havent really felt that disney return depression this time as much as i usually do
returned almost a week ago from my first completely solo trip to wdw, last at wdw aug 06, returning aug 07 and nov 07
feeling content and not depressed that ive returned - could also be that this time im very much involved with the gym i joined in sept - could be i know i'm returning

did you feel a difference in your return to RL?

Not me! I always get depressed when my vacation is over, and the only cure is to start planning the next one!

I know DH feels less depressed because he knows he's returning soon, and it doesn't help me that now he really doesn't seem to understand that I do still feel sad when I leave.

We've owned our Cape May home for nearly 9 years, and it's the same story there, but DH doesn't even pretend to feel depressed when we leave there, there's always work to do, he's happy to go home!

Me, too! I'm currently planning Dec 07 and March 08 trips. As soon as Dec 07 is over I'll be working on Dec 08. :) Always need two in the line up to be working on at any point in time.

I'm already depressed about my trip being over and we don't go for another month!:confused3 This is basically because we borrowed our 2008 points to get rooms for my extended family. I'm still working on trying to convince my brother that we can go for a trip in 2008 by borrowing some of 2009 and then we'll even out in 2009 or 2010:teacher: . He just looks at me like:rolleyes2 .

So yeah, that, "It's gonna be how long till we go?" Is setting in, even with a trip coming up.:sad2:

I love your statement about planning. We actually bought a few more VWL points toward the end of last year because, that way, we can always borrow ahead to get a 2 bedroom for my DS, DDiL and all our DGC for 5 nights...I will only BORROW VWL points for that particular purpose. We have 17 '08 VWL points left (Yes, they're coming this year so I borrowed) but if they want to come with us in '08, we will borrow the '09 points, yes, that's a plan!

We usually start planning our next trip on the long drive back, it works really well to prevent that post-disney letdown.

Then every month we sort of look at the itinerary and add a restaurant or an attraction, here and there. The fun part for us is to find something we haven't done yet or haven't done for a long time and then reminisce about it, like the Aloha show at the Poly, which I hadn't been to since I was 13 and we did last december with our whole family again. It was a total blast!

Um, I actually get more depressed the more we go... and we always have the next 3 on the books.

Go figure :confused3

I guess I just never want to leave.

There's always a tinge of sadness for me when our vacation at WDW ends, but being in DVC and knowing another trip is waiting to be planned/taken, has definitely made it much easier to pass the time between trips.

Currently planning a June 08 trip, and looking at possibilities for 09; may do an add on next year, so we may expand the options! :cool1:

Peace,
G4L

Actually, since I bought DVC, and then added on 50 points, I spend a good part of the year planning or anticipating the next trip so it curbs the post-trip blues. I've also begun to plan trips 3 times each year so I always have one on the books to look forward to.

Before DVC was a different story, because it meant more savings to go on the next trip...

I'm always sad to leave, sometimes I  a little on the way home! I am always in a state of borrowing, even after adding on! And, I totally agree, the only way to get over the :sad1: :sad1: is to keep on planning!!

We're leaving this Thursday for 8 nights at SSR.

I don't think I'll feel depressed upon leaving because we've got an 8 night trip planned for this summer that I'll get to start packing for when we return home!!

I find that if I have other trips planned, it really helps a lot in this areas. The truth is that I've usually mostly moved on to at least one to two trips ahead before any given trip. But with at least 3 weeks a year that we are now taking, not to mention weekend trips, it is easy to do so. We are at DVC VB now on an exchange and have Gatlinburg set for Fall Colors and 2 weeks in HI set for nexts Jan/Feb. We already have planned for another Gatlinburg trip as a large family group for next June, 2008 which we'll reserve in a few weeks. We do this every couple of years where we provide the accomodations, usually at WDW DVC or HH Marriott's. I have basic plans for 2009, 2010 and 2011 in place as well. I then have my list of general wants for the future to work through.

Last year was our first trip to WDW in over 20 years. When we left I had no idea when we would return so I had major depression over it!!! :sad1: Now we are DVC members so I have a Sept 07, Xmas 08 and Jan 10 planned out....like the PP's said, it helps to have another one on the horizon!! :thumbsup2

I just arrived on my trip (got here yesterday) and all I feel now is the overwhelming sensation that I'm returning home. I'm getting to know the area so well I can monitor the new construction.

By the end of next week I'll be feeling sad, but then I remember I've got 2 more trips planned here this year. I am already planning Spring of '08 though.

I only feel depresed if I don't have another trip in the works... Planning one keeps me on an even keel.. it's like the light at the end of the tunnel!!

We always have at least one future trip in the planning hopper. That really does help keep the blahs away.

I used to get a bit sad because DH wasn't as big a Disney nerd as me and he didn't feel the need to return so often.

Well...now DH is a certifiable Disney lover and it was his idea to go on our July trip right after we returned home from our Dec. 2006 stay. :thumbsup2

Buying the AP, the ease of feeding the kids on the DDP, and the fact that the kids are now older has helped DH to see the Disney light! :cool1: :cool1:

Before DVC I was always really upset on the last day of a Disney vacation. I was full of regret for what we didn't get to see or do. :sad2:
Now, I just feel a bit of remorse that time went too fast. I just get really upset when I have to say goodbye to the family members that I vacationed with. As far as leaving my Boardwalk, I know I will be back so the stress is gone. I find myself thinking about what I want to do "next time"... even if next time is too far away to book.
