I just have one question before I book - If Wishes is cancelled for some reason, do you get your money back?

It costs about $150 for our family, and we aren't big dessert eaters. We will probably just have some fruit and a tart. We are mostly booking for the Wishes view without staking out a spot.

No refunds from what I know. Since they don't cancel the event, and the food is still available, there's really no reason to give a refund. Even for the fireworks cruises, there are no refunds if the fireworks are cancelled.

All that said, Wishes is hardly ever ever cancelled.

If you are just going to view the fireworks it's definitely not the best place to watch them... You get a good view of tink... But for 150 bucks you will see the fireworks off center, etc... I would only do it to enjoy both experiences. And if you haven't seen Wishes before, I wouldn't recommend it either as it takes away some of the "awe" from the angle.

Can you recommend a better place?

My problem is that last time we watched Wishes in front of the castle, I had a major panic attack knowing there were hundreds of people in every direction of me. I had a complete meltdown, I thought I would have a heart attack:guilty:

I would love to experience Wishes with my family without the major crowds.

Here are a couple of pics of SOME of the dessert options...

Does anyone know how soon we can book the Wishes Desert Party? We are going down in late September and can't seem to find when it is open to book.

They didn't open bookings for August until May 28th. Keep checking for September but if it holds to pattern it should open within another week or so.

When August opened, you had to manually type in the date with the zeroes ... 09/01/2011 ... to get the date to change from the current date.

We have never been and are really looking forward to trying it this year!

Good Luck!

If you don't care if you're inside the park during Wishes I would say to head to the Poly and watch from the beach. From what I understand they pipe in the music so you can still hear that, you'll get a good view of the fireworks, plus you won't have to deal with quite so many people surrounding you.

If you're want to watch it from inside the park, and you're going during off season, we always like to sit behind the castle, close to Pinocchio's. You might not get the best view, but you'll have space to yourself, and you still get to enjoy the fireworks.
As an added bonus you can take your time and stroll out of the park, again avoiding everybody and their brother completely surrounding you.

This just happened to us this last week. We booked the dessert party, not so much for the desserts as for the time it would save us from not having to stake out a spot. (We were doing all 4 parks in one day so time was a big factor.) Well, while we were eating, there was a remarkable lightning storm above the castle. It was like fireworks!!! Well, when Wishes was supposed to start at 10:00, an announcement was made that they were delayed due to an imminent storm. We waited about 40 minutes, then decided to leave so we could do a few attractions in the park. We did not ask for a refund since I had read that they would not give a refund. Throughout the next hour, they kept announcing that it was delayed. I was so frustrated that Wishes was probably going to be cancelled since it was my 40th birthday and this was one of the things I really wanted to see. Well, 10 minutes before midnight, they announced that they were going to present Wishes. Since so many people had left the park, we were able to view them directly in front of the castle. Best seat in the house, and I didn't even have to stake out a spot! It was amazing! I was just frustrated that I had spent the money for mainly the seat and ended up with a better seat! The desserts were definitely NOT worth the price I paid. But oh well, live and learn.

BTW, if you have crowd issues, I'm not sure I would recommend the dessert party anyway. It was a madhouse in there! Lots of people, small area, everyone attacking the desserts. It made me not even want to leave my table to get seconds. I agree with a previous poster about watching them from the Poly beach. I've done that a few times and love it!
