Wish vs Dream

Hey there,
Long time reader, first time poster.
went on our first Disney cruise Jan 2020 (3 night on the dream) with a 7 month old. Have been wanting to go on another cruise and have been very interested in the Wish. Looking to go on a cruise sept/October 2022 with a now 3 year old and a 10 month old. I’m starting to question if I want to spend close to $1,000 more to go on the Wish vs going on the Dream again. With a toddler I feel like we missed a lot of things (had to leave shows halfway through) the first cruise so it wouldn’t necessarily feel like we were just repeating everything. Curious on some thoughts and opinions. Thanks.

I'd probably opt to save the money and go on the Dream, simply because I'm not terribly awed by what I've seen of the Wish yet. Maybe in time I'll feel differently, but for now, unless I was specifically wanting to "collect" all 5 ships in the fleet, so to speak, then I would just cruise on the Dream again.

Ultimately, this is a personal decision. But if this were my decision, and my kids were that you g, I’d sail the Dream again. It would be one thing if they were, say, 9 and 7, where they could really appreciate all the new play areas on the Wish - and giving you as parents downtime, too! - but at that age, I’d reexperience the Dream.

My kids are now 17 and 14 and will be 18 and 15 when we sail the Wish, so I’m more willing to spend the extra money. My kids have sailed the Magic, the Fantasy, and the Dream twice.

If you're not booking the cool two floor rooms, where you can face plant when the ship gets rocky, I'd opt for the Dream The big draw to the Wish is those ridiculously priced rooms placed on the ship. It doesn't seem to have much more going for it.

I’d book the dream too unless you are planning to pair it with a WDW trip as the dream will be porting out of Miami instead of port canaveral.

2nd time Disney cruiser? Save your money and sail on Disney's best ship, the Dream. Newer isn't always better. Everyone has their own favorite ship, and mine is the Dream because we love the Dream class bells & whistles (which seem better than the Wish so far), like the restaurants, and Beauty and the Beast is our favorite DCL show. I'm looking forward to sailing the Wish but only because we've sailed all of the others (some multiple times) and also want to try concierge for the first time, which seems the best way to sail the Wish with its more extensive concierge areas. I wouldn't want to sail the Wish non-concierge. The Dream would be great to sail in a deluxe inside stateroom, so your little ones could enjoy the magical porthole with characters occasionally appearing. We did that once on the Fantasy and enjoyed it. The Wish doesn't have that feature.

For us, we decided to save the money and go back on the Dream. We sailed on the Dream Feb 2020 and now we are booked for a Feb 2022 sailing on the Dream as well. Being such a short cruise we missed so much on the boat. So there is still so much to do. I eventually want to sail with all the ships but I'm in no hurry and I'm not sure I care which order I do them in either so for me the Wish took the back burner.
