So we've never done this and I'm interested in possibly doing this for our next trip. For those who have done this, how many times have you participated and what do you like about it?
For those who haven't and are planning to, what lead you to decide?

Trying to figure if it'll be worth it. We have 3 children; DD10 DS4 and DD 9 months

I have been twice and always enjoy myself. I love the desserts even though they are mostly not that good. I mainly just inhale 40 mango shooters, 2 chocolate covered strawberries, and some ice cream. I like the fact that I do not have to be herded like cattle to see Wishes along with a thousand other people. Craning to get a glimpse of the castle and desperately pushing past others to get a better view. Even tripping over others who have sat down to wait. I don't have to come 3 hours early to "get a good spot!" Here I have that spot. I have no pushing or shoving. Just a select few sharing desserts and having a peaceful time. A great view too; we get to see Tink up close! It's not worth it to some people, but I still love it nonetheless.

Iv done it in 2011 and 2013. I loved the location to view the fireworks. The desserts are pretty good too.

How much doesn the dessert party cost if you don't mind me asking? I'm thinking about this for our August trip too! I'm thinking my mum and dad would prefer to be out of the crowds for wishes if possible :)

We (DW, DS-7, DD-3, & me) really enjoyed the Dessert Party last June. The desserts and drinks were yummy, but we really enjoyed the elevated view of the MSEP, Castle projection show, & Wishes. My little girl's favorite part was that Tinkerbell "flew" right over us... literally, 10 feet away from our vantage point. I believe it cost us around $25 per adult and a bit less for the kids. (On a side note, we also did the "Pirates and Pals Fireworks Cruise. IMO, that was more fun for us and the kids than the Dessert Party)

we have done this twice and really enjoy the desserts plus having a nice place to sit and relax before the fireworks show is a great bonus . We have a 9 year old son and I think he likes it the most he just sits there and eat dessert and watch the parade even thought its not the best view then have a great view of fireworks.

It is $25 PP and I went to my first just this Sunday and enjoyed thoroughly!
The res are almost impossible to get, at least the times I tried. I had actually gotten res for the Epcot dessert party and this res popped up. I am glad I went with this one. The Epcot party price($45) and reviews for the Epcot party did not seem that great especially for the difference in price! It was really cool to see Tinker Bell come flying over your head, that's something you do not see every day! The view from the terrace was great and the desserts were good too. It was great not to have to stake out a spot 2 hrs ahead of time sitting on the curb afraid to move. Comfortable chairs, chocolate and coffee- I am there!:cool1:

Where is the dessert party located exactly?

The Tomorrowland Terrace. There are only about 75 or so people up there. Everyone ate great snacks & treats, then we all had plenty of "rail room" for an unobstructed view of the parade, Castle Show, & Wishes. If you follow the wire that Tinkerbell flies on, it leads to the roof of where the seating for the event is.

What is the pirate party?

It starts at the Contemporary Resort where you get your pirate bandanna. A meeting hall is set up for cake, ice-cream, snacks, games, & Captain Hook/Mr. Smee meet-and-greet with photos. Then you are assigned a captain and a boat (our captain was "Patch" and he was fantastic). You first watch the Water Parade from your boat before motoring over Bay Lake for a perfect view of the Castle to watch the fireworks. Music is piped in to your boat. Afterward, you head back only to have Peter Pan waiting on the dock for you for another meet-and-greet (be sure to remove your bandanna). Your captain will entertain young and old alike the entire cruise, too. It really was the best non-park experience we've had.

That sounds pretty neat! Will have to look into that.

We did the Pirate cruise in Sept. 2012 and my kids still talk about how fun Peter Pan was that night. It was a lot of fun with a lot of interaction with Hook, Smee, and Peter.

What's the fireworks view like from the cruise? I'm guessing you don't see Tink though?

Counting down to 14th May!

What is the pirate party?

The dessert party is located in Tomorrowland Terrace which is to the right of the castle when facing the castle from the entrance to MK. It is a very good location to watch the show but tickets are difficult to get - probably need to book 180 days out - and you have to pay when you book. The desserts aren't that good but having an assigned table and the view is hard to beat.

Robo probably has a very helpful map of the location.

I've done the dessert party three times. Love it. Not for the desserts, which as others said are just so-so, but for the freedom. I can get up, walk around, come back to my chair, and it's still there. For me! The crowd crush on MS and around the hub kills the magic for me.

For what you get, I think it's one of the better values in WDW. Walk up half hour before show time, get a seat, get some food and a place to linger after the finale. Not bad.

All that said, it is a very hard ticket to get.

We did this last year. We enjoyed it. Although the desserts were ok, nothing fancy, we did enjoy having a place to see wishes and it is a good place to see Tink fly. Be aware, that you can't stay seated and expect to see the fireworks. Everyone will rush to balcony but for my 9 yr old and 15 yr, they could still see. Your little ones might have trouble seeing everything. It isn't too crowded and it was nice having a designated spot and not have to fight the crowds on the streets.

We did it once. That will be it for us. The cost exceeded what we thought it was worth. I did not like the way the buffet was set up, it took a long time to get in, even arriving early, and we didn't really think the desserts were all that great. The best part was the front row seats....but you have people standing in front of you during. I prefer standing in the crowds on main street for a head-on view of the castle to the side view you get at the Plaza site.

Last week I stumbled on a reservation (4 pp) for August 5th and I immediately grabbed it even though I only had a vague idea of what it was. I then researched everything, talked about it to my husband and now I cannot wait to go even if that means I have to cancel a CP dinner ADR so we’re not too full when it’s time for dessert.
For 2 adults, 1 child (5yo) and 1 toddler the total came to 70$. Pricy but will be the perfect finale of our stay at WDW this summer.

What do you guys mean when you say people are standing in front of you during the show? I guess I'm a bit confused how they can stand in front of you if it's private seating.

But it sounds wonderful. I'd try to get tickets for the seats. Of course dessert sounds wonderful too even if it's only Ok.

People don't stay at their tables, they walk up to the railing.
