Wk of Apr 1--WISH Walking/Running Club

Totally OT...

My niece Molly tried out for the tv show American Inventors this morning in NYC. AND SHE MADE BOTH CUTS! She is going to be on the show with her idea for a sneaker that plays music. She is the youngest person to ever be on the show. So, tomorrow afternoon we are headed to NYC. They want as many family members as possible to be there for the show taping Friday morning. They spent alot of time today videotaping her.

Needless to say, training is going right out the window for the next few days! :rotfl:

Please keep your fingers crossed for Molly!

I am off try to to find a not-so-outrageous hotel room in NYC... :scared1:

:cool1: :cool1: FUNNY HOW IT COMES RIGHT BACK, OR DOES IT EVER LEAVE??? :cool1: :cool1:

Did 5.5 miles (instead of six)
9 min pace!!!!! -- and i did it all by myself - DH is on duty.

So now I will try to catch up:

Stephanie If you pack like I do, it's definately x-training ( my bag to VA last week almost did not pass wieght limit :rotfl: ) Good job on training - I will have to keep pushing it to keep up with you at MINNIE!!

Krista - I'm glad that you did not have pain and I think you are smart for not messing with lightning. :scared1:

Cam - I'm glad all your hard work paid off and you case turned out well. That is awesome treadmill work after a long day at work!!:woohoo:

Bill - I'm glad to hear that Lynnda is doing well. I had two C-sections and they are rough to recover from, to your whole family.

Carrie - I'm so sorry about the pain, hopefully doctor can fix you quick!!

Christa - As usual awesome job squeezing that very speedy run in.:thumbsup2

Vic - Good run and we are all over that Tower of Terror race - we run way better at night anyway. Is it bad that we are doing RFTT 3 weeks before that ??:confused3 (WE LOVE DISNEY)

Cindy - Awesome pace, and my courses are always pancakce flat!! It feels good to get back to a pace you have not been at for a while and it is definately motivating:woohoo:

Kristi - That is so exciting ! Some things are so worth missing out on training for!

Ok off to do homework. Everyone have a good night.

Ok, so now my Mom's made me sound like I just up and decided that I didn't want to run. That's not completely true. Yes, I did opt out of the half. BUT!!! It was because my life has been so hectic lately that I had no idea when I was going to train, so I decided that to preserve my sanity I would save it for another year. That and I've never been a very long distance runner. Sure, I did the 800 m in middle school, but that's just two laps around a track. The longest run I've ever done was a 4 mile jog at track practice. Other than that, I stay fit by doing soccer. So it's not like I just said "oh, I don't think running would be fun". I had my reasons. So in my defense, my fireworks were slightly legitimate. If only slightly. And we won't get into the implications that I couldn't take pictures...(love you Mom) ;)

Mel - Again, so jealous of those of you sooo close to WDW that you can make a quick trip there and back in a couple of days! Glad to hear you had a good time!
Matt - Those videos really were interesting to watch. Down the road (waaaayyyy down the road) I would like to do a sprint distance tri (IM would be so far down the road, you would need a map, GPS, and a telescope to find it), but baby steps first.
Craig - It's because of all of you running buddies that I still continue to get out there and pursue what some might believe to be impossible, but the support of the WISH team, and in turn being able to give support is a strong motivator. WISH gave me the courage to start, the motivation to continue, the strength to finish, and the inspiration to do it again.:thumbsup2
Christy - Fantastic job on the 5 miles! :cool1:
Jen - Woo Hoo! WTG on the 7 Mile TM workout!
Bill & Lynnda - Congratulations on a wonderfully beautiful baby boy! And the nursery looks awesome!
Judy - :cool1: :cool1: NO ACL damage! :cool1: :cool1:
Carrie - I hear ya about the LTO...as evidenced by my first post this week buried on page 9!
Krista - My DW went from NB's to Mizuno Wave Alchemy's and hasn't looked back!
Cindy - Kudos for your LR and not letting a damp and dreary day get to your training! Way to keep your focus!
SoccerDog - You're lucky to have a Disney loving Mom. My Mom went with us a couple of years ago and left after a couple of days telling me I needed help, professional help. She still does.
Cam - Hope work eases up for you for awhile. I'm having a heck of a time myself. I can relate and empathize!
Martha - Great job on the Speed Work!
Mike - :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: You know, if all of us WISHer's got together for a group run, they would see us from space!
Steve - Great job getting out there with your bike, but sorry the weather has turned cold again....enough so to test your Arctic Climate Adaptation!
Stephanie - I would consider packing to be XT! If your like my SIL, then it's more like powerlifting! Have a great trip! Say "Hi" to Mickey for me.
Sunny - In spite of all of what you are going through right now: health, work, etc...and you still get up early to log in miles on your TM...I am awed by your strength and dedication!
Vic & Angie- I am SOOOO (edited for content) jealous! T of T 13K! Again, to live closer to WDW!!!
Kristi - Wow that is soo neat for your niece! Hope she goes all the way! Have fun in the Big Apple!

