Wishes Dessert Party ADR Watch Thread # 2 - September 2013 OPEN!!!

If you look at the pictures from this thread, you'll get a good idea of where the dessert party is located and its surroundings.

Also, I was told by a CM working there last month that they have only cancelled the fireworks once in 17 years. They will continue to postpone the fireworks right up till closing...and the dessert party stays open until the end of the fireworks.

I'm not sure about the refund situation if there was no party... someone else may have that answer.

Hope this information helps a little.:thumbsup2

Thank you! That is exactly the information and pictures I was looking for :)

Okay so now that we are all booked, what happens if the fireworks are cancelled the night we are there due to the weather? Will we get a refund?

Does anyone know where I can find good pictures of the set up from the inside and outside?

Thanks

ugh - I didn't think of that! Did that happen to anyone on the DIS boards?

We're hoping for September, too. I've got 60 days marked on my calendar, and I'm hoping it opens as scheduled and we can get in. We only have one night we could go.

forgive me as I just found this threat and I have only read a few posts...I am looking for September too, and although I know they aren't booking yet I had a few questions (that probably have already been answered!)

- how far in advance do the reservations usually open?
- I looked online today for an ADR for end of September/beginning of October and it had dates available to select..when I selected them it said no times available...I assume you cant book this ADR online?

I am so nervous I will miss the day it opens for sept. I am looking for reservations on Sept. 15 which is my daughters birthday. The trip is a surprise for her 8th birthday and she will love the dessert party.

The fireworks are RARELY cancelled. I don't think I have ever heard of it happening. Someone posted that the fireworks have only been cancelled once in the last 17 years.

For those of you waiting for Sept, just thought I'd share that I was one stalking the August dates and was able to book our 1st choice of Aug 1 shortly after the reservations for Aug opened. I just checked for the heck of it and there are still reservations available for that date. I'm sure there are some dates that are full, but I wouldn't stress out too much!

We are going on the 19th. I missed the opening date and didn't get my first choice which is was the 18th. It is our 8th. time going so I am okay that we just got a date!

For some answers: the party is held rain or shine. If there are no fireworks you still get the desserts and the party is held. If you do not show up you are charged. You must cancel over 24 hours to get a full refund. Tink does not fly if the weather is not within guidelines. So if it is windy you may not see Tink.

The party is considered standing room only and people do get up to watch. If you want to be by the wall I recommend around 15 minutes prior. It is not mobs of people but you do have people around you.

You CAN NOT bring chairs up to the wall and strollers must be kept by the table if there is a child in one. You can not roll it up to the wall.

You can see at some seats even over the heads of people in front of you. The fireworks are up and over enough so if you want to sit you can.

Bringing someone in a wheelchair up to the wall is not the best option. Standing back a little will greatly improve their view.

If anyone has any other questions, please ask. We really enjoy this party and go every single Disney visit.

On the weather note.... We have attended the dessert party 4 times. On our last trip we were visiting during a Tropical Storm. We asked about the fireworks being cancelled and a CM told us they've only been cancelled once in the history of the Magic Kingdom. I know we always have to take things like that with a grain of salt, but it was reassuring. Sure enough the show went on (minus Tinkerbell, of course!)

Thanks for the info! Most helpful!!

I forgot - don't sit your child or let them stand on the wall. Once a CM notices you will be asked to remove the child and have them held or stand. Sometimes it is better to be farther away with small children.

As a mother this one scares the bee-jeepers out of me. I am so worried about the child that I miss the fireworks. Yes I know this is my problem but it is a safety tip also.

This drives me crazy too!! Too busy worrying about some kid cracking their head open to enjoy the fireworks :-(

I am glad I am not the only one. I felt like a grumpy Mom but I would rather have the little one's safe.

I totally agree with this...

On the Tink issue, i guess if there's lightning within a 5 mile radius she doesn't fly, also the wind issues.
I know it's a highlight of the fireworks, but i'd personally be more concerned for her safety.

Isn't it a shame that we're the ones worrying and the parents don't even have a clue? And it's THEIR child? Oh, the joys of vacationing at a family resort! ;-)

Is it to early to check for September yet! LOL :lmao:

No NOT at ALL. Disney has been known to throw a monkey wrench in the loop and open a month right after the other. Don't be like me, gave myself a few day break and missed the first 3 days of August booking. First time ever I am not in the first booking time group!
