Pat: I generally need a carrot, too, and I really admire the goals you've set for yourself. That whole race/bling/checklist is such a good strategy, especially since it gets combined with travel (with friends like Lily!). That might be what I need to do.
Lily: Just because I knew I needed to say I did something before I came here again--because of you

--I went out today. Because being held accountable does help.

You're going to have a great time at CMM, ESPECIALLY with all that hill work. Poor Kirby's going to miss all the fun.
Stan: I second Pat's call for a RR!
Carrie: I'm sorry to hear about your running burnout. I understand, I really do. But yay for tri training, right? What's your first event?
Angie: I can't remember who--PR Lisa?--has the Mizuno Waves and loves them. I'd be suspicious of someone who can't tell you why they're recommending them, though. Are you going to a running store with a return policy that allows for test runs? That would help me decide whether to invest in an expensive shoe, especially without a better sense of why the shoes are a good choice.
Jennifer: So cool that you got to meet Bill Rodgers. I'd be just like you described yourself, except less coherent. Well, since your friends are laying down times for your anticipated finish, can I play too? Can I, can I, can I? So, I'm going to go for 1:49:15, which puts you at an 8:20 pace. Your training has been going very well, you've done the distance, you're speedy on the short distances, and you've got race experience. I assume you're running alone to challenge yourself? I'd like to challenge you to break that 1:50 mark and I'm hazarding a guess you're just a bit competitive.

So I'm throwing down the gauntlet (do note I could never do that pace).
And mostly, I just believe you can do it, barring unforeseen circumstances. You're doing to rock your 1/2 half, regardless of your time!
Swmr359: Why the TM for brand-new shoes? Is that to make sure they fit well in controlled conditions? I ask seriously because I don't pay much attention to that kind of thing.
Frank: DOOD and I will pull out the July calendar soon! Yeah, I suppose if you have to lose your chance to sweep all the leagues, that's the one to go. Just teasing you a bit, though.

More seriously, I didn't know you were feeling under the weather--and right before CMM.

I'm glad you're taking care of yourself and taking it as easy as possible this week.
Maura: I'm so sorry to hear about the involuntary separations. I'm sure it's painful for everyone, even those of you who aren't leaving. Today was definitely a double-carb day. Not to mention the wine. And maybe some tri training to burn off the simmering resentment for the situation? (That's just how I would feel, so excuse me for projecting my feelings onto you.) I love the M&Ms and think you should have some chocolate PD to brighten your day. (Like Tracy said, chocolate helps, too.)
Tracy: Great job in getting in your miles on an OFF day. (I don't think you really have one of those.) I almost managed to escape the rain....
Aloha Jeff: Aw, and you're usually the picture of health.

Yes, leave work, go to bed, get some sleep. Let the princesses take care of you.
As for me: My run today, and there was one, was very short, as I was having some pain. But I'm already planning on "making up" for that, tomorrow or Thursday assuming my knee feels better. (The pain is a new one, so at least I'm making progress in gaining the spectrum of running experience...) That's because I know my trusty WISHers will continue to hound, er encourage, me to report in. Thanks! And I think that lots of RR from CMM, along with pictures, will help. Hint, hint.
And I don't know if you here on the weekly thread know this, but I've been running without a watch to try to wean myself from focusing on numbers. It's much harder than I thought it would be, and I'm not sure what that says about me.
