Hi All,

Has anyone planned their Wishes wedding without having an in person planning session?

My DF started a new job a few months ago and cannot take time off before the wedding in May. So we have no choice but to do the phone planning sessions. I'm kind of nervous about it though.

Also, how in the world do you go about choosing cake filings without tasting them?

I am sure a ton of brides have only phone planning sessions. You can do a lot with emails and phone calls. I wouldn't worry about it. I agree that it will be hard to choose a menu and cake flavors with out tasting them but pick what sounds good and go for it.

Is there anyway you can go for a quick planning session with your mom or maid of honor or sister etc.?

LOL, the same way an Escape bride does: faith, hope, pixie dust and lots of disboard recommendations. :thumbsup2

I know there is so much more to worry about with a Wishes wedding. But I think with all the resources available, you should be able to get a fair sense of what you want and be able to relay that over the phone and thru email. And, as it's getting closer and I've had my phone planning sessions, I see that they are really concerned with every detail and carrying out your every last detail. Heck, sometimes I felt like I had messed up b/c I didn't have an opinion on something. I think you could plan a Wishes wedding over the phone. :cheer2: That's not to say you won't worry and stress, I know I have and I still am. But, I do have these moments of calm where I realize that they really will take care of everything and it really will be magical no matter what. So you already know that if you need help, advice, opinions or pictures of flowers, cakes, table linens, place settings, room decor, etc... you can hop on here and the disers will rally!! :flower3: :grouphug:

Thank you Ladies!!

It's going to be hard, but I will try not to worry.:rolleyes1

You are absolutely right. I'm sure they will take care of everything. And so far I have learned so much from the disboards. It is such an amazing resource and you are all so supportive. :grouphug: So even if I can't go down and see and taste everything, I can refer to everyone else's experiences on the disboards.

I was considering that, but DF really wants to go too. He said he would be sad if I went without him. :sad1:

I was also thinking that it might be amazing to NOT see or taste anything until our wedding day, because it will kind of be a wonderful surprise for us, hopefully. <fingers crossed> :confused3

i had a phone planning session. the one thing that i did was totally prepare for everything that i wanted using the info gathered on these fabulous boards...she'll ask you how many tables, food choices (i can email you menus if you need them, pm me if so), cake choices, transportation, ceremony and reception logistics...are you having a floral session? i found as many pics of what i wanted as possible and emailed them to her before our conversation. the florist will also ask about table linens, napkins, etc. this is my thought on the whole thing, disney is NOT going to let their product look bad. i'm not really concerned with how my reception site looks etc (though i DO care how much my centerpieces cost...), i just know that they'll make it look great because that's what disney does.

That sounds like a great idea! I will work on getting things together to email Celeste. I am going to have a phone session with the florist. We are setting something up for the end of January.

I can't wait to see the pics from all of you late January/ early February brides.
I'm all by myself in early May.

And I totally agree, it would not be in their best interest to make brides angry.

Hi Hope!

My advice would be to send your WP and florist as many pictures as you can get your hands on. I think that would be the best way for them to see what you really want. There are a lot of brides out there that couldn't make it to their planning session and their weddings still came out beautifully. I chose LSS based on pictures I saw on the boards and a lot of recommedations. Since I've never actually seen it in person myself, I was a little nervous about booking it. But I trust the ladies here and I trust Disney, so I'm not that worried about it anymore.

We are planning to go down for our PS even though money wise, it isn't the best decision. Between airfare and hotel - its going to cost us almost $800 just to go there for the weekend . I really want to go, so I'm just sucking it up and paying. Anyway, I'm sure everything will be great! :goodvibes

We did all our planning over the phone in 2005 for our custom wedding which I believe is now a wishes wedding. It all worked out great and our wedding was wonderful. I sent pictures of the wedding cake I wanted and they did a good job of matching the picture that I sent. It took two phone calls and many emails and that was about it. It was really easy. Disney made it very easy. Our wedding was at SBP and our reception was in the Boardwalk area (can't remember the name of the room right now). They should send you a lot of information before the session to help you organize your ideas and to be ready for the session. Ask a lot of questions, know what you want and ask for changes to menus and other items if there is something you don't like about it. Enjoy!!!

I'm the week before you!!! I'm really starting to get excited - the only thing I still need 4 months for is to drop 20 lbs!!! :scared1:

You could always bump your wedding up to February!! Okay, okay, just kidding!

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:
I think I would die!!

You are not alone!! In fact, we are the exact same day!
WP Beach/Atlantic Dance Hall!
See you then!

YAY more late April/ early May brides!!

What time is your wedding scottish/canadian? Ours is at 5:30.

We planned our wedding in 6 phone calls in 1996, well before email was readily available!!

I knew a generic idea of what I wanted and then just relaxed and delighted in how they brought it to life. Looking back I would not have changed a thing.
