Wish Trippers...Unite!! Volume One

My boys wanted me to ask a couple of questions. First of all- is the pizza good? What pizza chain would you compare it to? Also, what kinds of ice cream and toppings do they have? Finally, is the arcade free?

Only 3 weeks away and we are very excited!

Unfortunately...we did not get to have pizza. William can't eat it anyway, so it was ok that we didn't get to have it. But can't help you out there...

The ice cream place is like a real ice cream shop...probably 12 flavors of ice cream and all different toppings...everything I could think of was in there. They also make banana splits...

I am not on my computer now...but there is a picture in my TR of a banana split...I don't think they will be disappointed!

Hello! Well, we all survived the birthday sleepover...enough to host another on Saturday night (our same age neighbour came dinner and the movie the other night but couldn't sleepover...he goes to private school and he didn't have Friday off!).

Another busy weekend...I packed and packed and packed because the house has to be ready for our move elsewhere once we leave for WDW!!!

Here's another detailed GKTW question...or two...are there any toiletries left in the villas (shampoo etc)? I have lots of little samples, but don't know if I need to bring them. Also, are the towels OK for the pool? I kind hope they provide towels because I have already packed up our beach towels...not much need for them up here in the frozen north for months and months...

Thanks!
Alison

PS My boys have been asking Carol's questions too!

Sorry...I can't answer these...as we did not stay there. I would bring your shampoo samples...because I don't think I remember seeing shampoo on the list of things they provide.

Not sure about the pool towels...sorry!!

But you guys are going to LOVE GKTW!!!!!! :) I am so glad that you get to stay there!!!! :)

I asked on my PTR but i thought i might get more answers over here.
Has anyone shipped anything to GKTW and if so what did you have to do?

You have 5 special needs kids? That is completely AWESOME...and mind boggling...

I will definitely help you in any way that I can...

You can read my trip report (link below) for more info...but I am single and have a lot of time on my hands to do research, etc. And this sounds like an awesome project...and I KNOW you don't have time to plan all of this stuff...

Wow...I am just in awe. We would all love to hear more about your family.

You can PM me (private message) once you have posted 10 times... (which won't take long) and I can help you with anything you need...

How many adults are going on this trip?

I would say the triple stroller and one handicapped one...seems like less to carry around?

Anyway...WELCOME!!!!!!!!!

I cant even begin to think of the logistics of a trip with so many different needs to be accounted for.
I am not selling you short (selling me short) though as I feel you must be very capable to love and foster your kids they are all very lucky to have such a kind and giving family
God has a very special mold for you and yours.

I am still in awe:scared1: :worship:

Hi there! I think you are referring to me. My signature is pretty confusing since we have so many names on it...and it does look like "Lisa"....but I am Mary, aka "Maroo" by my friends! :) We just got back from a wonderful wish adventure in October.

I am so glad you have 5 adults going! That will be SO MUCH FUN!

Disney World is an awesome place for people with disabilities, especially kids!

Since you have 5 adults, it seems like the stroller deal is completely an issue of preference...and I wonder which ones would have a good amount of storage space (as you will need that in the parks) and can fold up and be carried easily for travel purposes. :)

I think you will find that this thread is the perfect place to ask questions, etc for your trip. At some point, if you have time, you might want to start a trip report...probably after you get dates, maybe? Or are at least sure that he wants to go to DW! (Lauren almost changed her mind when she heard the other things available to her.)

We are glad you are here!! :)

About storage on wheelcairs and strollers......
When you go on a ride do you take your belongings with you or leave them on the (in our case) wheelchair?
If you leave them is there any chance they could get stolen?

Mandy

Teresajoy-- Avy is amazing she has her problems but is almost full mainstream school we never expected her to do much at all
She reads at grade level and just loves school

Mandy thanks for the kind words we love what we do and will keep taking them as long as they keep calling us

Mary sorry I thought your name was Lisa.
we are worried about taking our $900 stroller and coming back off a ride and it is gone, or it getting damaged on the flight down there. We really need to think things through on what we want to do
I will start a Pre trip thread when I have enough posts to share pictures

Let me ask you all a question. Do you think that it is worth it to get a photopass cd or no? I am torn. I want it so we can have special memories but then again we are tight on monet and I don'twant to fet it if it is a waste of money. YKWIM????

My understanding is that you can take all the pictures you want and if you have the CD you have the release to use the pictures in any way you want. For $100 I think it is well worth it. I know I plan on saving my pennies to get this when we go. They have Photographers everywhere and usally one of us isn't able to be in the picture. This way we can have all of us togethor for all of the pictures.

It is definitely worth it!! But pre-pay for it and use it a LOT.

And get a card for each member of your family (each adult) so that they all have one on them...in case you split up for some reason, so that they can take pics to add to your account.

When you get your cards, take a picture of each of them with your camera AND write the numbers down somewhere you can keep them. Because if you lose the card, it is no problem, as long as you have the numbers...

When you get home, you can just put all of the numbers on the Photopass page on the internet and all of your "cards" can go on one CD to be delivered to you.

Take LOTS of pics...In front the of the castle...each character, etc. LOTS... :) And then you have already bought it! We didn't take enough...and missed several opportunities because not all of the adults had a card or knew what to do...

You are going to have a BLAST!!! :)

You are awesome...and you can call me Lisa anytime! She is my best friend. And she has made me "be" her when I have talked to an insurance company before (I fight with insurance companies all day at work...so when she has a problem with hers, I fight for her, too!)...so it is all good!!

Which stroller is $900? The wheelchair one? You CAN use a stroller as a wheelchair...and keep it with you as though it was a wheelchair. I am not exactly sure how this works, but I am going to make it my mission in the next couple of days to find out. So, I will get back to you on that.

I also understand that you can take a stroller on the plane, if it is fairly small and you are one of the first to board...they have room for a couple on most planes. They will also "gate check" it for you, so that it goes on the plan last and gets off first and is given back to you at the gate. Then you can inspect it and make sure nothing is broken...but it could break, at any point on the journey, I guess. I suspect the airline will take good care of it. You will probably need to talk to someone in "special reservations" at the airline or ask for "disability services" and they should get you to the right place...and tell them what you have and see what they say for that particular airline...With as many kids going that have special needs, I would definitely call them and let them know you guys are coming! :)

We pre-ordered our photo pass CD already. We found on our last trip that it is worth every memory capturing penny! I'd rather have these photos than any other "souvenier" but then I'm a photographer so pictures are real important to me :)
