Wishes or Illuminations, what's your vote?

Illuminations
No question! It's just so impressive, especially during the Christmas season when there is a *special* expanded version.
Love listening to the Illuminations CD in my car too :)

There is nothing like the Christmas version of Illuminations!! The ending fills the sky and it feels like it will never stop. Both are great and to me very different. If you can get a spot in the middle of Main Street you'll be blown away by Wishes or if you find a spot near the lake Illuminations is the best thing Disney does. IMHO. Try the little path next to the Fish n' Chips in the UK. The right hand side of the Rose and Crown. The path takes you down to a little known viewing area. Just hope no special event is using the spot that night.

On a scale of 1-10 I would give Wishes an 11 and Illuminations an 10.9, what's the reason you can't see them both? Make sure you see them both, to me that's the only way to finish a day at Disney is with one of these two shows.I'm not the biggest fan of Fantasmic, but these two are must sees!!!

Wishes and Illuminations are both great shows but I prefer Illuminations hands down. If you can go and see both of them then decide for yourself which you prefer.

The reason I was trying to whittle it down to one is mainly because I don't think DD5 can do very many late nights (even with a rest) since we plan to hit the parking lots every day by 8 a.m. And I think DH may start a mutiny if I don't quit planning every breath he takes :rotfl2: ! But really, you are all making me want to see both shows so I guess we can all sleep when we get home! Any tips to get out of MK all in one piece after Wishes?

Try to do both of them if possible.......when are you going...because on the evenings MK closes earlier Wishes sometimes is at 7 or 8. Also, Wishes is not every evening during slower times of year so check the Parks schedule shortly before your trip. We're going mid October and as of right now Wishes is only scheduled for 3 of the 7 nights we'll be there and I believe two of them are earlier shows. Illuminations does run every night at 9, however.

We will be there Oct 7-14 and according to WDWinfo website, MK is open till 9 the nights that Wishes will be (scheduled at 9pm). The other nights are MNSSHP.

Wishes is my favorite (I saw it 4 times last trip). Illuminations is good too but I wish they need to add something to the middle when the globe is coming out. Too much time with nothing going on.

The first Illuminations was much better. It used to be my favorite.

Funny how we're all different. I was so disappointed in Illuminations, everyone telling me how great it is you have to see it. What a let down, but I guess that's just me and hubby. Now WISHES the whole family thought that was GREAT.

I love both, thats not a cop out, but they're both excellent ! I think that Wishes is a little more traditional Disney, but the Music at Illuminations is all encompassing. I walk away from both saying, WOW ! :goofy:

I like both shows also. But I like Illuminations a little bit more then Wishes. The fountains, the fireworks and the music in the show are just great.

Wishes!

I like Illuminations (except for that TV-globe business...I do not "get" that), and I listen to the music in the car all the time, but Wishes! is a much better fireworks show and much more Disney-like. :)

It's hard to pick between the two, but I'm voting for Wishes. There's nothing like watching fireworks with the Castle right there!

Illuminations is something special too, but I still have to side with Wishes!

I absolutely love Wishes! It captures the Disney magic so well.

Illuminations gets rave reviews, but I just don't think it is as touching as Wishes and the globe part doesn't do much for me either. IMHO the Wishes fireworks are much prettier, Illuminations may beat Wishes in quantity but not in quality. Also, the castle changing colors follows the story and is cool.

Try to do both! :)

We have decided to only try to see one fireworks show, so I will trust all you Disney veterans to tell us which is best and why! :teeth:
lets see hmmmmmmmmmmm i would have to vote for WISHES. and get a good view from anywhere in front of the castle as long as the walt mickey statue. just my opinion

I'm really leaning towards Wishes! Seeing the fireworks behind the castle just seems like a dream :cloud9: ! Can you win me over Illuminations fans? :yay:
