Wk of Aug 17 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Tracy, thank you that is exactly what I need to hear:hug: I love all my teammates, they are always there with a hug when needed and a kick in the butt when needed. I will be accountable and I will do this, that is kinda why I thought if I put it out there, then I have to follow through!!!

Congrats on your training and 9 pounds that is awesome!!!!!:flower3:

Kim - Our full plan starts next week and I don't think you can get much eaier than MfM. Are you ready for a 5-miler on the 30th? Let's get in gear! ;)

Becky - lol! Ummmm.....I've been doing tri's since my one adn only in July. :rotfl: Trying ot get in one more this year.

Julie - DOn't compare yourself to anyone around here. Stephanie flies compared to me too. Just do your pace adn be happy when you see improvement. There are poeple here faster than you adn people here slower, but what matters is how you feel about your pace. :goodvibes

I did 6 on Saturday. it was hot adn nasty. I am so out of it for heat this year. Ugh. Must get hydrating.

Hi, everyone! WTO and LTO and I've been out of the loop barely posting on the DIS except in our vow renewal planning journal. Sorry about that!
I've just read the entire thread from last week and don't remember everything I wanted to write, but really wanted to WISH everyone a great day. To our DL participants -- I am so jealous and will be thinking of you next week. I hope everyone is enjoying the taper and that you all have a fabulous, safe and fulfilling race! :grouphug: :goodvibes pixiedust:

Krista and Stephen -- Carter is absolutely gorgeous! Krista, I'm sure your WISH hat was better than caffeine for the little guy! ;) Stephen, so glad your sprain is healed. I think you should tell everyone that Hines tripped you. It sounds better! :)

Leanna -- Congrats on your Tri!

Susie -- Congrats on ONEderland! That is such a huge breakthrough and you should be so proud of yourself! You have always been a tremendous inspiration to me with your discipline and dedication. Here you are, proving once again that you are completely unstoppable and the consummate WISH warrior!

Jackie -- How are you feeling, sweetie? I am so sorry you are having so much pain. I hope the massages help! :goodvibes

Debra -- Sorry about the migraines. I share your pain, literally.

AFM -- Am now up to 150 crunches and 125 pushups every day; working out with the personal trainer Monday & Wednesday; short runs on Tuesday & Thursday and longer runs on Saturday. Did the 5k last Wednesday where Howard had his awesome PR, though I fared much worse. For some reason I'd had a surprising and scary nosebleed that morning and was definitely not feeling my best for an evening race. Finishing felt momentous.

The plan for this Saturday was 2 miles to Panera with Patty, breakfast (fuel) and 2 miles back to my house. Instead, somewhere around 1.3 I took a fall (marathon 2007 revisited but no Pat, Lily & Rhonda to drag me to my feet and no Pat to wash my hands with gatorade :lmao: ). Limped to Panera (which turned out to be 2.67 miles instead of 2), cleaned up, had breakfast and took a different route (again, walking) home (2.75). We burned a lot of calories but no land-speed records. The scrapes and bruises are minimal, my right knee is pretty banged up, but worst of all I clunked my forehead on the pavement, scraping it and ending up with a bit of a headache even 2 days later. This is all depth-perception related and reminds me of why I don't run new routes. UGH! Howard was away, being a counselor at a Special Olympics camp, so I couldn't even whine to him, get him to wait on me, have him do the errands and cooking, etc., so it was all for naught! ;) Planning to run again tomorrow -- at the fountain walk. Familiar territory. Should be safe.

Hello guys!

Trying to jump back in here! I've doing more biking than anything. Now that I have the new bike, I more exited to go it than to run... We did about 8 miles Friday and then another 8 on Sunday. I swam on Saturday...about 1/3 miles in 30 min then an additional 15 min cool down for a total of a 1/2 mile. I'm hoping to bike tonight (8sih miles) and then tomorrow I will try to run/walk w/ a 3/2 interval. This will be new for me, so I'll see how it goes.

Train smart everyone!

Cam..Sorry to hear about your fall! Glad you're ok!!!

Stacie

Hi all!!

Just a super-quick wave hello just to tell you I haven't fallen off the face of the earth.. just an LTO few days....

Training is going pretty well and I promise to update soon.... Looks like SE Florida is going to see a ton of rain and wind from Fay, so I just finished getting everything at work squared away and now I'm just home to do the same... I'm actually happy that my first Florida strom experience will be a "little guy"... Oddly enough we are insanely busy at the resort... they evacuated the tourists out of the Keys and apparently they all decided to come here!!

