Wishes Dessert Party, is it worth it? Lots of questions!!!

I did this with my Mom on May 2nd.

We were there for about 1.5 hours. We had time to get two rounds of desserts, get an awesome spot at the railing ( right under Tinks flight path). I have to agree that it is too far to get a good view of the parade ( Spectro in our case.) The variety of desserts was awesome. My mom is allergic to chocolate ( white is fine though) and she had two and half plates of desserts! No complaints of not enough she could eat! The desserts and drinks were still out after Wishes in my case, and people went up for more. Also there was a photopass photographer there to get a great pic. I really loved the experience and would totally do it again.

We loved it (we went this past October) - the only complaint was the drinks offered. I don't drink tea or coffee and I wish they had soda available. The lemonade and iced tea that was available tasted 'off' to me so I didn't end up drinking anything. It was so bad that I actually couldn't drink it.

The variety of desserts was wonderful and well worth the money. As for a previous poster that mentioned they clear the plates away too early, if you tell them you still want to enjoy the desserts they left the plates alone. They also kept refilling the buffet for the duration of the party.

It seems that the prices for the dessert party range approx. $20 to $30 per adult.

1. Do you find that the quality of the desserts is worth the price?

2. Do you feel that the party is crowded?

3. Is there enough space on the railing for everyone to get a decent view of Wishes?

4. If you have done the party before, would you do it again?

5. Do you have any pics and/or tips to share?

1. I thought the quality of the desserts were good. They had quite a few "fancy desserts" that I enjoyed. Whether it's worth the price or not is up to you, to me it was iffy.

2. I didn't think it was too crowded.

3. I think everyone got a decent view but not everyone was right up against the railing. I wanted to take some pictures and honestly the angle wasn't good.

4. I wouldn't do the party again. We did it in October 2009 when it was $25 a person. I told DH later that we could've went to a TS restaurant and got a full meal for what we paid for desserts.

Seeing the pics reminded me that not all of the desserts were tasty.

That orange mango shooter is vile, it is like sucking room temp, orange flavored goo out of hose. Stay away! Shudder.

Yesterday, I was thrilled to get a last-minute reservation for Wishes Dessert Party for December 14th. Today, I am bummed. :sad1:It just occurred to me that we are not booked for MVMCP that evening. Disney allowed me to drop $100 for reservations at a party that I cannot attend. Now, I need to call them back and cancel. Has this occured to anyone else? I am curious to see what would happen if I tried to enter MK that evening with Wishes Party reservations, but no MVMCP reservations . . . but not curious enough to risk $100 on the matter.

It says when booking that theme park tickets are required. All TS park restaurants say this - it's not up to Disney to see if you abide by this rule, until time of entering park. In your case, it's a private ticket event, so you would need that ticket, just as you would need a park ticket for a non-party night.

Disney will make always ADRs, as some guests don't buy their tickets until they are at the gate; therefore, it's up to the guest to make sure that they have the proper tickets to enter the park. Having an ADR is a separate issue altogether.

We did this 3 weeks ago and LOVED it! The desserts were pretty good, it did not feel crowded, and the view was magnificent. There was also plenty of room at the rail with a nice view of tinkerbell. My dh and I are planning a trip without the kids for Nov 2011 and we're def doing the Dessert party again if it is still being offered.

We did the WDP in August of '09 when it was still $17. We are doing it again this December even though the price has almost doubled. My mom wasn't there in '09 so when I asked her about it she said she def wanted to do it because we all seemed to love it so much. We are 4 adults and a 2 year old (he's free) and it's a pricey venture, but it's an awesome view. Plus I like that they keep refilling desserts so you don't feel like you have to be first in line, and the tables are assigned so you don't feel like you need to stake out the best spot. For our '09 trip I was callign 3 times a day to get a ressie for the party and having no luck, and the day of I walked up at about 4 pm and asked and they had had a cancellation. I almost hugged the CM when she told me she could fit us in. The anxiety over getting the ressie made it that much more memorable. I will never eat $28 worth of dessert, but it's the experience. Plus they had a photopass photgrapher when we were there, though I am not sure they still do? I think you made the right decision. Will we do it every trip? Def not, but for special trips, it's perfect!
