"News: Wishes Dessert Party Debuts at Narcoossee’s in "Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort

Welcome to the Disney Food Blog. If you enjoy this post, you should check out the tour of the site to see all the great Disney Food information we have.

Current view-and-dine parties for Wishes include the Wishes Fireworks Dessert Partyat Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland Terrace, and Ferrytale Wishes: A Fireworks Dessert Cruise. Narcoossee’s is joining the line up by hosting a new Wishes Dessert Party at the Grand Floridian back dock (so during party time, Advance Dining Reservations for Narcoossee’s standard dinner hours of 5:30 to 10:00 pm remain available).

Taking place every Friday — currently available through the month of March — the all-inclusive price of $62.43 per person will include a variety of signature desserts and a selection of wine and cocktails, along with beer, coffee, or tea. The party will begin 30 minutes prior to the evening’s showing of Wishes.

I think a lot people are going to be bummed their favorite spots are going to be roped off during the fireworks. Coming down to the dock to watch the fireworks has been a treat when staying on the rail (when I wasn't staying in a TPV at Contemporary) or dining on it.

I guess one too many execs saw the people standing around just before fireworks and thought "hey, if we could put up a rope and start charging money for the view, that'd be super"...

Those are my exact thoughts. What about the folks dining at Narcoossee's who want to see the fireworks during or after dinner?

Yup. They found another way to capitalize, again. It was always a great spot for guests dining there to catch the fireworks. It says every Friday, so I am assuming for now, it is only one night a week.

That is so wrong! People book Narcoosee's late dinner FOR the fireworks view.
Then the lucky people who have window seats unfortunately discover everyone else gets up and runs outside to stand on the deck and watch the fireworks.
Now diners won't be able to go out, or see from inside either with all the bodies blocking the view.
I only ate there once, and have seen the fireworks so many times, we didn't feel a need to jump up and run outside.
But I was really astonished when the dining room cleared out and everything came to a halt. I asked our server about it, and she said it happens every night, and they are used to it. They time meals accordingly, knowing everyone will get up and run outside.

It is really wrong to take that away from the diners.
Then they should have a dessert party outside California Grill also.

We dined at Narcoosees a few years ago on Christmas Eve and timed our dinner during Wishes. We were happy that we could see through the window although not right at a window table. I would be angry if I paid to dine there and then could not see due to people blocking the view.

As for Wishes and the dessert party at MK, before they started that, we used to grab a seat at that location and watch Wishes until Disney made that location a dessert party. :(

Wondering if they will do the same at the Poly Beach...another great place we have watched Wishes. (waits for them to rope off the beach and charge $)

I am fairly certain they are talking about the dock area just to the left of Narcoosees (when looking out from inside the restaurant), NOT the walkway in front of the windows there.

Although with this change, you'd likely now see more people blocking the windows with waterfront room to stand at.

If I had to guess I'd say I've dined there with a window seat 3 or 4 times and probably as many when I had to walk outside. I never used the walkway other than that. I'd stand at that dock area instead.

If this is just at Narcoosees and their restaurant, this might not be bad if they have actual SEATS which would improve the view of patrons inside the restaurant.

Not much room on that deck for dessert tables -and- chairs -and- guests.
Time will tell.

I guess we'll have to wait & see how it plays out. I haven't eaten there in roughly thirteen years, went to celebrate my son's 21st birthday, & he's now 34. Ironically, I booked dinner for a Friday night during our upcoming May trip. I think I'm going to cancel it.

Call me crazy, but $60+ pp for a 45-minute stand-up dessert "party" is not in the stratosphere of what I would spend my money on. You can do the monorail platform or any of the other docks for free.

I wonder where else they will add dessert parties.

I don't think this one will catch on personally. But who knows

Yeah - my first thought was "Wishes Dessert Party Luau on the Polynesian beach!"

Or maybe a "Wishes Tailgater Party at the Contemporary Parking lot" (Actually that one's not a bad idea using the space by the convention center...)

Very unlikely that they are talking about the actual GF boat dock.
That boat dock is still in use (as an active arrival/departure dock) during Wishes, and there is no MK fireworks audio piped to it.

I was just there within the past month, and they did have guests viewing on the Narcoossee's back (north) deck where the MK audio
is very good. There was new signage up on the outside approach to that deck that stated the area was for use only by Narcoossee's guests.

Music is easily fixed, so no issue there. Also I think you are forgetting there is a decent sized area past the gangway, it isn't huge but it's there and could accommodate a few serving tables and room for twenty or so people with standing bar type tables to put small plates and drinks on.

Also there is the covered pavilion / building thing on the end of the dock there as well. For the life of me I can't remember it's purpose though or if it's just a gazebo type of thing or an actual small building. I can see it working and hosting 2 dozen people comfortably. Perhaps 3 dozen if that building thing is where the food/bartenders will be.

I still think it's a crappy idea but it's workable.

I was thinking the same thing about the Poly. Maybe a Moana themed one when it comes out, wait I shouldn't give them any more ideas :)

OK, I agree.
