Wishes fireworks

I just read this at http://miceage.com/kevinyee/ky021004a.htm and thought it interesting:

Wishes was intended to have REAL LIVE CHARACTERS incorporated into it. Yes, when Genie is heard to say, "Hey people.. UP HERE!" instead of some shells going off, you were supposed to see GENIE UP ON THE CASTLE! The same goes for all the other characters used in the show. In fact, late one night I actually saw some testing for what I believe was the "Blue Fairy" effect to be used in the show: a laser being aimed onto the castle and flown around.

Unfortunately, all that stuff was cut at the last moment, leaving just the shells. I'm also inclined to believe that someone felt that using characters in the show might make people compare it to "Fantasmic" and questions would arise as to why there are no fountains. Personally, I think they should have stuck with the characters; after all, Tinker Bell is there.