So anyway...did 2 miles on the TM today. Really need to work on formulating a training plan/schedule so I can starting making progress again. BUT work has been a real killer as of late and getting home late two nights in a row plays havoc on the body and mind.
I hope my DW (DJBounce) stops lurking and starts posting. Maybe she will see this and start, who knows. She is doing FANTASTIC with her training. I am starting to feel left behind by the progress she is making! I dont want to post how many sizes she has dropped. Maybe she could come tell you all herself. But I am SOOO Proud of her.

Whew, finally got a chance to sit down and reply!

Becky – Welcome!

Judy – I’m so glad to hear the great news!! Yay for running the Minnie!!

Bill and Lynnda – Congrats on the new arrival!

Carrie – Thanks so much for putting the WISH shirt order together! Ours arrived on Monday, and boy are they bright! Can’t wait to wear them! Hope you’re feeling better today.

To everyone – Great job on getting all those runs in!

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

OK, work has just taken off for me, and I've been super busy there - and I guess at home too. I just wanted to post a quick training report. Yesterday I did 3 miles on the TM at 9:31 mpm pace. My left booty was slightly sore, but not too bad. I think I'm going to SWOG and rest it some more today. I have a 12-13 mile LR planned for Saturday. It will be cold and maybe snowy.

Good Morning Everyone,

Angie: The thing about the weather in NE is it changes quickly. Although there's 3 inches of snow on the ground today, by next week it's supposed to be in the 50's and sunny. Good luck with your conference at UMass. If you have some extra time and a car, try to visit the Yankee Candle Flagship store in South Deerfield, it's only 20 min from Amherst. It's got an amazing toy store and Xmas shop.

Leana: Thanks so much for getting the discount. The skirts really are cute. Great pictures of you and your friends.

Martha: Good luck with your trainer today.

Kristi: Have fun in the big city. Sounds like fun. Good luck to your niece.

Andrew: Sorry work has been so tough. Good luck in getting back to a training schedule.

Dave: Good luck with your LR this weekend. Sorry about the snow.

Have a great day everyone.

Cindy

Hi,

I found a website that some of you might like. It's cherylmillerville.com. It's a site about eating healthy, exercising and finding balance in your life. If you go to this url: http://cherylmillerville.com/villeblog/wp-content/uploads/2006/11/100_Wellness_Actions.pdf
she has a list of 100 Wellness Actions you can do to achieve a healthier life. I checked off all that I thought I did regularly and identified a few that I thought I could work on. (Especially the decluttering ones.) I guess I have a way to go in improving my overall wellness.

Enjoy.
Cindy

Good morning TEAM!! I'm a slacker, I didn't go to the Community Center and xt like I planned. I left work late and traffic was heavy and I just didn't feel like stopping. I thought about running on TM, but that would have screwed the rest of my week up because I'm supposed to run tonight. So I went home and made dinner and did some house work, not enough, but a little. :) I know there are a couple of veg-heads on here, so I'll post the recipe for the Garden Pizza I made for dinner in another post. It was AWESOME! Tonight I have 4 miles, probably on the treadmill as right now it's 25 degrees and snowing.

Leana--Gina???? Are you kidding me????????????? GRRRRR!!!! Thanks for getting the discount at skirtssports.com, I don't have any running skirts, but I think they are so cute! :cutie:

Darcey--:wave2: Come play with us!!!

Andrew--A killer work schedule seems to be a common thread around here! Good for you for working your running around your work.

Angie--Do I need to NDA you some sweaters??? :) We look about the same size. Hopefully spring will come back to the Northeast and Midwest before you get up there next week.

Kristi--I hope you are having lots of fun in NYC!!! :wizard: to Molly!

Carrie--How much snow did you get? I have a friend in Arbor Hills (I think that's where she is, suburb of Detroit) and she said they got a couple of inches last night. It's flurrying here, but not sticking. I can't believe 2 days ago it was 80 and I was wearing shorts. CRAZY!!

Sunny-- I'm sorry life is so busy right now, just remember to keep yourself a top priority.

Cindy--Thanks for the website, I'm getting ready to check that out.

