Going to be celebrating 10th anniversary with the my better half later this year. One of her top 3 things to do in all of WDW is see Wishes. We have never done any of the corresponding Parties en such that you can buy tickets for. I think it is time for that to change and the Dessert Party sounds right up our alley. I just had a couple basic questions;

  1. Cost?
  2. How is the view? The terrace is off to the right of the castle, but I generally stand on one of the bridges of TomorrowLand to get a better View of Tink anyways
  3. How is the food? (should have been the first question, lol)
  4. Any reason one can think of not to go? Maybe a better option, etc.
Thanks for all the advice and I apologize if there is already a thread for this party, I did not see it.

1. New price (2015) $49 adults. $29 kids 3-9 yrs.
2. View can be good (if you are up against/near the railing.)
3. Do you like eating a lot of desserts? I'd be "finished" after eating one (or two.)
4. They have stopped pre-assigning tables. You may or may not get a table on/near the railing, so it may be that you would have to stand to see the show. (This has always been the case.)
Edit: Some say that there is no more room to stand at the rail. So, if your table is not
near that rail, you may not be able to see all of the fireworks.
(If that's the case, what the heck good is paying for the "fireworks party?")
Tink does fly (on the nights she flies) overhead,

Since it's something that she wants, it may be worth it to you. But, for me, I was kind of sorry we tried it. Did not find the cost worth it. We were on the front row of tables so had a fine view of the fireworks and Tink flying. But, the desserts were not all that great, and the drink choices terrible. They ran out of the desserts we did like very quickly and did not replenish. And it felt like a fish feeding frenzy at the dessert tables because they were set up too close to each other. It's been a few years, so things could have changed.

1. $25.99 adults. $13.99 kids 3-9 yrs. (If it's a "peak" time, the price will be higher.)

I thought the price doubled last year? Have they lowered back to the old prices?

We liked it a lot. It was nice to be able to relax and have a good view of the fireworks after a long day in the parks.

Yeah, it's still about double.

Also of note, the assigned seating is gone so you'll have to line up about an hour before it starts to snag a good table.

I have done it 4 times - prior the price hike - and enjoyed it every time. Nice to get out of the crowd, the desserts are good, and it is a good view.
Not like being right in front with everything lining up with the castle, but it is a good view. Cool to watch Tink fly over you too!
We have an ADR for June, looking forward to it - but that price hike...for not much extra...If they had adult drinks, like the Illuminations Dessert Party, ok,
but not for themed cupcakes and a couple new drinks, and cheese...

We shall see...

What is the actual price now? $100 per adult?

We have done the Dessert Party twice and would do it again in a heartbeat! We wanted to book it for our trip next month but no reservations are available when we will be there. It is expensive and if you are looking for lthe price to reflect the quality and quantity of the desserts; forget it. They are good (I like me some desserts) but you will likely not eat $49.00 worth. The draw is the view ... where your table is doesn't matter as everyone goes to the railings when the show starts anyway. We have made 25+ trips to WDW and finally did the dessert party a couple of trips ago ... first time I actually say the whole show without having to "stake out" a position hours ahead of time and got to watch the magic without elbows and having to endure being at eye level with some sweaty guys armpit (I'm short). As it is a special occasion spring for the experience ... but don't eat dinner before the show!

The draw used to be the view, you are no longer allowed to stand at the rail - this is all changed. I have done the party many times in the past and cancelled my reservation for this year due to the changes.

How is the view from the tables?

This along with some "magic" we haven't experienced before and the desserts of course are the reason I am interested in the party.

I have done 7 dessert parties but with the newly changed loss of assigned seating I will not be returning.

Look into a private wishes cruise. You can order cake or private dining snacks and have a relaxing boat to yourself and a beautiful view from the water.

loss of assigned seating

I'm curious about this one as well:

I would still think that there would be enough seating for everyone (I assume they would only let in the same number as there is places to sit). What about the loss of assigned seating would make you not want to go? If it gets to standing room only that would be an issue.

The Cruise is a GREAT idea as well though, I had forgotten about that.

There is an overhang. Not all the tables have great views.

It used to be nice to just walk in 20 minutes before everything and sit down at your table to eat. People would go to the risking to watch the show or stay in their seats. Now the tables are pushed up to the railing so if you've got a bad view, you've got a bad view.

There's also a dessert party at Narcoossee for Wishes.

We were planning on doing this also, had done it in the past and didn't mind that we did not have good views from our seats. There is an overhang that blocks the view, however, we (and everyone else) got up and stood at the railing which was fine. I wasn't crazy about the dessert but was willing to pay extra because I wanted to get a good view without waiting 2 hours. Now if I want a good view I have to line up an hour early before the party at 7PM a good 2 hours before Wishes. If I wanted to waste 2 hours of park time waiting for a decent view I can do that for free!

I second the suggestion of the Wishes cruise. I did it last year with my grandkids aged 3,4 and 5, plus my daughter, son and niece. It was AMAZING! They took us on a cruise around the old River Country, WL, and all around Bay Lake. Then we stopped in front of the MK with a beautiful view of the fireworks. The music was piped in to the boats sound system, so no problem there. Plus, they had water, soda, chips, cookies, pretzels and we noshed on those for the whole trip. There were a lot of snacks left at the end of the cruise, and our guide sacked them up and we took them back to the condo with us. It was a perfect evening, and way better than fighting the Main Street crowds for a decent view. It was about $300.00, so not cheap, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I wish I had know about the assigned seating or I would have jumped on this instead. Now it is too late. We had done a Pirate Wishes cruise a few years ago and that was just awesome!

And to make me even more irritated that added the Star War's Dessert Party dates long after I had made my 180 day reservations so they literally, when online and were gone in days so I had no chance of getting it.

There is room for everyone, but with tables pushed up to the rails and seating first come first served, not everyone gets a good view anymore. Also with what I have seen the tables are much closer together and people are lining up over an hour ahead of time. If I wanted to be squished and worried about staking out a spot, I'd grab a cupcake and make camp somewhere in the hub and watch for free and save $50pp. I did the dessert party to take away the stress and chaos, and IMO with the change they threw it right back in. I have no desire to get there early or worry about where I will sit, avoiding those things is why I used to do the dessert party so often.

The cruise though is my favorite splurge I have ever done at WDW. So worth it. I think it's like $350 or somewhere around there.
