Our wish granters emailed me and asked if 1/19-1/22/09 were good dates! That means it's the 4 night Bahamian cruise!!! OMG! That means I have to start PLANNING!! And PTR!

Now to figure where do I put my PTR for a DIsney Cruise? In The cruise forum?

Yes, IU97Alum, the cruise trips forum on the cruise forum. You should also check the cruise meets forum for the dates of your cruise - sometimes there are other dis-ers on the cruise with kids the ages of your kids. That's going to be SO much FUN!

When you have the "stroller as wheelchair" you can take the stroller right through the handicapped line, or to the point where a person would have to leave a chair. In some locations, it doesn't help at all (TTA, for example, where everyone has to get up the escalator ramp without any device), and in some cases it helps tremendously (the Safari, for example.)


For what it's worth, I leave stuff in the bag on the back of my ecv all the time and no one has ever bothered it. I do keep the bag zipped, and back my buggy up to a wall when I leave it, but someone determined to steal could, of course. I don't leave anything of value visible in the front basket. I think most people are too focused on having a good time for casual theft.

Sometimes the castmembers 'tidy' the stroller area and move them about, but if someone's stroller goes missing, it's usually a rental that looks like everyother person's rental, kwim? Make sure your name and cell phone number/ resort are on your stroller somewhere - maybe tie a big colorful scarf on it . . . if you're really scared it will disappear, I guess you could use a bike lock.

Someone asked about ice cream - it is Friendly's. They make all kinds of sundaes. The food in the gingerbread house is provided by Perkins. I've never had the pizza, but it smells great!

Cruise? That is wonderful. We are still waiting on dates, but I'm thinking it might have to do with our request to make a Pirate/Princess Party. Those dates haven't been announced yet for 2009.

About storage on wheelcairs and strollers......
When you go on a ride do you take your belongings with you or leave them on the (in our case) wheelchair?
If you leave them is there any chance they could get stolen?

It depends on the ride and how big the wheelchair is, etc. I was surprised with the amount of rides that Lauren could just ride in her chair the whole time...like Buzz Lightyear and Toy Story (just two examples). All shows are accessible, and you can bring a wheelchair.

There is a chance stuff could get stolen. I would not leave a purse or camera or anything like that. It is not likely that a whole stroller would disappear...especially if you mark it in some way (with some ribbon or something). I think the only way it would disappear is if someone thought it belonged to them?

Camera's and wallets would be on our persons, I was thinking more about the wheelchair bag/rucksack with poncho's water and snacks. We would like to leave the snack water bag and wondered whether it would be safe.
From the replies so far I gather that they would be quite safe being left.

Let me ask you all a question. Do you think that it is worth it to get a photopass cd or no? I am torn. I want it so we can have special memories but then again we are tight on monet and I don'twant to fet it if it is a waste of money. YKWIM????

YES YES!!! Get the photopass!!! I LOVE it!!! Like Mary said, make sure you take a picture of the back of the card once you get it! If you have internet access, make sure you put the card number into the DisneyPhotopass site as soon as you can too. You can keep adding pictures to the Photopass once you do that and you can view your pictures online too. When we went with my family (all 15 of us!) it was fun if one family was at the park, and we were back at the house, because we could see the pictures they had just had taken! Kind of like we were spying on them!

okay.. I gotta question that doesn't have anything to do with Disneyworld. Our MAW orginazation emailed us asking if we would like to speak at a fundraising event next Sunday. I was wondering if anyone else has done that and what do you speak about? The email just says.. would you be willing to speak about your journey..

Any help is appreciated. I don't know yet if dh has that day off and it does go thru one of Kayla's volleyball games that day but I think we will do it if we can work it out.

We got a lovely unexpected surprise today from "Fairy Goodmother". She sent adorable little band-aid caddy's for each kid!! They are so cute! Wil already put his in his backpack that will be his carryon! So I guess we've started packing!!

Really, I thank you F.G. (AKA Linda I think). It's so heartwarming to think that there are other people out there thinking of my kids and going out of their way to make my kids feel special. You touched me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Still got lots of packing to do, but everything is all set out. The car is coming for 8:00, which means that we are less than 12 hours away!!!

Thanks to everyone here for sharing your stories...it really helps with the planning and building the excitement. I feel like I am really prepared - but I've been managing expectations all round.

My DD had her Wish trip via MAW over 4 yrs ago.

As of the email you got, we got something very similar, but in a typed letter via regular mail, from our local MAW office.
We were also invited to a fundraising event, about 4 yrs ago. The event was very close to our house, at a daycare center. We were also asked to speak about our wish trip and anything we wanted to say about MAW. I did call the employee at our MAW office about it and told the person who was going to be at this fundraising event that I wasn't sure what to talk about, as I didn't feel comfortable talking in front of alot of people. I told her we would like to still attend the fundraising event. She understood my situation.
I think she found another family that was willing to speak at the event.
Anyways, at the event itself that we attended, supposedly there wasn't enough time for any MAW families to speak at the fundraiser, so no one got put on the spot to speak I guess there were too many activities that the place hosting the fundraiser just ran out of time for MAW to speak.
This was our experience.

I drove there...that IS the correct physical address and I am sure it would get to whoever you want it go to there...

But you can call and ask them directly...their number is 800-995-KIDS.

That was me that asked. I called GKTW and they told me when i shipped the package to be sure to put the wish child's name on package and put the arrival date and they would set it aside for us and put it in our room when our arrival date comes up.

I'm sorry i forgot let y'all know this info.
