We are off on our trip in about month and we havent heard anything about a party.

Maybe its just different wish organizations.

Zeppy, I think it is different for all organizations. We are probably not doing a party but staying the night at a museum about 10 days before Nick's wish trip.

Zeppy, The party I am referring to is Sebastian's send-off party. We have made arrangements with a local indoor play space to provide the space and entertainment for our friends and family to see Sebastian off on his trip.

Our wish granter told us that MAW does try to do something special for each wish kid before the trip. We had the problem of too many people to invite. So my girlfriend and I took it upon ourselves to find the venue for free. (I used to be a Corporate Event Planner in my pre-Mom life). MAW doesn't have much of a budget for these things since understandably thier funds are going for the actual wishes.

We've had an awesome network of support and are looking forward to celebrating Sebastian's big wish coming true and his body being tumor free with them.

Since it's turning out to be quite the shin dig his Wish Granter --well actually the manager of the venue-- wants to get some good PR out out it.

Our Wish Org is Mississippi and they don't really do a send off party normally. They came to the house with balloons the week before we left and dropped off all of the info and we had cake and celebrated. Lauren actually had a send off party at the airport, but that was part of WishFlight. Each organization is different depending on their budget, I guess. But we did get an expense check that covered all of our expenses, which was incredible! So each organization is different, I think.

We were just apporved for my 11yo dd's wish trip and our 3ds is also eligible for one. We will probably wait until he is older. I know of someone else on a different message board that had 2 kids that both got wishes.

We were notified 2 weeks ago that our 12 year old DD qualified for a wish. We haven't been assigned volunteers yet, we were told 2 to 4 weeks for that.

Becca goes through such a lot every day of her life and we are over the moon that she is going to get her wish granted.
I have started a Pre-trip report, the link is in my siggie.

Welcome here!! I did read your story and Becca seems like SUCH a sweetheart!! I hope the trip will be everything she dreams of and more!!! She deserves it!!

Wow! I was checking out the pre-trip reports and discovered that there are no fewer than 7 wish trip reports over there! Isn't great that so many of us have found our way over to these Boards, and are learning about each other, our kids, and our trips?!?

I am sitting here at the computer while the boys watch the end of a movie.


MARK & DOUGLAS TURNED 10 TODAY!!!


So, they each have a friend over. We had a fun meal, played some of our new video games, had cake, now a movie and a sleepover. I'm exhausted...I hope they don't stay up TOO late.

The boys had better get a decent sleep. They have a photo shoot for the capital campaign for the children's rehab centre where Mark has his therapy, and where Mark went to school for kindergarten and GRade 1. It's a wonderful place and has meant so mcuh to Mark's progress.

Anyway, looks like the movie is over and it's time to get this sleepover heading towards SLEEP!!!

First, to get the search to work, try switching the skin to California Gold. You can do that in the drop down menu at the very very bottom of your page on the left side. You can even search for posts by username if you are using that layout!

Okay, one more question-and this might be a stupid question. Does it matter what you spend your expense check on or even if you spend it all? It isn't that I don't plan on spending it all- I am actually planning on spending extra. We have several hundred dollars worth of reward $$ from our Disney Visa. Anything we download onto it would need to be used on this trip. I don't want to be left with any extra reward dollars on the card we can't use so I thought we would use our reward dollars all up first and then start using our expense check money. Does that make sense?

We were able to keep all our money. Our wish planners advised us to remove all the money off the card the day we arrived home (we had a visa card as our "expense check"). We did that. We of course spent it on additional gifts for the kids for Christmas that were Disney or GKTW related (GKTW has a small online gift shop).

I'm not back yet but I should be by the end of the week. I finally caved and we're getting internet on Tuesday if all goes well. Yippee! In other news, unless Disney comes up with an even better deal for MLK week than they did for the week before Christmas, we'll be going back December 14-24. I'm still holding my breathe for a great deal to come out in the next couple of days though. We really want to go in January for Danae's b-day and because it won't be so crowded but Christmas will be nice too.

I miss you guys terribly. I know I have one trip report link to update and I'll do that as soon as I have more than two minutes on-line, I promise.

My boys wanted me to ask a couple of questions. First of all- is the pizza good? What pizza chain would you compare it to? Also, what kinds of ice cream and toppings do they have? Finally, is the arcade free?

Hello! Well, we all survived the birthday sleepover...enough to host another on Saturday night (our same age neighbour came dinner and the movie the other night but couldn't sleepover...he goes to private school and he didn't have Friday off!).

Another busy weekend...I packed and packed and packed because the house has to be ready for our move elsewhere once we leave for WDW!!!

Here's another detailed GKTW question...or two...are there any toiletries left in the villas (shampoo etc)? I have lots of little samples, but don't know if I need to bring them. Also, are the towels OK for the pool? I kind hope they provide towels because I have already packed up our beach towels...not much need for them up here in the frozen north for months and months...
