Hi! You can always make the experience as formal or informal as you wish.
I know we ended up deciding on brunch, but that was for a few reasons...
- Price (Brunch is $50 cheaper, which is important considering we originally estimated on a price that start $25 cheaper)
- We wanted an Epcot ceremony (hate ballroom backups for other outdoor locations)
- Still gives us the possibility of adding on a dessert party, if we decide to
We're still planning on having a fairly formal event - we'll be in LSS, dress expectation is semi-formal (not black tie, but that's due to the time and our locations), we really want some form of live musician (if we can avoid the DJ), and at least first dance. We're likely doing a plated meal, as well, but that has a lot to do with personal preferences.
Honestly, if we had been told we couldn't consider any form of plated meal (we've checked, they haven't) or been told we couldn't do lunch/dinner food as opposed to breakfast/brunch, I'd probably be doing at least a lunch ceremony/reception. But that is because I really don't like breakfast food, especially not the ones they like to list on any of their sample menus (not just the wedding ones), and so DF decided it's just easier to only do lunch food so I'm sure to actually eat something.
If you decide to go with a dinner reception, you can always use lurkyloo's suggestions of using Mickey waffles as a late night snack. Best of both worlds then!