SoccerDog--Do not worry about justifying not running to us. A half marathon is a big deal, good for you for realizing that you just don't have the time to train for one now. I know I certainly never thought about running anything over a mile or 2 when I was in high school. In fact, I was 27 when I ran my first half marathon. Just come to WDW and have fun being part of your Mom's scream team.

Martha--Enjoy your rest day!

Bill--How are Lynnda and the boys doing?

Laurie--Nice 3 mile time!! Wow! You are fast.

Vic--:wave2:

Sorry to post this here, but I know there are at least 2 vegetarians on this thread and I'm sure they are always looking for good veggie recipes. Stephen and I are not vegetarian, but I've been trying to make at least one or 2 vegetarian dinners a week.

Garden Pizza
Recipe courtesy of Taste of Home

1/2 cup chopped zucchini
1/2 cup chopped sweet red pepper
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
2 tablespoons chopped onion
2 tablespoons chopped carrot
1 garlic clove, minced
2 teaspoons butter
1/8 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/8 teaspoon dried oregano
Dash pepper
1 prebaked mini Italian bread shell crust (8 inches)
1/3 cup chopped seeded tomato
1/3 cup shredded Italian cheese blend
In a large skillet, sauté the zucchini, peppers, onion, carrot and garlic in
butter for 8-10 minutes or until tender. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning,
oregano and pepper; toss to coat. Place the crust on an ungreased baking
sheet or pizza pan. Spoon vegetable mixture onto crust to within 1/2 in. of
edges. Top with tomato and cheese. Bake at 450° for 8-10 minutes or until
cheese is melted.

Changes I made--added mushrooms and a little blue cheese because I had both on hand. I used 1 tbsp olive oil and then a couple squirts of Pam instead of butter. I used fat free mozzarella cheese instead of an Italian cheese blend and I used a Pillsbury pizza crust.

Sauce--I thought about doing a sauce of yogurt and dry ranch dip mix, but I didn't know if you could cook yogurt. I also thought about doing either a peanut sauce or a hoisin sauce to give it an Asian taste and replace the Italian spices with ginger and Chinese 5-Spice. Another variation would be chili powder and cumin for a southwest/Mexican flair. A very versatile recipe!

Greetings Racing Team -

This morning I did 50 min @ 4.0 @ 1%. For some reason I am very tired today. I can tell by my hair that I had a restless night. I must have done a lot of tossing and turning. I had Witchy-Poo hair when I woke up. :scared1: I think I scared my poor Lena! Anyway, training was a struggle, but I got 'er done.

Kristi - Wow, you go Molly girl! :woohoo: That's wonderful! I'll try to watch her. Do you know when she will be on?

Angie
- Wow, Speedy! :thumbsup2

Andrew - My progress plan has just been to add a little something every couple of days. A little more time, a little more speed, some more random inclines.... Just not too much at once. And yeah, where is DW anyway? Stop with the lurking! ;)

Dave - Sorry to hear about your booty pain. And really sorry to hear your WTO. Don't leave us for too long.

Krista - Oh thanks for the recipe! :yay: (I'm a vegetarian.)

Hello Everyone!!

Just a quick post right now. Did not run last night doing six in a little while, will let you know how that goes but I wanted to jump on here and say

Sunny - That is VERY cool!! and I just realized you are in Massachusetts, I am flying up there next Wednesday for an Engineers Without Borders conference at University of Massachusetts - Amherst, so what I want to know is JUST HOW COLD IS IT UP THERE???:confused3 This florida girl is a little worried!!;)

Will catch up with everyone this evening.

angie

um, well... there's snow on the ground right now. But it could easily be in the 70s next Wednesday:lmao: :confused3 Unfortunately, Amherst is quite a ways from me, or I'd come out and say hi!

Martha-- I second the siggie admiration:thumbsup2

Bill-- You definitely deserve the "new Dad super post" award. Wow, how did you manage all of that?

Kristi-- that is super cool about your niece.

My kids had a 2 hour delay today. I didn't know that until I was all showered and dressed, but took advantage of my new TM and changed and ran 5. My toes are in really bad shape, though. I might have to actually attend to them and take a break. I go for another injection next Wed. so that will force a break. I just hope I can get my 18 miler in this weekend.

Cindy-- I'll check out the website soon. I definitely could use to help in balancing my life.

Sorry I missed so many.

