I was wondering if I'm alone in this. Since the "downturn", I have not been using my DVC points to vacation at WDW. The offers have been too tempting. My last 2 trips to FLA, I jumped on the 4/3 deal and then free dining. It was nice as I've never stayed at the Mods before.

Recently, I was just sent my first Pin Code in 7 years. I'm thinking of banking or transferring again! Anyone else going thru this???

In February we used the 4/3 deal for Presidents' Week. But....only because we decided at the last minute (okay 2 months out) to go and there were no DVC villas available. Also booked the free dining for this Aug/Sept because it ended up costing the same amount of money the dining plan alone would have cost if added onto our villa. We also get a 1 day ticket each (4), the arcade voucher, the voucher for boat rental, Plant Hollywood voucher, etc.

Our good friends are doing this. Rented their BCV points for 5 nights at the POFQ with free dining anf then 3 nights at the OKW (using points) and paying for dining. The rental money paid for the POFQ, the dining while at OKW, and some of their flights. :thumbsup2

Nope using mine, did book an extra night with AP rate as it was better than the DVC cash discount.

I haven't routinely used my points for about 6 or 7 years. The only points stays I recall during that time that I personally used or did my family were a 5 night BW view (S-F) stay for my daughter and SIL for their "short" honeymoon, a 6 night stay for my wife and I in a 1 BR at SSR during the same time and one night added on to a free 2 night weekend stay at OKW in a 1 BR. I've likely averaged about 3 stays a year during that period. Most of those were exchanges in, the 2 night free stay I mentioned above, and one cash long weekend at a value. During that time I've sold 552 OKW points, added 100 AKV points and plan to eventually sell my BWV contract keeping only the 100 AKV points or possibly even less since that is actually 25*4.

We used our points this year for our scheduled NYE trip (12/26-01/01), and took advantage of the AP rate at CSR for September. We had the Free Dining package, but the AP rate + QSDP works to be a better deal for us (toddler + TS = meltdown, plus saving some money). It's a VERY cheap trip and I'm thrilled to use our points over NYE instead!

We are doing part of our trip (Thanksgiving weekend) with free dining, then moving to our 2 bedroom at the Boardwalk on Sunday for 5 days. So we are taking advantage of the free dining deal, but still using our valuable points at our beloved BWV!

What resort did you pick over Thanksgiving weekend? It says that weekend is blacked out for free dining.....

We are staying at POFQ. I booked that weekend in May with a pin code I received. Maybe the current deal is blacked out for Thanksgiving weekend? FWIW, my pin code dates did not include Thanksgiving weekend, but when I inquired about it, I was able to book it for those 3 nights...

We are using our points for a week in a two bedroom, then we were originally going to move to a one bedroom for three nights. I suddenly had a pin code and the AP offer, so we booked the last three nights in a regular Savannah view room with cash.

We always stay Standard View at AKV to save points, so this was a way to put points back to next years' trip and stay Savannah view for once.

Since we like to stay Deluxe the free dining plan usually doesn't work for us since there is only two people, but I'm really happy with the room discounts. We were also have two nights at the CR before moving to AKV. It was just to good a deal to pass up.

We stayed at AKL in 2007 (before it became DVC) and we stayed at POFQ this May on cash ressies, each with codes that saved us about 40-50% on the room rate. We bank our unused points & end up renting them to family & friends. Owning DVC does not stop us from enjoying non-DVC resorts and taking Disney up on some of their offers.
