Non-Disney Online Games (Wizard 101) Quest Tips & Help Thread!

question to you brainiacs.

when I get a hat, it says 3% storm symbol, then a shield. that means it saves me 3% from getting hit by storm spells?

Bob says that means you will get 3% less damage from the Storm spells.

Yes, that would be 3% defense against storm damage. Also there are some items with a defensive percentage bump across the board and those just have the percentage and the shield. Best place to check is your character tab where it'll show the bonuses you currently have active in all the schools of magic for accuracy, power and defense.

ty and ty :)

Can I ask what some of you are collecting? OK the shield only percentage is an obvious good thing. But what are you all keeping for equipment? big HP boosts over shields? I have been doing my equipment all wrong I just realized ROFL, curious where you are all at :)

Have you tried just hitting the ENTER key? That should open up an empty dialogue box at the bottom of your screen for chatting. Whatever you type there will be seen by other wizards in the area -- provided they don't have restricted chat.

Ok I just signed on to the game and luckily ran into BriarRosie , so I now have one friend (yay! thanks!). I tried hitting the enter key and I got the dialog box, I typed in there and then hit enter again. I did not see anything come up and I asked if she saw what I said and got no response. So now I am totally confused. BriarRosie, did you see if I said anything? Maybe it is some issue with my computer?

Thanks for all the other info  . Just wish I had read it a before I made the mistake of going into Fire/Storm...though I am thinking I will just continue from here on with Fire and maybe Life. Figure I have some time to decide before I get my next training card.
:rotfl2: the FizzleCat!! I could not agree more :lmao: ! I thought it was just me and my inexperience that was causing the fizzle! I am not really liking Fire all that much any more :rotfl:

Well, that's what I've been assuming... So if I'm battling a storm critter, I dress up in everything that say x% storm/shield... looking for the highest percentage.

edit: I really should read all the posts before a respond... :rolleyes1

I keep the across the board boost items in my inventory for emergency switches, but more often am found wearing my school specific enhancing items that include HP boosts. Also I keep around heal boosting items, as well as power pip boosting items, but some inventory I carry around just for those insanely tough battles that you have to redo and rethink your attire/accessories for. :rotfl: Anything that is impossible for me to wear is sold immediately... I have a bad habit of wanting to dye my clothes to at least sort of go together, so that can burn through gold quickly. Also I always have my stormzilla by my side since he gives me a power pip percentage boost, as well as an emergency stormzilla gold card.

Some other random thoughts/comments:

Be sure to buy and use gold cards, there are some that can be very helpful... although I'm speaking from the perspective of a battered and bruised Marleybone fighter and I know I didn't need to start using them until I was a ways into the game. But knowing what I know now, I'd probably start using them earlier. I'm still surprised by just how cheap some of the really useful ones are. Also it is nice to repeat boss fights when you can since that is often where the best items are dropped.

Also it can be good to assess your opponents and switch your deck up a bit before jumping into a battle.

When you join or get sucked into a battle in progress, you can still use your potion in that instant before you actually get to start fighting but are already in your spot waiting for the earlier turn to end.

I really haven't gone crazy buying things. I realized that I can get some more powerful stuff after now reaching level 15 but I am really low on cash. :rolleyes1

Is there anyway we can come up with a Dis member code for the game? I was on another account last night which happened to be a child account. I ran into a couple of Dis members and it is very frustrating not being able to chat and let them know it was me. :yay:

heh, to think I have been selling all that stuff off ROFL

oh well I will get it....

eventually :)

Nope, I didn't see what you wrote, but I'm always accepting every friend request that comes my way.

And on a brighter note, I bought myself a pet dragon yesterday. His name is Otis. I couldn't pass up that name now that I know the Adventurers Club is closing. :(

Oh, and I made him purple with yellow trim to look like Figment!

You can actually type DIS!! I just tried it! So, I guess, that can be our code!!:thumbsup2

HELP!!!!! Since the upgrade, Marleybone has gotten soooooooooo much harder. I absolutely cannot get past fighting the Hooligan's!!

If there is someone out there who can help, please let me know. It's been 3 days!

Thanks!!!

I'd be happy to help with Marleybone. I'm Madison Stormcloud.

Thanks! It's so frustarting because I had already finished Hyde Park before the wipe and now I can't get it done.

I won't be on until later tonight. When are you usually on? We can arrange a time to meet.:)

Yay!! I can talk now!! For some reason I had my age all wrong on the game and it was showing me as a kid! :rotfl2: Guess I should have checked that before :upsidedow
I have no clue how you all are gaining levels so quickly :confused3 , I am stuck at level 9 (just call me the Fizzle Queen :))with the Final Piece (top of Golum Tower) and the Bitter Harvest (defeat the Harvest Lord). Been trying for a few days to get them, but not having any luck.
Can anybody help me out with those two? I will be more then willing to help you with any quests you have that I can, if you can help me with these two. I am signing off for right now, but will be back on later. Any help will be greatly appreciated! :flower3:

I'm on way too much, but I'll update this post when I'm back in the game again. I'm sure we can manage to hook up at some point.

And I'm more than happy to help others as well. I'm doing my best to avoid too much time in my Marleybone tasks, so happily going back as a helper. Just walking around the Marleybone monster areas can make me crazy after a while.

What is the proper etiqutte on joining a battle already in progress? Good idea or not?

well I wouldnt mind if someone joined mine, as long as they werent going to start then quit and bring in more monsters.

I can help with the Harvest Lord - just PM me when and where to meet you. I think the Tower is a solo run.

I'll be on this evening and would be glad to help with the Harvest Lord. My pyromancer is Kenneth DragonHeart.

Unfortunately, no one can help you with Golem Tower. You have to solo it. The good news is that it's a side quest and won't hold you back from otherwise progressing in the game. I suggest coming back to it when you're a higher level. (Though they give you the quest early, I know a lot of people don't complete it until they are at least level 10.)

Excellent question! But I’m afraid there’s no easy answer. This is definitely one of those YMMV things....

Because monsters will usually be added to a fight when somebody else joins, this can prove to be bad news for the first wizard(s). There have been times when I know I have health enough left to finish off a fight, so I don’t bother to heal. Suddenly, another wizard pops into the duel, bringing with them a nice, fully-charged baddie! If I can’t heal before taking a couple hits, I’m toast -– even though I would have won my individual battle.

If I see a battle in progress – particularly one that involves the same creatures I’m after – I’ll first try to quickly scope out the action. If it looks like it’s in the later stages (for example, if I see lots of pips), then I’ll just sit it out and hope to join in the next one. If, however, it looks like the battle has just started, I usually ask if the wizard(s) would mind if I joined in. And, yes, sometimes I just run into the circle a few steps behind the initiator, without asking. Even if more monsters are added as a result, being there from the beginning can make all the difference -- both to the success of the endeavor and to how my participation is received. So far I haven't had any negative reactions -- and have actually made a couple friends that way!

I finally made it back on, if there is anybody still on willing to help with the Harvest Lord, I would greatly appreciate it! (I have to take the tower on myself!! oh no!!) PM me and I'll come find you. Thanks!!
