.

Sunny: hmm, are you trying to tell me I'm self obsessed? Moi, never - now what else have I done this week!

Dave: I've stayed at about 5 of the hotels around DL - my favourite used to be the Coast (now the new Sheraton) but the Candy Cane has taken over. We had a superior room and they actually bring you breakfast in bed every morning. I'd definitely go back there again.

Carrie: The TM video you're talking about is by a group of guys called ok go - it's sooooooo clever. It's here......
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NINJQ5LRh-0
There is actually one bit where one guy does slip so you are not alone......
Anyway off to work now: Helen

See, that's just the kick in the rear I needed!

Of course, I finally get ready to ask, and the boss is unavailable. Go figure.

I did draft up a beautiful email, though, and it only took me 10 minutes to click the send button. So I've officially asked, now I just have to be patient and wait for a response!

Good for you!! I can not wait until you hear back!!!!!

I'm waiting for the bloopers video to be released. I bet they suffered some serious injuries in the making of that video! I'd also like to know the thought process that lead them to that idea! The human mind just never runs out of new ideas.

Judy-- I did look up home prices! The difference, though is your outrageous homes come with land. I found a $2.3M home in Lexington on a .36 acre lot. Where's the value in that?:confused3

TXAng-- isn't email just the best invention ever? Hope you get your reply soon.:wizard:

Maria-- good for you getting your run in.

My Week 4 is all messed up now. I took Tuesday as a rest day due to ridiculous cold temps. Yesterday ended up being a xt, which I can truly justify from shoveling. Today I missed my gym window and won't get a chance to go to the Y tonight. Tomorrow looks spotty.... UGH.

Sunny

Hi!
Kristy-- So your the reason when I stumble to the t.v. from my bed in the morning I can find out what's going on. Thank you!
Don't thank me yet! I really have nothing to do with the content of the news and wouldn't want to since we are becoming more & more tabloid day by day! Gotta love "the news station." Not!

It is my fault, however, if anything is misspelled on the air.
Carrie would not be able to do my job! :rotfl:

Judy - Unfortunately I am not one of the many that can stay home in bad weather. There is always news, so I can't be sick (without like a day's notice) or break down, or anything. I have even left the ER just getting off an IV for a migraine and rushed straight into work since I could not get a hold of anyone at 2am.

I am off to the roller derby, er, I mean track! ;)

Carrie would not be able to do my job! :rotfl:
Hey! I can spell. I just can't type. ;) My mom had a friend who's ds was knocked out of the running for valedictorian, because he got a C in typing. SO, db and I were not allowed to take it. Yes, we were geeks, but it really did not matter if we had typing or not.

This is the most amazing group of people on the planet!! Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart, for all your words of encouragement and support. Calcio (aka my DH) never told me how great you all were until I met some of you last month. I got all teary-eyed when I read his post too. It doesn't help that my job sucks. I'm doing grunt work that a trained monkey could do. Yeah, I'm soooooooooo happy! So I, too, am looking for a job. 2 people in the house looking and getting no where. Sigh...:sad2:

Who was bragging about warm weather and balmy days? Hmmmmm, when your temps go over 100 degrees or a hurricane comes through, I'll remind you of that post! ;)

I did some speed work today in my workout. We have an indoor track on campus and I ran 2 slow laps/1 fast lap. It felt good and my hip seems to have held up well. I'm gearing up for 45 minutes this weekend. I'll have to use the TM as everything is ice and we're expecting more snow on Sunday. Sigh, I so don't like the TM. Oh well, better than nothing!! Wish me luck!

Hey there WISH team members!! I hope everyone in the Northeast is recovering from the storm! Unfortunately, it was more ice than snow, which was not fun, but we made it through.

I decided not to workout today, because I am not feeling that well again. Last week, I was sick, and I was feeling better, but the alst two days, I have been feeling a little under the weather again, so I am going to rest today! And, plus Daytona 500 coverage is on today, so I can watch all of that! I hope to get a workout in tomorrow.

Angie--WTG!! AWESOME WORKOUT!! You are flying with that pace. You are going to do awesome in your race this weekend!! I think it is awesome that your DH is running with you and on your anniversary that is GREAT!!!
Meghan--Nice job in getting out to the gym despite all of the snow. I had planned on going, but the ice storm kind of forced me to stay home.
Craig--Sorry to hear about the situation with your daughter. It is very unfortunate that she is having difficulty with the job search. I don't have any children yet myself, but these are types of things that I can imagine are very difficult. Please hang in there, things will work out for your DD in the end!
Lynnda--Yikes, that is going to be a big baby!! Glad to hear that all is well, and before you know it the baby will be here!
Mike--Happy Birthday! Hope you had a great day! Wow, a garmin and ipod-you are a lucky guy!!
Dave--Great job on your workout-you had a great pace! Take care of that shin, and don't push it too hard if it is bothering you. Also, if anybody ever does a NY WISH meet, count me in, I am in Northern NJ, so I could make it to a race in NY easily!
Kim--Hope you have a great workout today!
Jen--Hope you are feeling better really soon! :wizard:
Christy--Hope your foot is feeling better really soon! :wizard:
TxAng--Way to go on asking--I can't wait to hear the answer!!
Judy--You are not joking about house prices in Westchester county. I moved back to NJ, because living up there was SOOOOOOOO...expensive, and i knew I would never be able to afford a house, let alone an apartment. A one bedroom apt. for over $1200..just couldn't do it anymore!! Not that NJ is that much cheaper, but it is somewhat!

Sorry if I missed anybody else....keep up the good work with your training!!