To all the other Floridians... Stay Dry!!
Kevin :earsboy:

Thanks Carrie , I can definatley do a 5M on Sat, our weather has turned really hot here as well. We are having a weird summer.

Cam: Sorry to hear about your fall. Hope all your VR plans are going well.

Stacie: WTG on all the bikeing, lots of XT is good

Kevin: stay safe down there, just realized you are now in Fort Lauderdale. I will be there next April we are cruising out of Miami but decided to stay in Fort Lauderdale instead.

Hey everyone. Hope you guys had a nice weekend. Sounds like everyone was busy running. :thumbsup2

I ran almost four miles today doing a R3/W1, average pace was around 13:00. I'm slowly getting there again! My neighbor who has started running with me a couple days a week had to stop about 3/4 into our workout. I kept going and I felt bad about it, but we managed to get her back over to her house. I just am determined to stay on my program so I continued on without her. I have to if I wanna start my half training later. I think of her as being quite fit since she is a kickboxer, so this kinda made me feel a tad better about where I'm at now. I hope she continues to run with me, time goes by faster and I seem to push myself a tad harder.

Have a great week WISHers! :yay:

Oh, and Jeff you're killing me with those beautiful photos where you live. I'm quite jealous!

Shan -- Glad you have a running partner and great job on cranking out those miles already! :cool1:

Kim -- It's nice to see you here. No better place to find motivation, as you know -- I am in need of a healthy dose, so it is fun to see old and new teammates posting here! Thanks for the good wishes for VR planning. It's been so much fun! :cloud9:

Tracy & others in the Florida area. Stay safe, and don't forget to bring your running shoes indoors. The last thing you need is your shoes disappearing in the winds. Otherwise you'll be running the half marathon barefoot, or worse, in brand spankin' new shoes.

Shoes outside, who does that?? I wouldn't dare. I would find friends in them the next day like, frogs, lizards, roaches, spiders, etc. If not in the house then in the garage. Yikes, it just makes me cringe to think about it.

Being safe here. Just hanging out getting my ipod ready for the CA trip and putting together clothes to pack. Going through my checklists to make sure I'm not forgetting anything.

Bored in the storm, Tracy:surfweb:

Tracy,

He He He, locals here in Hawaii do that.

We leave our shoes, slippahs, etc. outside the front door. You never walk inside a home with shoes on. It keeps the floors clean, and the carpet from getting soiled. The old worn out slippahs (Hawaiian meaning: slippers or flip flops) you don't go out in public wearing, those go outside the back door.

The only times I wear shoes are for running, hiking, biking, work, weddings and funerals. The rest of the time I'm either wearing slippahs, or go barefoot.

We have roaches, gecko's, and lizzards, but never found any of them inside of my shoes.

I should live in Hawaii, I hate wearing shoes.

Hope all you FL people are staying safe and dry, been watching the radar looks like alot of FL is getting alot of rain right now:eek:

I wear sneakers for walking or at Disney. I wear crocs or berkinstocks most of the other times, not much flip-flops (or slippahs :rotfl: ) not real good for me I need more arch support. Other than that it's barefoot. We have alot of tile and some wood floors so never really worry about bringing shoes inside, plus thats just the way I am used to doing it. They go in the closet.

Can you tell I'm just sitting here, bored, with shutters up and waiting for Olympic coverage to start again on NBC?

HELOOOOO TEAM!!

Sorry I was awol last week. Going well though, just back from a 4 mile pre hurricane run :lmao:

No seriously survived week 2 of marathon training last week 18.5 miles total complete with a 7 mile LR !!!

Sorry no time to catch up. Have to make dinner. Kind of funny my kids are off school tomorrow due to the hurricane and they are mad because today was their first day back :rotfl:

Check in later :thumbsup2

Honestly Angie it's just a bunch of rain for me right now. A city about 10 miles from here just had reports of hail. We are getting waves of rain and some winds, but not too bad. I've seen worse sometimes just from Thunderstorms in the afternoon. But, it's still slowly moving around.

Stay Safe.

8Pm here now how are you guys all doing in FL????

I've been watching the radar, they're getting hit with heavy rains. Possibly their internet or electricity have gone down with the winds. I'm just guessing.

Weather report from Bradenton FL - just south of Tampa

NOTHING!!! Nothing yet, as you can see Tracy said some rain down her way. Will keep you guys posted if I see anything!!
