my bride and I will be staying at the Poly for our wedding, and were wondering if they still piped in the wishes soundtrack on the beach? it would be a great way to spend some time with our guests after the ceremony and dinner.

My DF and I are staying/getting married at the Poly in September too! When is yours?

I haven't heard about them piping music onto the beach, but I have heard they pipe it into the concierge lounge...I'll be interested to hear what others tell you! :)

We had dinner at Kona Cafe one evening in late August and then went down to the beach to watch Wishes. The music was piped in! Enjoy and congrads!

DH and I watched Wishes at 10:00 this past Saturday night from the beach. maybe it was where we were on the beach but the only music we could hear was from the Luau which ended at exactly the same time wishes did. IMHO it did not make the experience any less wonderful!

We haven't watched Wishes from the beach by Tahiti nor the beach closest to the luau but from the center beach we have found that the music for Wishes is not played along the beach in front of Hawaii. You can hear it from over near the bar and there is a speaker near the kids spray area that plays it but very softly.

As you move closer to the GCH, the music is much clearer.

Others have reported different experiences but that is ours.

I agree you can't hear it in front of Hawaii but closer to the pool you can.

We did this last June but there was NO music (and we sat on the beach directly in front of the pool...maybe from the pool?)! It was still a wonderfull and romantic thing to do  @ wdw...providing you will see wishes 1st in MK so you kind of have the story in your head! CONGRATULATIONS

Actually you can hear it from in front of Hawaii. Every time I have been there you could hear it and someone I know was there last Saturday and said you could still hear it. The speakers are in the lights (one was right in front of our room) but in the last few years they have been turned down so you can only hear it if you are close to the light/speaker and not from the beach or at our room. I don’t know if they plan to ever turn them back up again but they are on but it would be easy to not notice it.

I suggest if you have time try to catch Wishes at both the Poly and the MK. The experience is different for both. I stood near the light (where the speaker was) and watched at the Poly. Seeing the entire castle and all the fireworks around it was spectacular. As well as it being spectacular at the MK

Take Care

I think if you are on the beach close to the pool you will be able to hear it. Stick around and watch the Electirc Water Pagent as well.

OK, that is pretty funny. My husband swore there was no music coming from the "old" lights along the beach a trip or two...or maybe last summer. He is a little hard of hearing though so he may be wrong. ;) We certainly still could not hear it from our lanai in Hawaii this trip.

But he was the one in our family who discovered the mushroom like speaker near the kids play area that was playing it softly....very softly.

I tried to figure out if the newer mushroom lights by the pool were playing the music but the music is so much louder there that I couldn't tell. It was like surround sound!

We watched Wishes on 4/17/05 with my BIL and SIL and couldn't really hear the music. We weren't too far from Hawaii and the concierge lounge. If we do this again, I think I'll try nearer the pool or search for the light/speakers.

We stayed at the Poly last week and there was no music playing by the pool or beach. There is one light/speaker like Tikiman mentioned next to Hawaii on the corner by the sidewalk that plays the music, but you have to sit right on top of the light/speaker to hear it. A family noticed it one night when we were there and sat down right next to it.

The music from the Electical Water Parade is nice and loud though! I think it comes from the speakers on the small "island" across from the Poly beach or maybe from the floats themselves?

hiwaygal ~ we'll be getting hitched at sunset pointe on 9/4

thanks to the rest of you! we'll have to scope it out a day or two beforehand. we have dinner at the cali grille at 5:30 (locked into that time b/c our party is 30 poeple), so if wishes were at like 9 or 10, we were looking for a back-up plan.

steve, you're site was great! one of the main reasons we decided to have our only deluxe trip to the poly. please reconsider the closure!!!

The one place we heard the music very well was at the end of the back of the marina, just as you walk out of the GCH heading towards the Figi building. Standing there by the water and watching was great. My DH and I had excited the GCH and the non-tiki type music caught my ear and my brain said.. wait a minute!<G> I myself could not hear the music on another night at the beach at the end of the pool but could the further away from the beach I got. Going to be at the Poly in about 27 days and hope to hear and watch it all again!<G>

I wish they would turn them back up =-- I would love to hear it from my room (generally in the area of 3511). I will say we sat outside on the sidewalk near that area on our last night in April (on the first) and we couldn't hear any music except for that which traveled across the lagoon from the actual show.
