I was so excited about our upcoming trip, but now I am freaking out after hearing on CNN about possible terrorist attacks on commercial flights........we are scheduled to leave next weekend, and now my excitement is being diminished by worry.........to any and all that will be flying in the next couple of weeks, do you worry or let it go?????? Any advice, opinion, or comments would be appreciated. I have always been truly afraid to fly, and this has just added to my concerns. Thanks in advance!!
Michelle

yea- to be honest i am.....

i know that my dh would kick anyones butt who tried anything tho-

i am going to try to not let it ruin our dream vacation

I think that it's natural to have apprehensions-I know I do. At the same time, I know that I have to continue living my life and that definitely means going to see Mickey!

Haven't worried at all. If you worry then the terrorists have one. Go to Disney have a wonderful time and just don't worry.

I am going to Spain the end of the month and the warning has not changed my plans in the least.

I just read about it on aol. And I was surfing through the net. And I finally found a good deal on cheaptickets so I just went and booked it! We leave Aug 10! I am a bit apprehensive about this, but I just pray to the Lord to keep us all from harm.

I just hope that they will not cut the securities at the airport. During this time of war, we need all the sercurites we can get. Doesn't they want us to be safe?

All we can do is pray.

I'm always afraid to fly, but I don't let it stop me. I like to travel more than I fear flying. So, I just try to work thru my fears. Anyway, I am a little bummed because our last trip to WDW was right after 9/11 and we had to worry then. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to worry about it quite as much this time and now with this new warning it just brings all of that back. We will be flying the last week of Sept. We do not intend on changing our plans at this time.

I do get a little worried, yes. But I have to let it go. Dh travels for a living, so I have to. If I think about it too much, I'd drive myself crazy. Dh is a platinum flier on 2 airlines, that's alot of flying. He'd take anyone down who tried anything though! He's big and he's trained!! Most fliers are business and alot of them are like my dh, look out terrorists!

We were on a plane to Disney on Sept 11 with our then 2 yr old son. As soon as we landed we heard what had happened back home. (We're from NY) I was extremely scared getting back on the plane to go back home. There were about 16 people, including the crew. We had to act brave for our son. He didn't understand what was going on.

Since then we've been on 5-6 round trip flights. Every one of them I get nervous and can't sleep the night before. But every one of them I act excited and smile as I walk down the ramp to the plane.

We're flying out of NY at the end of September with our son. I'm already a little nervous, but I try to tell myself that it will be alright.

I too was (am) a "little" concerned when I heard this yesterday.

But I have to remember how many times we were warned about "a possible" attack and the security thingie being raised from yellow to orange and so on and so forth and NOTHING has happened. (Thank GOD! And perhaps something was averted? Who knows?)

I have to believe that with all of the security measures that there are and the heightened awareness that we are safer flying now than we ever have been.

At least I HOPE so. ;)

Nope, not one bit. I'd majorly kick the *** of any terrorist that stood between me and Mickey. You would think with people being more alert that they would not be stupid enough to try something like that again. People would fight back.

I don't let evil people like that run my life.

This is my first time to fly and I leave in a week. I was afraid before and even more so now. I have even thought of canceling. I am so scared that I am getting sick. I am sure I will go but I am just so nervous.

Jodi

Don't even think of canceling.... They've already won when you do that. Don't be sick, be happy. Disney is the best, you'll know what I mean when you see it. I'ts definitely not six flags!!!!

He he he

I also hate to fly! The best way for me to get on a plane is to think how many flights all around the world go on every day, and it is very very rare for something to happen. The odds are much worse driving or crossing the street! We leave Saturday!:Pinkbounc

I have faith in my fellow American passengers and myself to thwart any attempt to take over another plane!

By the way, the zip ties we are all supposed to use to "lock" our luggage make excellent handcuffs if they are the large size.

Next time you are on a plane thing of all the ways you could help the flight crew take care of the problem. Think of all the things aboard a plane that you could use to defend yourself.

Play games with your children on how to people watch for things out of the ordinary. A simple game of "I spy" can keep kids busy for hours and help them take notice of their surroundings without instilling fear.

If we all refuse to be victims, we stand a chance of winning the war on terrorism - if we allow ourselves to be "terrorized" they win.

my two cents - fly safe!

Chalk me up as one in the scared to deal list.........haven't flown since 8/2001 and am NOT thrilled that these warnings are coming out right now.

Now I just have to keep the DS away from the news and newspapers.......

I do get a little nervous when we fly, I always have. But I really do not worry about terrorism involving commercial aircraft. I think they will try another method when they come after us again.

We actually planned our January 2002 trip to WDW 3 days after the Sept 11 attacks. The president asked us to spend money, travel and go on with our lives. So we did!!!

I feel exatly the way you did GrayWife. I was coming back from England on Sep 11 and was then stuck in the UK for another week waiting for the airports to open. My DW and I wanted to relax so much the next weekend we got back we went to DW and went on with our lives.

We are scheduled to fly down to Disney on the 7th and while I may be a little more apprehensive than usual (not a big fan of flying), I would definitely not let it change my plans. My DW is more nervous about it than I am but I will not live my life in fear because of these animals. I plan on going and getting there safely and sharing the magic of Disney with my children who have dreamed of this trip for months. My children deserve to have a magical vacation and we will do everything we can to give it to them!!!

So, my advice is to live your life as normal as you can and, when the opportunity presents itself, enjoy watching your children as they stare in amazement at what all Disney has to offer.

I am always a little nervous about flying, and the latest makes me a bit more nervous. However, I refuse to let it ruin my plans. We had tickets to fly 9/14/01, and due to the tragedy on 9/11, opted to drive from Colorado. We flew last year in Sept. and will fly again this year on 9/5. My opinion is that God knows when I will die, and I put my life in His hands. I'll go when I go, and there's really nothing I can do about. I might as well enjoy life until that happens. My hope is it won't happen until I'm old and grey, but since I don't know, why really worry about it.

i work in washington, dc right by the white house. it's probably safer for me to fly to disney world than it is to go to work every day, and it's certainly a heck of a lot more fun.

do i worry about flying? sure i do, but i still do it. i flew yesterday, i'll be flying the 3rd week of august, and over labor day weekend.
