WISHES IS GONE (leaving in May)

I do the same thing, which is why I don't see the point of bringing it back. Honestly, it was more crowded most nights with FP than it is now.
Fireworks viewing is tricky - there's often a ton of empty space but you can't see it from the outside. I never camp our for fireworks, and I can always grab a good spot in the hub for them just before they start.
Yes, I always felt we were packed like sardines when we had Wishes fp's.

This is one thing I hoped to never hear happen. I don't care how good this new show might be. Wishes is a tradition. Wishes is what I look forward to most on the trip.

The soundtrack alone makes you feel like your in another world. Hearing star light star bright, first star I see tonight, till this day makes my heart melt and brings tears. It's the perfect cap off of a day at magic kingdom.

This is something that everyone should experience. I understand that some of you have seen wishes 100 times but it never stops you from feeling it in your heart while you watch it.

This is a sad day for me and something I think Disney will regret. They most likely will scale back on the fireworks also to save money

Classic Disney is what made it have its charm. I'm not a fan of adding all these newer movies in that have zero impact like the classics. There basic movies that won't ever be remembered. Not timeless classics

Wishes should stay forever imo. I highly doubt I will get chills watching and hearing this new one

If this is anything like what they did when "Symphony in the Stars" changed to "Galactic Spectacular" (gutting most of the actual fireworks in exchange for watching a clip shown projected on the building), I'm going to be really disappointed. Hopefully the projections are the icing and not the cake of the show.

I was SHOCKED when I read that the last day was May 12th! :worried::worried::worried: While the pyrotechnical show is beautiful, its always been about the music for me and the story Wishes tells. It is the epitome of what Disney is to me. Its like Disney is ripping away how they define themselves.:sad::sad:

I am admittedly a traditionalist. However, we can't stop change. I am willing to give the new show a chance, but I doubt whatever music choice they make will as clearly articulate what Disney has been to me all my life.

That's how I felt when they replaced Fantasy in the Sky with Wishes. I never felt like Wishes captured the same magic as the prior show, and some of the music kind of grated on my nerves. I also felt the same way when they replaced the Main Street Electrical Parade with Spectromagic. I didn't like Spectromagic nearly as much. I'm not all about the old shows though. I like the current Illuminations much better than the earlier night shows at Epcot, like Laserphonic Fantasy. I think it all boils down to what speaks to you. I won't judge the new show until I see it in person though.

Yes, I always felt we were packed like sardines when we had Wishes fp's.

We used it about 3 or 4 times and each time we enjoyed sitting down in the very back, leaning against the bars..and we usually had about 3-4 feet between us and the next person. It was always only crowded near the front

Yes I saw symphony in the stars in person and it was the best show I've ever seen firework wise in my life.

GS is garbage compared to it. Such a disappointment. They cheap out on the stuff that makes the show good. I will never go see GS in person. Would be a waste of my time. I feel bad for the ones who never got to experience SITS

Glad you enjoyed it. We were unable to sit with the fp's. The cm's kept telling everyone to stand up when we went, in order to squeeze in more people.

I honestly wonder if those who are so down on this as a cost cutting measure ever saw DL Forever. That was spectacular and if they do half of that at WDW it will blow your socks off

I can understand the concern...they only ran DL Forever for the anniversary. Unlike RDCT, as soon as the 60th was over, they stopped DLF. We saw the "Believe" Christmas fireworks for the first time this year, and I'm not going to lie..it was a bit of a let down after RDCT and DLF. I think that's why DLR ended up bringing back RDCT this month (with updated projections on the castle and iasw, but none on Main Street).

So yeah, I get the concern about WDW cost cutting...but hopefully they'll go all out like they did for DLF, and it'll be amazing :)

If this show is big on projections (at least from a storytelling point of view) it will mean you pretty much have to watch from Main Street. No more watching from NFL for us.

It would be interesting to see if WDW would ever do what they did with DLF and have different projection areas around the park. WDW doesn't have that big iasw facade to project on...I'm not sure what they could do it on at the MK. It would be nice, though. The experience at DLR was so different, depending on where you watched it..and it was worth it to see it from all of the different viewpoints.

I wonder if the change will affect HalloWishes and Holiday Wishes in any way? I hope not, but you never know with Disney. Hallow Happily Ever After?

yes, this is the same concern I had. It will increase crowds in the Hub area for certain since the projections will be lost in NFL

I will miss Wishes, how could any long time Disney lover not. But for me it was all about Jiminy Cricket. Hearing his voice as a narrator was the most inspiring and touching part of the show for me. To me he is the voice of Walt and is a Disney character that promotes positivity and a feeling of epic warmth  I am ok with Wishes being replaced with something else, I'm not ok with losing Jiminy :(
You bring up a good point. With his voice over going away there will be very little Jimmy left in the parks.

Totally bummed....our WDW vacation doesn't "officially" begin until we watch that on our first night there.....very sad to see it go as its been there since we started going regularly. I'm not one for change so although the new show will probably be amazing, it still bums me out to see it go as well.

The biggest problems with going to more projection based shows on the castle now and in the future are too many trees.
If everybody needs to be in front of the castle to see the projection part of the shows, trees with expanding branches make it hard to see the castle clearly..unless your on Main St or in the middle of the hub.
If they can replace the ones in and around the hub with some tall slender "Christmas" like trees..
that would be great.

I love Wishes but I've seen it on every trip I've been on - I've never known MK without Wishes

Same here ever since my 1st Visit in 2009. I have watched it from in front of the Castle and behind the Castle. I always get teary...

I'm glad I have a trip in March so I can see Wishes one last time.

Me too BrianL. I'll be there in March for my birthday & will see Wishes for the last time probably on my birthday the 11th.
Wow that will be emotional! Wonder if I should watch from the front or back of the Castle. I think the Front for sure.
This trip will be crazy... RoL, Last time for Wishes, 1st time for new welcome show.
I sure hope they keep Tink! Will also miss Jiminy as narrator.

I'd be more excited if Disney was doing it to provide a really great experience for the guests. Unfortunately this is just another cost cutting move that will depend less on fireworks and more on cheap projection elements. With all the really poor decisions coming from Disney management these days I have zero faith that this is a move in the right direction. The projection shows don't have anywhere near the wow factor that the fireworks have.

Pay more and get less is the current direction of the Disney parks experience. No evening parade and now a cheaper show at night. I wonder how they will manage to up-sell this. That's where the real focus lies.
