I'm umming and aching about whether to book a wishes desert party or whether to just enjoy wishes on the street in the middle of the crowd. What would you all recommend?

I highly recommend the dessert party. It was so nice to actually have a place to sit at the end of the day (and not on the floor!), to enjoy some desserts and drinks. It was just so relaxing and great not to have to fight crowds. The view was amazing - you will love it!

What if you want to also view the parade prior to Wishes? Would it still be possible to do both or do you need to choose to either see the parade and wishes from the street or Wishes only because you need to be arriving and enjoying the Dessert Party. I'm curious about the timing.

I vote for the Dessert Party. The desserts are wonderful (lousy coffee and tea, however) and the view is unobstructed. Tinkerbell flew close enough to almost touch.

This is something I will always do from now on.

We saw the parade while eating our desserts. Guess you could come later after the parade but then you wouldn't be able to eat as much.

I don't think you should check-in after the parade, since you won't have as much time to relax and enjoy the desserts. I was able to see the parade from where we were seated (along the rail), but its certainly not close up. You still can get a nice view of the parade though.

I can never seem to bring myself to deal with the crowds on Main St., we opt for a less "magical" view from elsewhere in the park. We're trying the dessert party this year, how's this for helping you decide:

Pros on Main St - straight on view of fireworks behind castle, no extra cost, able to see parade before or after, depending upon where you are located (we opt for viewing the parade in frontierland, seems friendlier over there :goodvibes )

Cons on Main St - staking a spot and being prepared to defend it for about an hour, probable pushing or shoving intended or not from others trying to angle into your "space", unable to move about freely, having to stand while viewing, possibly getting stuck behind someone much taller than you or holding a child on their shoulders (don't you love folks that do that)

Pros for dessert party - assigned table, able to sit and relax the hour before fireworks enjoying all you can eat desserts & non-alcoholic beverages, able to move freely &/or even leave to use RR without losing your place, less than 100 people around you while viewing fireworks, if Tinkerbell flys she will be pretty close to where you are, unobstructed view standing against the railing

Cons for dessert party - costs extra money, most likely will still have to stand to see fireworks, won't see fireworks directly behind castle but a little to the right (since you won't be directly in front of the castle), if you are unhappy having a table towards the back, that's a possibility (but you can walk up to the rail to view wishes)

More people than not opt for viewing from Main St. or elsewhere in the park, plus availability is limited for dessert party. Good luck deciding - hope this helped ;)