Sunny

Leana--Gina???? Are you kidding me????????????? GRRRRR!!!! Thanks for getting the discount at skirtssports.com, I don't have any running skirts, but I think they are so cute! :cutie:

Krista - I know!!! Gina instead of Haley? Instead of Phil? Instead of <ahem> Sanjaya? I have resigned myself to the idea that Sanjaya will make top 3. I know Melinda and Lakisha are good, but is it just me, or is it starting to get a bit boring? I think I'm actually rooting for Blake even though he isn't as talented, mostly because he is a little different.

First for a training update: Just finished 5 miles outside. Weather was a bit cool, and a little windy, but not so bad. I actually had an awesome run, one of my best outdoors so far. I finished my 5 miles in 45:36!! With an average pace of 9:06. THis is by far my fastest pace outdoors, usually I can do this on the TM but not outdoors, so I am super happy!!!

I have a hockey game later tonight, and then tomorrow will be a rest day. Instead of doing the 10k race that I had planned to do this weekend, I am going to do my 8 mile LR that I didn't get to do last weekend.

Have a great day!!!

I totally understand! Just keep posting though. We love to hear from you. Hey where did you get that avatar of the evil queen? I need one b/c I am the EQ! Just ask my children and the peole I run with.

Krista - Thanks for the veggie recipe. That is how I went veggie. Started with 1 or 2 a week. My children and DH will eat anything though. And I am totalllly with you on the American Idol! AHHHHHHH!

To everyone who read about my buddy who ran the 100 miles - YES IT IS MADDNESS! Does anyone want to do it next year?

Leana--Jordin is getting my votes now, but I really like Blake too. I like Melinda, I think she has an incredible voice, but I don't think she'll win because she doesn't have the "pop" sound. LaKisha gets on my nerves, she always looks mad and diva-like. I don't like her pointing at the tv screen with those nasty long nails! I was a Gina fan and I am really disappointed that she is gone. She would have rocked on Bon Jovi week!!!

Now to catch up with everyone:

Kristi--That is so cool about your niece making the American Inventors show!! Have a great time in NYC, sorry we can't have warmer weather for you!

Angie--Great job on your run!!!!! Awesome pace! You are going to do awesome in the Minnie!!

Soccerdog--looks like you will be a part of the WISH scream team and official photographer!!

Andrew--Great to hear from you...sorry things have been so hectic for you....hope things settle down soon. Putting together a training plan sounds like an awesome plan to provide some motivation!

Dave--Rest sounds like a good idea. Your training has been awesome lately, so don't push it too much if it is bothering you. You want to be healthy for the Flying Pig!

Cindy--Thanks for the link, that is a great list!

Krista--Thanks! It seems that I can only run those times on the TM, althougth today I had a great run outside.

Judy--You are too funny! Can we get a picture of the witchy-poo hair? Just kidding!

Sunny--Two hour delay in april! YIKES!! What happened to our warm weather?? Guess your kids were happy. Good Luck with your 18 miler this weekend. You are such an inspiration!!!

Leana and Krista--I was so MAD last night that Gina got kicked off!!!!!!! I am ready to stop watching because I am so annoyed that Sanjaya is still there. I really think there are people in this world that vote for him just to keep him there for laughs...there was a guy a few seasons ago, I think his name was Scott Savol and I thought he was terrible but he stuck around forever because people thought it was funny to vote for him.
I actually don't really have a favorite this season, I am getting quite bored with it!!

Can those with warm weather please send it to the Northeast, I am so sick of the cold!!

Have an awesome day!!

:offtopic:
Thanks for the good thoughts for Molly, guys!

We are headed out in a few hours for the big apple. Apparently we all should be on tv at some point, since we are under strict instructions to wear no logos, labels, etc. Oh boy. Now to find an outfit that won't make me look ridiculous on tv. Or maybe, less ridiculous? ;) I have no clothes! I wear jeans & t-shirts to work! I guess my flourescent WISH shirts are out, huh? :rotfl2:

I have no idea when this airs - but I will keep everyone posted. Especially if she keeps making the cut - I think there is phone voting for contestants and I will need all my buddies to help!

Colleen, Sunny: Thanks! I look forward to posting my time when I get back from the LR.

Judy: good for you for pushing through and getting in your workout!

Kristi: congrats to your neice! Have fun in NYC

Angie: awesome pace!! :thumbsup2

Andrew: survive work and I hope you get a training schedule worked out soon!

Dave: good luck on your 12-13 miler this weekend and be careful of the snow piles!

My trainer kicked my butt as usual this morning. Lots of leg work. Tomorrow will be a light cardio to keep my legs loose but not so much that Saturday's 8.25 LR will be affected. Oh, and I've got her coming to the ToT race in the fall! Yippee!!!!!

Have a great day everyone!!!
